We have purchased plastic cups specifically for the pool area, added wine glasses to enhance the house amenities, and promptly fixed the blinds. Additionally, we have initiated inquiries regarding landscaping options, particularly in relation to pavement of the guest house. As an experienced host of multiple properties for five years, I have received 42 reviews in total, with an average rating of 5.0 stars. However, despite my best efforts, this couple was impossible to please. These guests were two lovely people from New York, both in their 40s, who we welcomed with open arms, as we have a deep admiration for the LGBTQ+ community, having recently supported our own son when he came out. During their stay, the guests complained about various things. They lifted all the draw liners just to take photos of a few crumbs in a kitchen drawer. They made unfounded complaints about nonexistent noise from our neighbors on the weekend. They also declined to purchase a temporary club membership, which they demanded to dine at the Ritz Carlton, where they had planned to celebrate their birthday or honeymoon (they claimed it's both). I kindly provided them with my personal membership number to help them secure a reservation, but unfortunately, Both Ritz restaurants were full during the spring break peak season and Ritz can’t host last minute guests without a reservation. they were so angry at me despite the fact there are 5 other restaurants they can walk-in and enjoy their dinner all within the community. The most unreasonable complaint is the water. Our property is equipped with a 1400-gallon high water tower located behind the guest house, which ensures uninterrupted water supply and excellent water pressure. The house has been rented since 2011, and we have never received any complaints about low water pressure or excessively hot water from the pipes. In fact, all temperature settings can be easily adjusted using a knob. Despite our best efforts to accommodate them, they were still unhappy and threatened to leave a bad review. In an effort to appease them, protect my property from angry guests and prevent a negative review, I went above and beyond by sending them a full refund, a free night's stay during spring break, and even paying for the housekeeper myself after they checked out. However, they still left a one-star review and demanded an additional $300 to have it removed, which made me realize they were scammers who had done this before. I have already reported them to VRBO, and I am confident that justice will be served. As a host, I urge others to be wary of these types of guests and to protect themselves and their properties from fraudulent behavior. FYI VRBO has suspended the guests' account, preventing them from making any future bookings. It's a relief to see that justice has been served. Aiming to have the baseless bad review taken down by VRBO in the coming 3-5 business days.
