About the host
Hosted by Suzzie
My brother, Ted Beanland , and myself, Suzzie Beanland Thieke, worked for the Kimber's and Eddleman's for many years starting in the late 60's and early 70's .Jack and Jacqueline Kimber Eddleman were second parents to us. They loved us as their own children. Before they passed, they left the property to my brother and myself. We loved them as parents as well. Jacqueline always wanted to share this beautiful property and the home’s history with everyone she could before she passed. She tried to get it on the historical society but was unsuccessful. The house sat vacate for about 10 years. It was in great need of repair and love. The decision was made to renovate. So, my husband , Mike Thieke, and myself worked on this house long weekend for a year except for about 8 weekends. My brother helped when he could. We could not be prouder or love this property any more than the original owners or everyone that lived and grew up in this house. We truly hope you enjoy the property and history that it has to offer.
Why they chose this property
This home was built by Valentine Kimber and relatives in 1857. It is the third home built on this property. The first was a small cabin down by the end of the lake because of a great spring. The second was built directly behind this home. They harvested all the wood off of the property to build this beautiful house. They migrated from Pennsylvania as carpenters and ministers to Union County in the early1850's. It originally had five bedrooms, three fireplaces, two sitting rooms, 2 small closets, and no kitchen. They would cook in the house that was directly behind this one. The old outhouse still stands along with the chicken coop, hog barn, packing shed, corn shed, tool shed, and the beautiful red barn that was built in 1900.
What makes this property unique
We hope that you enjoy the antiques and reading about this Kimber Home and its wonderful history. It is a very peaceful, tranquil, relaxing, nature at its finest, and the picturesque views. Not to mention is you love fishing then this is the place for you. There is a 5-acer stocked lake with bass, blue gill, and catfish. We guarantee that you will catch some fish.
