Everything was great! Great communication with the host and the place was perfect for us. This was our second time at this location and we have already booked the third!
Very clean, description was accurate. Easy to find. This was exactly what we needed! Host was great. We were just far enough away from the towns… it was very peaceful. We will stay there again, actually booked our next trip before leaving.
The propery accommodate our family of 12. Plenty of space to hang out inside and out. Well stocked with games and movies. Close to outdoor activities. Would stay again!
Had a wonderful stay with Marine Corps friends and their wives who ride Harleys. We visited the Alpaca farm across the street and visited various wineries and a mead brewery. Went on multiple rides and did some antiquing and thrift shopping. Cities visited included Cairo, Mt. Vernon, Benton, Cape Girardeau, Scott City, Metropolis, Paducah, etc.... We went to Cave in Rock state park and Garden of the Gods in Herod IL. Steve was great to work with and our entire group had a great time staying at this property. I stayed in the cabin myself and totally liked it. It is a great layout and has a wonderful feel and charm.
Our family of 7 rented both homes to watch the Solar Eclipse. The location was absolutely beautiful, as described, and centrally located to a number of different attractions (Shawnee Canopy Tour, Trail of Tears, Wine Trail, etc).
The homes were clean, well kept, and stocked nicely with cooking utensils and supplies. Plenty of silverware, pots, pans etc, settings for at least 7. Theirs is NO dishwasher, so plan accordingly.
The property was lovely, the owner incredibly responsive and helpful throughout. We will happily be staying again.
It was perfect for our size family of varying ages. The benefit of having 2 houses was that for people who might want quiet time away from the large family group could slip away to the cabin while the main action was at the house. The houses were clean, although some of the furniture was showing wear. The steps on the deck to the main house leading to the front need some maintenance, one of them was almost rotted through which could be dangerous, but other than that it was great having the covered deck with the table to have meals. If it hadn't been so hot we would have spent even more time out there. The views were very pretty. We saw several deer in the fields. The host was very accommodating also - he replaced a shower head just as we were checking in to ensure we had a nice shower in the guest cabin for our visit.
We found the property to be very comfortable with quality furniture, updated facilities, very well equipped kitchens and bathrooms, lots of towels, DVDs available, welcome snacks, etc. We rented both the main house and guest house. We would have preferred to have all been under one roof, but with different sleep habits and smaller children it did allow for one home to be more kid friendly and one to be more adult friendly when it came to lights out. Very close to some very nice wineries. Nice areas for yard games and campfires. Loved the deck areas and back porches. It was easy to find and while we did have neighbors that were pretty close and a few views that were not the best, we had some super views as well and spent a lot of time outside. Very few negatives.
The insides of the gas grills are pretty shot and need replaced. The beds were very clean and sheets and spreads are very nice, but a few of the mattresses are a bit saggy for my liking. In the big picture, those things are minor considering the length of our stay. We had eight adults in our group and we all agreed that all things considered, it was an awesome place and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you so much for the review and I am glad you had a wonderful time. I will be replacing the grills this year at all of my properties as those are subject to wear and tear. As for the beds, I always put a variety of beds in each house. IN the main house I think I have a firm, soft, and a memory foam mattress. For future guest check all the beds to see which one is to your liking!
This was a great location for our family to come in and visit us. It was easy to get between Ana in Carbondale which is the two locations we wanted to visit. The views were fabulous and we just had a great time!
Host was extremely responsive, we were able to do early check in. The houses were both stocked and had everything we needed. The complementary items were a huge bonus. Check in and check out we’re a breeze. There were tons of movies and games. Firewood available. Beds were PHENOMENAL. Seriously couldn’t of asked for a better house to spend our weekend away. It felt like home away from home.
9 of us shared this property and we rented both houses on it. Upon arrival, we found a fully stocked home to include fire wood, anything in the kitchen you would need (our group cooks so this is important), snacks to welcome us and clean bathrooms with soaps available.
The houses and properties were both cared for very well. The owner was easy to reach to answer questions. I would stay here again without hesitation!
We always take an annual wine trip with several other couples and this year decided to come back to Southern, IL. We rented both the house and the cabin. Everything was great and the owner was very responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
We had a great experience, the host was very responsive to any questions and really made the stay great. The homes were beautiful and well kept, and the surrounding area was stunningly beautiful. I hope to stay again when we’re back in the area!
We booked both properties for our annual Girls Wine Weekend...13th year!! The location was perfect...close to our favorite wineries. The cabins were spacious, very nicely done and has great decks that overlook the countryside. We had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone!!

Beautiful secluded location!
This place was fantastic for our group. We are a group of ten people that take a summer trip together on our Harley's every year. We decided to explore Southern Illinois this year and discovered this B & B on Homeaway. We could not have been more pleased with the location and the condition of the property. Especially the two bedroom cabin, it is incredible. Each bedroom has a hot tub and is set up like a typical hotel room suite. The location is ten miles from Anna which has a Walmart, restaurants, gas stations and many other stores. Would definitely stay there again if in that area and needing that much space. The owner of this property is also great to deal with! Both the house and the cabin are well stocked with all the amenities you need for as long as you want to stay.

The Perfect Get Away!
We rented both properties for a family vacation. 10 of us, 3 generations, 5 last names. :)
The house was awesome - everything we could possibly need was provided. The kitchen had more gadgets than my home, there were towels in abundance, complimentary snacks, toiletries, you name it. Everyone commented on how much they liked the property.
We heard coyotes (awesome!), saw deer, lots of birds up close, a tree frog and a friendly neighbor cat. The kids (8-17) had a blast in the large backyard. We had a fire every night (wood provided), ate on the wonderful deck, grilled, enjoyed the peace and quiet. After waiting for over 18 months to be able to take this vacation, it was so nice that everything promised in the listing was true.
We had a very minor issue that was corrected while we were out for dinner - fast reply to our call, fixed immediately.
Steve worked with us through a difficult time when we had to rebook our stay due to emergencies on our end. We could never thank him enough. He was wonderful to work with and we'd do it again in a heartbeat!
If you want a quiet, restful place to be with all the amenities, a helpful owner, a great experience, THIS IS THE PLACE!

About the host
Hosted by Steve Young
I grew up in Southern Illinois, and could not wait to 'Get Out,' 'Escape,' and go to the big city. I went to school in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and left Southern Illinois far behind. I thought this was great.
I had a very successful career in the online advertising, marketing, and market research world catering to big pharma. In a normal year I would fly 125,000 miles and see many places, countries and sites.
As I grew older and my 'success' continued I felt more and more that something was missing. I began to yearn for the hills of Southern Illinois, the slower pace of life, and the people I left behind more and more.
I 2013, I came home for a few weeks to help my mother move my father into a nursing home. After this was completed I flew to Milan for business, and on my way back I received a call that my mother had had a stroke. This was a life changing event for me, and I never really went home.
My father spent the year getting worse, and my Mother spent the year getting better. When my father died in December of 2013, I decided to 'officially' move to Southern Illinois in order to spend more time with my mother and be closer with family. I also made the decision to leave the company I worked for and do something simpler, and local to Southern Illinois.
June 1st, 2014 I started my company with the goal to create vacation rental homes in Southern Illinois and help the area grow tourism. Southern Illinois is a beautiful and special place, and I would like to share it with as many people as possible.
Steve Young purchased this cabin in 2014
Why they chose this property
This property was an old Bed and Breakfast, and the view was spectacular. The property was foreclosed on and a friend that I went to high school with had purchased it and remodeled the main house. Once I purchased it I started refurbishing the guesthouse. Now that it is completed I think it is one of the nicest properties on the wine trail.
The property will sleep a maximum of 16 people, or can be rented to separate parties in the main house and guesthouse.
What makes this property unique
The proximity to wineries, and area attractions is also great for this property.
