Woodside Nook Cabin at the BHR Farm Village: perfect hiking get-a-way
Nestled in the middle of the Byron Herbert Reece Farm Village, the Woodside Nook is one of the original dwellings of the property, dating back to the 1980's. This one bedroom/one bath cabin/full kitchen is a rustic and bare basics unit - making it an affordable option for visitors to north Georgia. The vacation rental is perfectly perched between Blairsville, Helen, Cleveland, and Dahlonega, and it is within 30 minutes driving distance to 8 local wineries, four waterfalls, and Brasstown Bald (the highest point in Georgia). It takes exactly 2 minutes to drive to Vogel State Park and Lake Trahlyta or hike the 3 mile B.H. Reece Homestead Trail that connects to property directly to Vogel. This unit is a terrific affordable option for honeymooners.

We had an amazing stay at this cozy mountain cabin! The location was perfect, offering stunning views and complete tranquility. The cabin itself was charming and well-equipped, with a comfortable living space. It was the ideal place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring. The hosts were very welcoming and thoughtful, making sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a peaceful mountain retreat!
Property clean and nice… loved the creek and enjoyed the stay.. not the best cell reception at times but the Wi-Fi seemed to work fine inside ..will stay again ..
Home is very convenient to trails and other sites in the area. Very clean and maintained; would have liked a table by the sofa and a front door mat to wipe your feet. Had to buy coffee filters and dish soap, but still very happy with our stay. Would recommend it!
The only issue was that there wasn't any instructions on how to use the gas heater. Other than that, 4 stars. I am a big guy and the shower was nice. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is bc the bed was small for my Wife and I. Starter Kit was a plus.
Great for a quiet getaway, with some minor drawbacks
This property was great for a New Year's Eve getaway for my partner and me. The quiet location was perfect to get away from all the noise and chaos of our home. The only complaint I have is that the furniture was pretty uncomfortable, specifically the couch. The cushions kept sliding out from under us while we tried to relax and watch a movie. The couch has a pull out bed, which we deployed to see if that would be more comfortable, but it was only a slight improvment. Aside from that, our stay was quite pleasant.
I brought my motorcycle with me and I was right in the middle of the “six-gap” roads. Blairsville is only about 15 minutes down the road. There is also a funky little grocery store about a half mile away. I stopped there as they had premium gas for the bike. Nice little cabin (mine was best for one to two, with one bedroom). Don’t recall if the sofa is a pull out or not. There is a little creek on the property and makes for a nice, calming effect. Appalachian Trail crosses the road nearby.
We had a great stay at Woodside Nook. We were in town for a family reunion at Vogel State Park. The cabin is conveniently located just a couple of miles away. The cabin is comfortable and the owner is very responsive. Any issues we had were resolved quickly. I would recommend that the owner leave more than three bath towels for longer stays because the humidity caused our towels not to dry out between showers. Adding some towel bars in the bathroom might help as well. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower. I understand that water reducing shower heads are required by the county, but it made for a very frustrating experience. Other than that we were pleased with the accommodations. I didn’t do much cooking, but there were plenty of dishes and cookware for the little that I did. I did have to teach a couple of virtual classes while there and was happy with the wifi connection. I feel that the description and pictures are accurate for this little cabin.

The property was charming. Hiking and stream just out the front door. The area offered us everything we needed to enjoy a peaceful vacation and location near beautiful areas for hiking. The Reece Farm Village was an unexpected bonus and offered a free concert and history about the area. We will return!
We enjoyed the little cottage by the creek. Just enough room for two people. The area is absolutely beautiful with Vogel State Park a stones throw away. We would stay again and enjoyed that there were no other visitors in the village.
What a beautiful property in a new-to-me so-very-lovely place in the world. The mountains, forests, and creeks of northern Georgia are absolutely spectacular and this was the ideal homebase for exploring. Enthusiastic thumbs up for any prospective visitors.
We had to get away from the city life for a while and couldn’t have picked a better location!! The cabin was just perfect!! Rustic, homey, clean, stocked with all the essentials.
We had a chance to meet Ms. Renee during our stay, she’s such a great hostess!! Very friendly and helpful.
There are a couple other places on the property and they’re all perfectly placed in the middle of the stream that runs around the valley.
We’ll definitely be back AND would absolutely recommend this trip for a great, affordable place to relax and enjoy.
Both of us we needed this vacation and we realy found the perfect place.Cozy ,warm little house.Very close to Vogel State Park. There is a trail. It takes 40 minutes walking and enjoing the nature and the forest. The creek is running .Two fire places outside the house. You can grab your morning coffee and enjoy it outside on the porch or in the neighbourhood..We spent the days visiting the park and the waterfalls.Blairsville is10 min away...The Internet is working very well.So ,I recommend this property..One thing to complain -the stove plates need to be replaced with new ones. The current looked very bad.Like never cleaned.
We had a lovely and cozy stay for our honeymoon. We loved the location and privacy. Will definitely come back and recommend to others!

About the host
Hosted by Sandi Godfrey
The unit is one of the original dwellings of the Byron Herbert Reece Farm Village. It's charming and rustic characteristics are totally original to the property.
Why they chose this property
Just a few minute's walk to the official "farm," visitors are just a stones throw to wolf creek, to the live barn animals, to the garden, and to the walking path through Byron Herbert Reece's mentions of poetry. For the more adventurous, a 1.23 mile paved hiking trail connects the farm to Vogel State Park - with its Lake Trahlyta, Trahlyta Falls, and related water activities.
What makes this property unique
The Woodside Nook Cabin is situated 30 minutes from Blairsville, Hiawasse, Helen, Cleveland, and Dahlonega.
