About this property
A Retro Vibe with Modern Amenities near Bustling Hertel Avenue
Welcome to Heritage House, a fourth-generation family home located in Buffalo’s bustling North Park Neighborhood. This home was purchased by my great-grandparents in 1940, and my husband and I still live in the apartment upstairs! The interior of Heritage House is an eclectic mix of design elements from the past eight decades, an homage to the previous generations of my family who called this space home. The decor may be vintage, but guests can expect to enjoy the best of modern amenities!
Heritage House is a full first-floor apartment with a private, keyless entry. Three bedrooms sleep up to five guests. The retro-inspired kitchen is equipped with everything you might need to cook your own meals, and the dining room seats six. Two bedrooms are furnished with brand new queen-sized beds. The third bedroom contains one twin bed and can also serve as an office, complete with a desk and charging dock for your devices. In the adjoining back room, guests will find a treadmill and workout space with a seating area overlooking the backyard.
We invite our guests to enjoy our backyard garden, lush with organic vegetables, medicinal herbs, and beautiful flowers, all in the same space where my grandmother grew her victory garden while she waited for my grandfather to return during the Second World War. Please feel free to take advantage of the seating, and propane grill in the yard as well.
Want to learn a little bit about my grandparents who once called this place home, and read their original love letters from World War 2? Visit "Seymour Loves Fannie" online to get to know them better!
Heritage House is located steps away from Hertel Avenue, where you’ll find some of Buffalo’s most popular restaurants, antique shops, grocery stores, bars, street art, boutiques, ice cream shops, and an historic movie theatre. We’re also within walking distance to famed Olmsted-designed Delaware Park, the Buffalo Zoo, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House.
Worth Mentioning:
Our dog Penny does bark at the occasional passersby. We don’t discourage this behavior, as we believe it keeps our home and our guests safe from would-be intruders. Though it is usually brief, you may hear the barking upstairs from your space below. If you think this behavior would make your stay anything less than perfect, you may prefer to seek accommodations elsewhere.
We live in the apartment above Heritage House. As a courtesy to our neighbors, we ask that guests not host parties or large gatherings in the home, or play excessively loud music. We absolutely LOVE animals, but our dog has some anxiety about other pets on the property, so we kindly ask that our guests leave their fur babies at home.
A portion of the proceeds from every booking will be donated to PUSH Buffalo, whose mission is to mobilize residents to create strong neighborhoods with quality, affordable housing; to expand local hiring opportunities; and to advance economic and environmental justice in Buffalo.

Why they chose this property
This home was purchased by Rachel's great-grandparents, Abraham and Sadie Sultanik in 1940. Four generations of our family have called this property home during the eight decades that followed.
We became the owners in 2021 and decided to turn the lower flat into a nostalgic vacation home. You'll find little pieces of our family's history sprinkled throughout the space. We hope you'll enjoy the eclectic design - a nod to everyone who has lived here over the years!
