We spent almost a week at the Lake, and had a great time. Nick and Gary were wonderful hosts, and really gave us the space to have what felt like a private vacation. The space was beautiful!
We stayed at The Lake Cottage for a long weekend and it was more relaxing than we could have imagined. The location is quiet, yet close to hiking and antiquing. The space was perfect for our teenager and her friend and they loved swimming and kayaking. We will definitely book here again!
The property was beautiful and clean and we had such a relaxing stay! The owners were helpful and courteous but gave you your space to enjoy. My kids really enjoyed themselves! My youngest especially loved their corgis! They welcomed us with homemade banana bread (delicious!) and provided everything we needed. Smooth check in, and just an overall great stay! We will be back for sure!
Just returned from our stay on the lake and it was perfect. Everything was very clean and you cannot beat the location. A/C and fans worked very well. Gary and Nick were great hosts and responded to any questions we had in a very timely manner. The corgis were adorable - we had so much fun with them! We would definitely plan another stay at their house.
Very peaceful, clean, and cozy with great views. You can see the pride Gary and Nick have in their home. The security team, Dexter, Frank, and Maggie made sure we were safe!We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend!Make sure ask about the balcony.Thank you both for making our trip a pleasant one. It was just what we were looking for.
My granddaughters and I spent a couple of nights at the Lakehouse while attending a show at Deerfield Fairgrounds. The house was well set up with everything we needed. It was only about a 20 minute drive and there were plenty of restaurants, grocery stores and a DD on the way. Gary and Nick were great hosts and after showing us the ropes were very unintrusive.
The lake is right outside the door, and the view from the living room is just beautiful! We were in the area for work and didn't have much time to enjoy it, but there is a gorgeous gazebo on the side and a fire pit on the patio out back - both looking directly our onto the lake. One small downside, the bedroom is quite small - but we did enjoy the view of the sunrise on the lake right from the bed..
The place was super cute and soooo relaxing! Gary and Nick were great and let us be as we enjoyed our time but helpful when we needed them. This was the perfect short escape where we enjoyed fishing on the lake and just time away from home. Highly recommend this to anyone.
Gary and Nick are wonderful - they are there if you need them and are as pleasant as can be. (And their corgis are the sweetest babies!)
Their home is beautiful and very comfortable, with just what you need and easily within all the important routes to take you to the "sites". Of course it's on the lake, so just doing nothing is like a luxury.
Whether soaking in the quiet lake, or using the home for "home base" this was perfect.
We had a wonderful long weekend here! Gary and Nick were great hosts - they were friendly, welcoming, and generous. They went above and beyond and had delicious banana bread waiting for us when we arrived and shared fresh eggs and zucchini from their garden. It was a pleasure getting to take the kayaks they had available out on the water each day and they also offered us floats for swimming.
Overall very pleasant stay! Owners on-site but very respectful of privacy. Loft bed very comfortable for sleeping, but no standing room, so had to be careful. Lots of private seating areas outside - very relaxing to sit and read! Easy access from Rt. 4, and central to all of NH and northshore MA. Would definitely stay here again.
This was the perfect quiet getaway for us after our wedding weekend as a mini honeymoon. The peaceful tranquility of the lake, the homemade jam & banana bread waiting for us, and the zen like plants and statues were perfect. We enjoyed sun bathing in the yard, sitting under the lot up gazebo at night, and the gas lit fireplace. The queen bed upstairs was very comfortable! We took many naps.
Beautiful property, welcoming hosts, flowers, humming birds, dragon flies. My son loved the loft sleeping overlooking the lake. Loveable corgies were a plus. Little bit of street noise from across the lake was the only downside. Otherwise very quiet area.
Was in town for a friends wedding and needed a place nearby to stay. Decided on this lake front and my girlfriend and I couldn’t have been happier with our decision. The property is even more beautiful in person and Gary is a very attentive host. We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh delicious eggs and banana bread in the fridge. I would give my overall experience a 10/10, highly recommend.
Stayed here for my 40th wedding anniversary. Gary and Nick were wonderful hosts and very gracious. The house was immaculate and very comfortable to to stay in. The views are killer enjoyed our first night sitting by the fire pit and looking at the lake. Unfortunately we had the very windy Saturday because of the hurricane that was coming through. Would definitely stay there again. 100% recommend this listing. Thanks again Gary and Nick for a wonderful weekend.
The view is lovely & yard well manicured. The gazebo & patio are very nice. The owners are super respectful, which is appreciated. Most everything was quite clean. The banana bread, waters, coffee & creamer were very nice touches. The decore was wonderfully eclectic. I did have a nice time hiking and going through the antique shops. Loved having a little face time with your corgies. The price point cannot be beat. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
We had a truly wonderful time at Gary and Nick's place. The space is attached to their home and was the original dwelling 70 years ago. It has the cabin paneled walls, a tiny kitchen and bathroom but a spacious main room, and a fun loft that kids will like. The best feature, though, is the amazing setting. The home is located on the lake and there are beautiful outdoor seating areas. The whole property is magnificently maintained. Really everything you would want, even a couple of kayaks and a rowboat. We saw loons, a bald eagle and many ducks. The 3 corgis were great hosts, too. The property is also close to good restaurants. We hope to return next summer! Highly recommend!
Enjoyed the stay at Gary and nicks. House was clean and as described. Rustic in a good way. Has the essentials you need. Reminds me of a traditional New Hampshire/Maine lake house or larger cottage. Back yard right on the lake was extremely well kept and peaceful. Only suggestion I’d really have is although the large windows outlooking the water is an amazing view. It would’ve been nice to have some curtains or drapes on the windows. Will absolutely consider renting from them again next year for our yearly trip.
The house has a separate apartment and it is right on the lake. Guests have use of a rowboat and two kayaks. We used the kayaks and enjoyed paddling around the lake. The bedrooms are in a loft area with a slanted ceiling so you had to be careful not to bang your head.
Gary was very nice and answered promptly when I asked for the WiFi password. They provided dishes, pots and pans, some bottled water, half & half and sugar, and some spices.
My husband and I would definitely stay here again.
This was a relaxing little apartment to stay in off the beaten path. The little apartment was connected to the owners home by locked doors. However, we felt totally secluded as if we were in our own separate cottage. The queen size bed was in a loft with a very low ceiling, as the home was only one and a half stories. We could not stand up in the bedroom. The stairs were also very steep and narrow. It worked well for us to keep our luggage on the lower level. The living area was huge. Our favorite was the outdoor gazebo where we could relax in the morning with coffee or in the evening. The kayaks were very nice and clean and easy to use. The lake was peaceful. The owners keep an immaculate property with beautiful flowers and plays all around. The gas grill for our private use was great! We enjoyed the local brewery and pizza place. Northwood Meadows State Park was very close and great for hiking. We hiked the NALMC trail which was 5.7 miles.
We had a lot of rain but it was great to be right on the lake and also great to have usage of the row boat and kayaks for fishing (mostly small mouth bass)...I wouldn't consider this lake totally ideal for small children/swimming but it was definitely clean and quiet and a lot of that could have had to do with the rainy weather. the grounds were immaculate and you can tell there is pride of ownership from the beautifully manicured lawn and flowers to the clean interior. The second floor was challenging to sleep in as you could not stand and it got a little hot up there and felt crowded so I could see where that might not be ideal for some people looking for more space.... I would consider it more of a loft. overall we had fun, there was a lot to do in the area (Chucksters, antiquing, brewery, restaurants, etc) and we saw brilliant 4th of July fireworks. Hosts were on onsite but you wouldn't even know with the way the house was set up up so that was zero issue they were really respectful of privacy and kind. I saw a review about the noise/highway and wanted to note that it was definitely not a big deal and the house was not on the main road.... felt private enough.
Thanks for having us!!!!!
