Cairn Cottage on the North Shore of Lake Superior!

Welcome to Cairn Cottage. This beautiful, entirely tasteful and comfortable Lake Superior home sits right on the shore of Lake Superior. Quiet, private and easy to get to the water's edge and enjoy what you came for...the sounds and sight of the water and waves. We can't say enough about how well-appointed this home is and our guests can't say enough about it either! The two spacious bedrooms both have lake views, cozy & comfortable beds/bedding and they each have a 3/4 bath right next to them. One main floor bedroom and one upper level bedroom plus the loft. The upper level loft accommodates two guests comfortably on the plush twin beds. Did I mention that there are Lake Superior views from practically everywhere inside this gorgeous place!?

This was our 8th summer at Cairn Cottage. It is a perfect get away for our family of 4. It is so cozy, we love being right on the water and you feel like you have the whole lake to yourself.

Cairn Cottage was a great place to stay. We had 6 people stay and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is very well appointed, comfortable and clean. The location is excellent for exploring the North Shore. The beach is fantastic and easy to get to. All around extremely pleased with our stay.

Our family of four had a fantastic time at Cairn Cottage! The home is in a great location along the north shore with a quick drive to Lutsen and Grand Marais. The home is so comfortable and well-stocked with games, cooking equipment, blankets and more! We loved watching the fog roll in and out through the gigantic picture windows and listening to the waves all day long. Highly recommend this cabin!

We have been at Cairn Cottage several times in the last few years and every time, it has been like spending a few days in paradise. Access to Lake Superior is easy, it is not far into Grand Marais or Lutsen, love that it is near the Cascade River, and the cottage is very comfortable. We are looking forward to being back next year.

Perfect and beautiful shore view! Very clean, cozy, and comfortable cottage. Loved the deck and the grill, too. Thankful we brought a little step stool because the bed was high (as is popular these days) and I don’t think I could have gotten on the bed without it.Great location! Felt private with all the trees around us but not far from Lutsen or Grand Marais. Lovely place to relax and enjoy the view!

The fireplace was wonderful and so easy to function. We weren’t there for shopping. We were there to enjoy the beach and the water. Stayed in the cabin and out on the beach most of the time. It was just wonderful.

Amazing. We’ll be back. Can’t beat location. The view from the living room is great. Walking on the beach was so fun. Beds were comfortable. Water pressure was good. Dining room table was fun for games. Perfect winter get-away.

I can’t recommend Cairn Cottage enough! It fit 6 adults perfectly and made for a great home base for a Lutsen skiing trip. The distance between Lutsen and Grand Marais is perfect to make the most of the trip too. Well found the cottage to be super cozy and easy to navigate. It was clean, organized, and very welcoming. We hope to return soon!

Absolutely beautiful cabin and setting. Great decks, nice fire pit by the water, easy access to the beach. Close to Grand Marais and Lutsen. Could it ask for anything better. Gorgeous sunrises right from the deck or front room.

Gorgeous Cottage right on the lake! It's even more beautiful in person. Waking up to the sunrise every morning was a gift, as was falling asleep to the waves of Superior.

We generally stay in six or seven vacation rentals a year throughout the country. The Cairn Cottage was easily one of the best we've ever stayed in. My son suggested we try to buy it! The cottage was spotless when we arrived. The interior is beautiful and the views are spectacular. The cottage was nicely stocked with everything we needed. We've been to many places where the hosts skimp on paper products, soaps, towels, sheets, etc. That is not the case here. The hosts even left pancake mix and syrup, which the kids loved. The cottage has a gas grill that worked well, a large fridge, and a dishwasher.Our 10 and 12 year-olds slept comfortably on the twin beds in the loft and we slept well in the bedroom on the same floor. There was even a baby gate for the stairs, which we used since my daughter occasionally sleepwalks. Cairn Cottage served as our base for exploring all of the North Shore. It was centrally located to the many sightseeing and hiking areas to the north and south. For those who collect rocks, the beach is full of colorful rocks and my daughter found a nice agate. There was rarely anyone else on the beach. When you're in the area, check out World's Best Donuts and Superior Creamery, right across the street from each other in Grand Marais.Thanks for a great stay!
