We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was equipped with everything we needed. The large glass windows and spacious deck were perfect for relaxing and taking in the wide views of the Kennebec River and shoreline. We particularly enjoyed the sunsets and birds. We highly recommend the cottage for anyone looking for peace and relaxation in a beautiful setting.
This was our 3rd visit and we love this place! Right on the water, has everything we need and easy for our 98 year old Mom to get around. David and Jenepher are great hosts, always available if you have a question and they check in to ensure all is well. We hope to back again next year!

Thank you for saying such nice things. It’s really easy to have you 3 in the cottage. I never worry because I know that you can gracefully pivot if anything goes sideways. Including your Mom! It makes me so happy to know that she loves it so…
This was an amazing experience! On the Rocks was a once in a lifetime find. Sun or clouds it was amazing. The sunsets are divine. Our hosts were so attentive. You can be in the water, hike and explore. The house was spotless having an amazing deck to see the view and have coffee every morning was spectacular!
Great stay at On The Rocks! The pics don’t capture the care and thoughtfulness David and Jenepher put into this place. We loved it and are already talking about when another stay here is happening! Clean, great cooking kitchen and supplies..and that view…memorable.Thank you!

~ thank you for such a thoughtful review. You are perfection renters down to boat rescue team! No hesitation whatsoever to recommend you two!
Beautiful spot with amazing views of the Kennebec, Fort Popham, and lots of comings and goings on the water. The weather changes as quickly as the tides with fog, cool breezes, and full sun. It is a glorious spot to avoid the heat just 10 miles inland. It is a terrific launch pad for walks, beaches, bike rides, food, and tourist spots.
We have never been to a more beautiful location! The cottage was spotless and fully stocked with everything needed! The views are breathtaking from every room and balcony. The area is very friendly and peaceful. Absolutely perfect vacation!
On The Rocks is the ultimate Maine getaway. Tucked into the end of the Georgetown peninsula, you have no reason to leave. And yet, there is so much to explore in the beautiful part of Maine from state parks/beaches to fun waterside restaurants and quaint shops. David and Jenipher have outfitted the house with everything you’ll need for your stay. The house is spotless and check in was a breeze with David showing us around. We’d love to return to this little gem!

Some how I’ve never seen this Respond option before! Even though it was last year, I truly appreciate that you took the time to write such a thoughtful review. Our Best, Jenepher
Views were wonderful. Sunset gorgeous every night. You will want to bring kayaks or an inflatable boat with a motor to putter around with if you have one. If not you will simply relax on the deck. Wonderful stay
Booked this with another couple. The place was exactly as advertised, a maritime cottage over the water. High and low tides changed the views and smells. This was exactly what we were looking for in a quiet getaway.
We had a fabulous week in this amazing cottage on the rocks. The home is a special place; well appointed with everything you need. Communicating with the hosts was easy and they were attentive to our needs. Thank you David and Jenepher for creating this beautiful spot!

What is not to love about thoughtful, most excellent trouble-shooting guests!?!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our comfortable and relaxing stay in the cottage, perched on the water. We look forward to our return and the best view in Georgetown, Maine! Thank you!

I think Deirdre and her husband left the cottage cleaner and tidier than how they found it when they arrived! Stellar!
Our stay at this exceptional spot was heavenly. The house is peaceful, beautiful, and stylish—very Maine-y, too! Should one get antsy relaxing on the spacious deck, there is just enough to do in the area. Beach access is provided. The owners are readily available if assistance is needed (we texted). I can't imagine a better stay. Incredible views!
If there is a better place with better hosts on the Coast of Maine we have yet to find it! David and Jenepher are wonderful and this cottage is fabulous! As Jenepher said 'you can't get any closer to the water without being in it'! We had a great week here and hope to be back next year.
The place is very peaceful and soothing. It was a totally relaxing experience for us. It has a village feel to it. On the first day, a local fisherman caught a large tuna and it was a highly festive occasion as everyone in the village came out to greet the boat when it arrived. The folks where incredibly welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this special spot on the sea.
We loved our stay at On the Rocks. You can't get closer to the water without getting in it. Glorious scenery, including nightly sunsets; stylish setting; fully equipped kitchen; cheerful vibe; access to iconic beaches, steamed lobsters, Bath and Brunswick. Sorry to leave.
There was constant activity directly next to our rental that was a distraction from relaxation. A boat under repair with daily vehicles creating noise including saws, drills and cranes. There was never a dull moment and we looked forward to dull vacation.

About the host
Hosted by Jenepher Burton-Johanson
We live in Portland, Maine, just an hour south of Georgetown Island. We had looked and looked for a long time to find a property for the 3 of us to call our own. We were open to renovating a place, but it had to be on the ocean and be, well, exceptional in some way. It has been said that you can’t change a location, which we believe is correct. So, if that is the case, wouldn’t you prefer to watch the sun as it closes out the day from your deck or dining table? We may have gotten more than we originally figured in the renovation department but everything worked out in the end. Now we get to share this wonderful spot with folks from all over the country as well as our extended family and friends which is the best feeling.
Why they chose this property
Bay Point is both charming and vibrant. For decades the area was home to year ‘round fishing families. Most of the cottages have shifted to seasonal families who have come here for ages and have a deep adoration for this small community. Devotées I would say. It’s hard not to fall in love with a place that has both significant natural beauty as well as smart, funny, caring and capable neighbors.
What makes this property unique
Our property is literally “on the rocks ” and over the ledges…at night while you are sleeping, the high tide will very likely be sploshing around underneath you. Think sailors’ lullaby…During the day time there is loads of wild life to be seen, eagles, osprey, geese, ducks, seals, striped bass jumping, pogies swirling as well as kayakers, pleasure boaters and fishermen. Waterfront access and a protected sandy beach with in walking distance.
