We fell in love with this cozy cabin on our girls trip!!! It was close to everything and still far enough away to be peaceful. We will definately book again!! Property owner Gerry was awesome and even texted to see how everything was going!! Wonderful experience with this owner and the property!!’
Host was welcoming and very accessible! The cabin was decked out for Christmas with a tree and everything and just adorable! Had everything we needed and was so SO cozy for Christmas! Location was awesome! It was not quite into the very congested traffic of Pigeon Forge yet and very close to Publix, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, etc! Will schedule this same rental in the future!
Everything was redecorated from the original pictures, and was so nice! Be cautious with the hot tub - I believe it to be unlevel. Wouldn’t recommend for the elderly or people with disabilities because of the steep driveway and stairs to get up to the cabin/very steep stairs for the loft. My husband had to help me up to the porch from the car. Stairs were wet and slick so I almost fell. I’m 32 with a few small disabilities. Instructions were very clear on what to do for check in and check out (made it easy!) We couldn’t get the tv to work and we tried for about 2 hours. Wi-Fi wasn’t working right - never could watch anything. However, they do have dvds you could put in. Bed was hard as a rock, I slept a total of maybe 2 hours. It IS a cozy little place though, and located in the perfect area! Would be great for a young couple or family!

Well, I am definitely going to respond to this review! First, Lauren said, "everything was redecorated from the original pictures." Absolutely not! The pictures in my listing are exactly how my cabin looks. Next, she said, " Be cautious with the hot tub - I believe it to be unlevel." What is going on with this woman? No, if it were unlevel, we would have leveled it! Her next complaint was "the steep driveway & steps." I invite everyone to check the pictures on my listing & see what Lauren describes as a steep driveway & steps. There is actually a railing that starts in the driveway & goes up the steps to the porch, too….so there should not be any problem there! If the steps were wet, it was because it had rained & you would need to talk to God about that, Lauren. I do not control the weather.
Now I am just trying to understand her next complaint of "very steep stairs for the loft." Lauren, my question for you is this: since you said you have some disabilities & had to have help to the porch from the car…. why in the world would you be climbing steps that only go to the kids' loft playroom? Maybe just something else to complain about?
WIFI & all TVs are checked by the Housekeeper at each cleaning & she sends pictures to me as she leaves. Guess what…. I got them & everything was working just fine on the day of Lauren's arrival. That would be called "user error".
Now for that bed that Lauren described as “hard as a rock.” It just so happens that both of the king mattresses are very nice top-of-the-line Copper-infused memory foam pillow-top mattresses, yet she complained about that, too. Just for the record, Lauren’s stay was ONLY A ONE-NIGHT RESERVATION. Yeah, that’s right…. JUST ONE NIGHT! I am sure glad it wasn't longer because there is no telling what else she would have come up with to complain about in my beautiful cabin. LOL
We have stayed at this property for the last three years and love it. We have stayed at a Geri McBride cabin for the last five years. The property is clean, well furnished with a great location. Geri is absolutely wonderful. I can’t recommend her and her properties more. You will enjoy your stay with Geri.Jerry
Cozy and very enjoyable, would highly recommend to friends. Had a couple small glitches but hostess promptly solve the problem. Thank you for a very enjoyable week.
The stay was nice. Convenient to food stores and gas stations.
We really enjoyed our stay here. There were some "upkeep" things that probably need to be addressed, which didn't inconvenience us, but overall, a nice place to stay.

You said you really enjoyed your stay...No, I don't think you did with your 3-star review. It would have really been nice for you to have expressed in your review what you enjoyed about your stay.... if you did. Yet, you only mentioned "upkeep things that PROBABLY need to be addressed which didn't inconvenience us". We are all trying to figure out what in the world the "upkeep things" are that you are talking about. If it didn't inconvenience you as you said, why mention it in your review?
My gorgeous cabin has been on the rental market for less than 8 months with 21 5-star reviews, so I
am just wondering what could be so wrong & what "upkeep things???" are you talking about that you felt you had to make mention in an online review?
Also, I kinda believe you didn't read the statement that said for you to enjoy your stay & leave the maintenance concerns up to the maintenance folks, hu?
We have stayed at a Geri McBride cabin for the last four years. There is really no reason to go anywhere else. We have loved the cabins, the locations and Geri is absolutely wonderful. You can't go wrong with a Geri cabin.
Great location if you don’t want to be in the mess of pigeon forge and Gatlinburg… nice cabin, minimal road traffic and no mountain roads… worked perfect for us to just unwind, unplug and relax!!
The property needed general maintenance to help keep up with its use. Also, the housekeepers could have paid more attention to detail in the main living area. Unfortunately, the loft was unavailable for our stay. The location was excellent! Communication with the property manager was very prompt.

I am going to address every line of Seth’s review to tell the entire story about his review:
1. “The property needed general maintenance to help keep up with its use. This is the message I received from Seth (copied & pasted)
“Washed a load in the washer, no problem. Moved the load to the dryer and took a while to get the dryer to start. Almost as if there’s a short somewhere or a safety switch missing. The dryer ran the cycle but did not get the load completely dry. Tried to restart the dryer and it absolutely will not start. Now, we have a washed load waiting the washing machine to move to the dryer also.”
The appliance repairman arrived, he pressed the reset button, and the dryer immediately worked as it should. He said the problem was caused by the guests overloading the dryer. He said, “Most dryer motors have overload protectors that turn off the motor when excess strain is put on it.” $178 bill to me for this guest’s negligence.
2.” the housekeepers could have paid more attention to detail in the main living area.” Seth, we communicated about the dryer, but absolutely NOTHING WAS MENTIONED about “details to the living room,” Whatever the heck that means. If there had been an issue, my policy clearly states to contact me & issues are promptly resolved. I also want to remind you that in your review, you said, “Communication with the property manager was very prompt.” So, if there was a TRUE issue, why not tell me when you were there instead of writing it in a review?
3. “Unfortunately, the loft was unavailable for our stay.” Seth, I would really like for you to show me where there is any mention of the loft being accessible to guests.” Oh, you can’t??? That is because there is nothing there!!! I will use YOUR EXACT WORDS mentioned in your review……..Seth, you COULD HAVE PAID MORE ATTENTION TO DETAIL. As my Mama would say “that is the pot calling the kettle black.”
Great location, close to everything but yet in the woods. Two king size beds were comfortable. Tv in every room. Easy check in. Cabin was clean but a little dusty in some areas. A lot of decor to look at! Good communication from host.
We enjoyed our stay at this fun bear filled cabin. The decor was adorable and the home was comfortable and clean with everything we needed. The location was exactly what we hoped for. Close to attractions, shopping and restaurants. Our host was communicative and we knew we could reach out if we had questions.
We enjoyed our stay at the property. The kids enjoyed the bear décor. The property was easy to get to and not far off the main highway in Sevierville. Although we didn't cook, the kitchen was well stocked with essentials.
Geri is a wonderful host! The cabin is in a great location. Only 7 miles off the interstate and very convenient to everything! You don’t have to deal with the traffic in Pigeon Forge or Gaitlinburg. The gate on the deck allowed my fur buddy to enjoy the stay also!
We recently stayed a week in Old Bears Lodge. This was our second stay in this cabin. We absolutely love all the bear decor and the coziness of the cabin. It’s very convenient to local restaurants and entertainment. The owner is quick to respond. The check in and check out could not be easier! The stairs leading into the cabin are a little steep for those who are older or can’t get around as well as others. Overall, it’s a great cabin and we would absolutely recommend it!

I live in Nashville & have been going to the Great Smoky Mountains all of my life. It all started when my Daddy would take the whole family there every year. I loved it then & I still love it now. The Smoky Mountains have so many wonderful memories of my childhood & I never get tired of going there. These days, my trips are with my Great Pyrenees, Buddy. His favorite thing to do is to layout on the deck and watch for bears that come to visit.

Why they chose this property
My love of mountain cabins began when I bought my first cabin called the Chocolate Moose in 2007. Over the years, I learned there was a real need for cabins that could be accessed without traveling on any mountain roads. Old Bears Lodge cabinis perfect for that. There are absolutely NO mountain roads to travel & the location is super convenient when you want to visit all the wonderful area attractions, outlet malls & restaurants in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. Also, it is conveniently located to I40 just a half-mile from Soaky Mountain Water Park, the newest area water park that consists of 50 acres of fun-filled activities for the entire family and The Wilderness Water Park.
What makes this property unique
There are NO white-knuckle-scary-mountain roads to travel going to Old Bears Lodge cabin. It is very convenient to I40, it is located close to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg activities. It is on a very quiet street just off of the main road at Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg.
This adorable bear-fun-filled cozy log cabin is ONE level 2 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin.
Old Bears Lodge has 2 king bedrooms, one bedroom is on the north end of the cabin & the other bedroom is on the south end of the cabin, offering maximum privacy. Each bedroom has its own full bath inside its bedroom for complete privacy from the rest of the cabin.
