Stylish Cottage Retreat by the Sea in Carpinteria

This charming and stylish, beautifully refurbished cottage is 1.5 blocks from Carpinteria State Beach, 1 block from Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park and a few blocks to the heart of town. Included bikes, beach chairs, beach wagon, and cooler all make a fun-filled day at the beach effortless. When you return, rinse off the salt and sand in the warmth of the outdoor shower.

We were honored to have our cottages (#248884 & #336069) chosen to fill the "Little Gem" category of Carpinteria Beautiful's annual Home and Garden Tour in April 2012. They were also featured in Carpinteria Magazine's winter 2010 edition.

The cottage features bamboo hardwood floors, tasteful furnishings, central heat, ceiling fans in the bedrooms, and all the comforts of home. Beautiful, original paintings by local artists adorn the walls. There is a bedroom with a queen bed and another with a bunk bed with a twin on top and full bed on the bottom. A lovely patio in the yard with an outdoor dining table is the perfect spot for a sunset dinner. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There is a fully upgraded kitchen with stone countertops and all new appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave and ice maker. You will also find a washer and dryer for your convenience. We offer a library of beach and summer themed DVD's and wireless internet at no additional charge. Games and books are in the cupboard for mellow days around the house.

The surrounding neighborhood is very peaceful and the neighbors are friendly. There are several antique shops and wonderful restaurants within walking distance, as well as nature trails and wonderful bird watching one short block away. Or, hop on the bikes and head to town! Thursday afternoons offer a fresh Farmers Market. The town of Santa Barbara is a short drive away and hosts a zoo, museums, shopping, golf, art events, botanical gardens, the Queen of the Missions, wine tasting and more! Stop in Summerland for great antiquing, then glamorous, celebrity-filled Montecito along the way.

Great little house! It had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. A variety of restaurants within walking distance. Spent a day on the beach which is right down the road and another afternoon walking on all the nearby trails. Love the fact that we could do it all without having to move the car once!

Everything was outstanding. The only problem we had was that someone knocked on our door at 8 pm saying they were from frontier and wanted to know if we were interested in up grading the internet. I thought it was a little weird as it was dark and rainy. Would definitely rebook. Thanks!

Cottage has all of the essentials, close to the beach. Beach chairs, umbrella, paddle boards, bikes and other odds and ends are provided in the rear shed which also was handy to keep my road bike in. With no A/C it can get warm in the front of the cottage in the afternoon with the sun exposure during higher heat days especially with no sea breeze. Nice to have the off street parking.

Great Amentities

The cottage is located in a great location close to the beach and town. The owner provided wonderful amenities including beach toys, chairs, a wagon, umbrellas and boogie boards. We appreciated the outdoor shower, patio, and tar wipes. Unfortunately the house was not as clean as I had hoped and there was hair in the bathroom as well as food and debris underneath the bunk beds. The only outlet in the bathroom was not working and could not be repaired during our stay.

This little community and this cottage were perfect for our long weekend in California. Walk to so many good restaurants and cute shops or hang out at the beach, super chill vibe, less expensive than Santa Barbara but close enough to enjoy it all.

Perfect Spot!

The cottage was a perfect end to our trip! Kat, our host was terrific, check in and out so easy! The beach is a quick walk, town is also walking distance. Everything we needed was there. The beds are comfortable, beach towels, toys and chairs, the kitchen is well equipped for the simple dinners we cooked. We will definitely be back!

Surf trip

This was a perfect location for SB/Ventura county surf spots. The cottage had plenty of space, super clean, and walking distance from everything we needed in Carpinteria. Definitely would return!!!

We expertly and extensively refurbished them throughout, upgrading EVERYTHING and making them very livable and lovely. They are now complete and we are ready to share them with people that will appreciate the fine quality of our charming cottages.

Why they chose this property

Carpinteria is a charming town. The beach is amazing and there are many other local activities and good restaurants. We live in nearby Santa Barbara.
