Jeff & Jess were very friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect for day trips around Maine. As a wheelchair user, the space was exactly what I needed!
Very beautiful home on a great piece of land to explore with our dog. Impeccable cleanliness and wonderful hosts. We’ll definitely stay again when we are in the area!
Great option in Freeport. Beautiful room, grounds and great location. Stanley, the friendly Bernese Mountain Dog, will say hello and is a wonderful addition to the experience.
Located in a beautiful area on the water. It was clean and the perfect size for the 2 of us. Located in the middle of our day trips South to Boston and Providence, and North to Acadia National Park.
This small yet comfortable studio was quiet, scenic and minutes from Freeport. Had the April weather been nicer, we would have spent a lot of time on the deck and using the kayaks. The last evening we enjoyed the bird activity. Would definitely stay again!
Everything was wonderful. It felt like a B&B because we got to meet this lovely family in the common areas. But it was totally private at the same time.
This is the second time we have stayed here. The apartment is lovely, clean and convenient to the Freeport, Brunswick and Portland area. The property is beautiful and welcoming which definitely includes the enchanting 4 legged concierge by the name of Nelson. It is perfect for a couple and the kitchenette is well supplied. Hope to be back when it is a little warmer to enjoy the surrounding area.
Great location. Walking distance to Wolf's Neck State Park and Wolf's Neck Agricultural Center. Quiet spot well back from main road. Excellent communication by the hosts. Easy check-in. Nice bathroom. Otherwise a one-room space. We were there in winter; probably really nice in warmer seasons when you can enjoy the deck and waterfront. In winter, some noise from the outdoor heat pump units that provide the heat for the entire house and rental unit mini-splits.
This apartment is located just outside Freeport and is on a very beautiful property. Immediately upon arrival, the greeter /concierge, Nelson, met us at the car. Nelson is a very friendly Bernese Mountain dog that accepts treats that are provided. The apartment we stayed in was just what we needed after having car problems and having to extend our stay in Maine. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable and clean. The kitchenette was well stocked with everything needed. We enjoyed this property very much and would return if in the area.
A cute room with efficiency kitchen and nice bath. Very easy to access - no steps to lug suitcases! Very private and quiet spot with nice view of cove. Super friendly couple who were hardly noticeable. Easy short drive from Freeport and Brunswick. A perfect spot for us with our young pup. They let us use the washer/dryer in the garage right across from us too! And dog bath! Will definitely try to use them again next visit to my daughter's in Brunswick. Thanks Jess and Jeff!
We came to Jeff and Jess’s but didn’t really see them. We did however have the pleasure of becoming extremely close with their dog Nelson (our choice!) who was a dream. A total sweetie. The house was clean and the property is quiet and set back from the road. It’s right on the water (not the ocean, more of a bay) and full of wildlife. Don’t expect much room to cook but we managed with what they had! :)

About the host

Welcome to the coast of Maine! We hope you have a wonderful stay at our waterfront home on beautiful Wolfe’s Neck in Freeport. Relax, unwind, and enjoy the privacy, natural surroundings, and scenic coastal setting that make this property such a special place for us and our family.
We first discovered this property in the summer of 2014 while on our way to Wolfe’s Neck State Park to walk our beloved dog, Gustav. From the moment we found it, we envisioned creating a peaceful retreat where guests could experience the beauty of coastal Maine while still being close to everything Freeport and Portland have to offer. Today, we are fortunate to call this special property home along with our son, JJ.
We own and operate ProActive Properties and have been hosting guests in some of our favorite travel destinations since 2014. Jeff is also the owner of ActivSport Travel, an international educational and sports travel company, while Jess has a background as both a professional soccer player and high school math teacher. Our passions include travel, skiing, soccer, the outdoors, and creating memorable experiences for others.
Whether you are here to relax by the water, explore coastal trails at Wolfe’s Neck State Park, shop in Freeport, or enjoy Portland’s incredible food and brewery scene, we hope your stay becomes a memorable Maine experience.
Please make yourself at home and treat the property with the same care and respect you would your own. We also hope you find our recommendations and guidebook helpful while exploring the area.
Enjoy your stay!

Why they chose this property
This property is the result of a dream come true when we first walked this land back in 2014 when it was just a forested, undeveloped lot on Casco Bay's Harraseeket Cove. We envisioned turning this peaceful place into our forever home and every aspect of it has been designed by local architects and craftsman. The materials are sourced locally right here in Maine and the natural surrounding of coastal wetlands and forest makes for a unique environment for wildlife that is not found anywhere in the country outside of Maine.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property unique is the rare combination of privacy, waterfront scenery, and convenience. Tucked away on 8 wooded acres overlooking scenic Harraseeket Cove and South Freeport Harbor, the property offers a peaceful coastal setting surrounded by nature while still being just 5 minutes from downtown Freeport, LL Bean, local restaurants, breweries, and shopping.
Guests can enjoy nearby coastal trails at Wolfe’s Neck State Park, relax on the private porch overlooking the water, watch wildlife throughout the property, and experience the natural beauty of Maine’s coastline while staying close to many of the area’s top attractions.
Despite the quiet and secluded atmosphere, Portland’s award-winning restaurants, breweries, live music, and scenic Old Port district are only 20 minutes away, making this the perfect base for an authentic coastal Maine getaway.
