About this property

Rainier Retreat close to White Pass

Beautiful, spacious, light filled home in a private peaceful setting with no close by neighbors, and still within close proximity to year round activities. The backyard backs up to national forest with a huge trail network and trails right from the yard that can take you to a great waterfall, and out the front is a 5 minute walk to community pool and golf course. Mt Rainier 14 miles, White pass skiing 20 miles, and national forest trails, and gorgeous Cowlitz river all right there.
The space
Our home is sitting on over half an acre and surrounded by beautiful trees and forest for ultimate peace and privacy.
In the backyard, there’s a great fire pit, and trails that go right from the backyard all through the national forest leading you to a waterfall - just a 5 minute hike behind the cabin. There is a great system of trails right from the back yard to hike, cross country ski or snowshoe.

When you walk inside the house, you will notice all the light in the high-vaulted ceilings in the living room. There’s a big new wood stove with lots of firewood and kindling for a cozy fire after skiing. The fireplace is surrounded by U shaped sectional couch, large enough for the whole family, and breakfast bar and a spacious kitchen that’s equipped with everything you could possibly need to cook up a storm. Since we are coffee lovers, you can expect to find all the essentials, A pour- over, milk froth, coffee pot and hot water kettle for tea as well as an assortment of teas and coffee.

Our home is a short drive to the East Entrance of Mt. Rainier National Park where you will find amazing vistas, a trail to the "Grove of the Patriarch's - a scenic 1.5 mile loop a through towering thousand year old cedars that will take you across a beautiful suspension bridge. Continuing up the Mountain to Paradise or Sunrise you will be treated to awesome views in 360 degrees of snow capped mountains, glaciers, and prolific wildflowers.

You may see elk in our back yard or in the forest behind your bedroom.
Guest access
Community pool - the High Valley Country Club is a five minute walk where for a small fee ($10) you can swim all day in 3 pools, which include showers and changing rooms.

Community golf course - Adjacent to the pools is a delightful 9 hole course that has an inexpensive green fee of $40 if you register in advance. Details, photos are on the High Valley Country Club (Packwood) web site

Forest trails miles of forest trails leave right from our back yard all the way into Mt Rainier National Park and through the National Forest.

River - The High Valley community is on the banks of the Cowlitz River which cuts a meandering mile wide course through the valley with huge trees uprooted by melting glaciers from the mountain. There are dozens of private access points for community members and their guests.
Other things to note
We allow dogs on a case by case basis with preference for smaller hypoallergenic dogs under 25 lbs.

Cabin
The house was nice. Great system of trails right behind house on NF land. Go to the right and there is a waterfall. You can go further but the hike is more difficult. At the Y before waterfall is a moderate difficulty trail. The opposite direction the trail is flat, with many moderate hikes going up from it.

Mt Rainier vacation
The house was perfect for our family of 4. Located in a quiet neighborhood but close to town. About an hour drive to get to Mt Rainier NP. The trail from the backyard to the waterfall was pretty cool as well!

great location
Very quiet property which is what we were looking for. We loved the short hike to the waterfall! The drive to Mt. Rainier was easy and this was a great homebase for day trips.
