The Space:

New listing!! Welcome to the Ponderosa Country Haus!! Newly renovated 2-bedroom 2 bath home that can accommodate up to 14 guests. Huge yard with carport, picnic table and a shared firepit! Relax on the porch with a glass of wine and watch the firefly’s dance. Across the street there is a gated walkway with direct access to the Guadalupe River. Nice shallow area of the river great to bring a chair and sit in the water and watch the tubers go by! Little Ponderosa Outfitters is right down the street to rent tubes and shuttle service. Just a short drive to Sattler with a grocery store, liquor store, dollar store and dining options.



Walk into this cozy house with a fully equipped kitchen that includes all the comforts of home. Kick back and play some games at the dining table with 2 bench seats and 4 chairs. 2 additional bar stools at the kitchen island. Smart TV, free Wi-Fi and a comfy sofa.



Master bedroom has a queen size bed and en suite bathroom with walk in shower. 2nd bedroom is the bunk room. Spacious with 3 sets of full over full bunks. Big comfy sofa in bunk room as well as a large closet for your river gear. Smart TV also in bunkroom.

Gather around the shared fire pit and outdoor space shared with the neighboring house (Barn-dominium) which is also available to rent and sleeps an additional 14 guests. Neighboring house may be rented by a separate party during your stay.



There are wonderful tube rentals, shuttle services, and entertainment up and down River Road! Interested in fishing? This is the perfect place for you! The Guadalupe River is stocked with trout starting December 1st! Just a short drive to Gruene and downtown New Braunfels, which both offer several restaurants, entertainment, and numerous activities. Gruene Hall is the oldest dance hall in Texas and a famous landmark. Gruene also offers great shopping, restaurants and wine tasting. Close to the San Marcos outlet malls, Schlitterbahn and Canyon Lake. Host must be 25 years of age or older to make a reservation and must be staying at the property. No pets allowed. This home has a maximum occupancy of 14 guests. This maximum occupancy is not to be exceeded at any time. No daytime guests allowed. You can park 6 vehicles at this property. To comply with city and county short-term rental permit restrictions, the outdoor areas of this home are monitored by video camera. This property includes accidental damage protection up to $3000.

Check in was super easy! They utilized a text system which I really liked. The house was perfect for my husband and our four boys. The room with all the bunk beds is where we all ended up sleeping because it had a tv (the master doesn’t). The kitchen has pretty much everything you’d need! You will need to grab your own salt and pepper but that wasn’t a big deal. We stayed 6 nights and had no issues. The river access was great and we had a blast! We would absolutely stay here again!

Great stay

I would have given 5 stars if the ac wouldn’t have been broken when we arrived. They did work hard to get repaired but it wasn’t repaired until almost 10pm. We didn’t unpack until it was repaired out of fear of having to move so most of our first day was waisted! Other than that we had a great stay and would definitely stay again!!

Clean and basic necessities were available, and thankfully the propane tank had more than enough gas. River was across the street, a short walk away. Only wished pets were allowed since we missed our dogs, but it's understandable. Luckily, the other rental wasn't occupied and we had the firepit to ourselves which was nice (bring firewood), Im not sure how it would have went if we had to share the firepit with other people. No issues with communication. Def will be back.

Be Prepared to Buy Almost Everything

This place served it's purpose, but at a huge extra expense. "Fully stocked kitchen" must mean something different to these guys. There were lots of plates, silverware, and glassware. An assortment of pots, hardly any utensils to cook or serve with, and the ONLY thing they supplied was a half a pack of generic coffee filters and two of the cheapest rolls of paper towels ever. NO foil, no plastic wrap or ziplock bags, no salt or pepper, or spices at all, no sugar packets, nothing. The oven was broken and only half worked and they didn't even have a dish drainer. One of the main lights took like 30 seconds to come on after you flipped the switch, so I was afraid the place would catch on fire. The washer and dryer were in the main restroom and there was no laundry basket, so don't drop your clothes on the restroom floor. Of course, there was not any laundry soap or dryer sheets either. The BBQ pit had an empty propane tank and NO utensils to cook with. Fire pit, but no wood, lighter fluid, or matches. There was not even a broom or dust-pan, just an old school mop. I had to buy trash bags and toilet paper. Oooohh, and the "Cable TV" doesn't have local channels, so I had to subscribe to a service to watch the football game that I had invited everyone to come watch. Then, my 70 year old mother tripped over the 2 inch lip that separates the walkway from the driveway...and busted her butt good. When I reported it to the owner, he said "Well, there's nothing I can do about that, is there?". Very dangerous...and she wasn't even drinking. The "en suite bathroom" was tiny and awkward. The shower slopes, so water runs out on the floor, the tray to hold your shampoo slopes, so your bottles keep falling. I had to use towels to deal with both. There were lots of towels. The property served it's purpose for a family get-together and the fenced in yard kept the kids from running off, so it wasn't a horrible place to stay. I traveled over 2,000 miles to see my family and shouldn't have to pack my BBQ utensils, or foil, or laundry soap, or everything else. I won't go back and I won't stay at another "New Braunfels Escapes" location.

Michael, As stated in our welcome letter and contactless email, we do not provide any perishables such as any and all spices, coffee, laundry soap, dryer sheets, wood for the fire pit, lighter fluid, and lighters. We do give out a starter pack of amenities to hold you through until you can make it to the store. There is a full sized dish washer for your convenience so our guests don't have to wash the dishes by hand. So we apologize as we did not see a need for the dish drainer. We will keep that in mind. Pertaining to the oven, we were not aware of the issue. It could have been something as simple as a breaker trip. If you would have given us a call we would have been more than happy to send maintenance over to get that fixed. If we are not made aware of an issue we are unable to get the issue fixed. The same applies to the light issue you had as well. As far as your complaint about the laundry, it is not stated in our list of amenities that a laundry basket is supplied. When it comes to our propane tanks, we do state that we do not provide a full propane tank, if the propane tank is low you are more than welcome to get it filled at your nearest convenient store. As almost all convenient stores have Blue Rhino exchange stations. We do not provide cleaning supplies as you did pay a cleaning fee that service is taken care of after your departure. This unit does provide cable, however there are limited channels so we apologize for that. We apologize your mother had an accident, however there is nothing we can do about the drive way set up as we do just manage the home itself. In our listing, the pictures and descriptions are a very accurate description of the home and property. I apologize if you did not like the set up. We do manage over 130 properties in the area, perhaps there is something better to suit your needs? We strive to always provide a 5 star experience, and apologize that yours has fallen short.
