About this property

Hot Tub, Outdoor Theater, Fishing, Magical

The pond is shared with guests staying at the glamping site across the creek.

Enjoy the magic of this cottage nestled at the base of a hillside along a gorgeous creek. Feel the history that comes with this cottage and helps everyone feel at home. It was built and settled 80 years ago by a family who used its spring to supply water for the surrounding neighbors.

Fish in the stocked private pond; wade in the bold creek that winds through our five-and-one-half acre property; play a game of tetherball or badminton in the large open field, or just relax in a rocking chair by the fireplace. Enjoy sitting in the hot tub. Invite family and pack tents for the large grassy yard in the front.

We provide maps of the local area as well as books for finding those special waterfalls and hikes.

You can take a five minute drive to view a beautiful waterfall, or swing by the creek and listen to it running swiftly by. The cottage is an easy 15-30 minute drive to many local attractions, including waterfalls, lakes, golf courses and gorgeous blue ridge mountain drives. Namely DuPont, Pisagah National Forest, Sassafras Observatory, and Gorges State Park. Enjoy the peace and serenity that comes with this hidden jewel. It’s historic feel will make you want to stay.

The privacy this place offers is something that makes it very unique. Five acres to spread out and explore is a large area for a family. A private trout pond for entertainment and wadding in the creek to cool off in the warm months is something that you do not get just anywhere.

Our cottage has been shared with special guests for over 15 years and has over 200 Five Star Reviews.

Wonderful stay on the river!
We had so much fun playing on the property! We used the kayaks in the river, played ping pong, went in the hot tub each night and watched an outdoor movie. We ate most our meals at the cottage, but enjoyed the Forks of the River taproom just down the road for a beer by the river. All the family friendly waterfall hikes were not too far of a drive and were stunning! We had a lot of great family time together and would come back!

Amazing getaway
This location was amazing. We spent most of our time playing in the trout sream and at night we would cook over the fire.

About the host

Hosted by Abbie B

Host profile image
We are a family of five that love adventure. From the mountains, to the beach we love to explore and visit new places. Our three littles are along for it all. As your hosts we create an experience that we would enjoy.

We love mountain biking, hiking, seeing sights, playing in water and good food. We are well traveled and know what a host should do to create a comfortable guest experience. Our favorite places visited so far are Kilimanjaro, Costa Rica, and Ireland.

Why they chose this property

You will feel the magic of this property as you open the gated entrance and cross the wooden bridge. The colors, scenery and life that flourishes here is unbeatable. We fell in love with it the first time we pulled up. Entering the cottage and hearing the familial history of the home is what really got us hooked. This house was built in the 1940's and has only had 3 owners since then. The original family that built the home provided water for the community with the spring discovered up the hillside. Take time to admire the stone retaining wall and cellar behind the house as well as hidden steps up to the spring.
