About this property
Modern Mtn Cabin+Walk to DT+Hot Tub
It's an easy all-season drive to this modern 3BR/2BA cabin/home for 1 to 6 guests. There is a 7 min walk to Waynesville's vibrant downtown with shopping, dining, and entertainment. Waynesville is known as the gateway to the Smokey Mountains.
Maggie Valley's elk along with the Cataloochee ski area and Tub World are a short,10 minute drive. Explore the nearby Great Smokey Mountains NP & Blue Ridge Parkway to the west. Asheville is a 30 min drive to the east. Cherokee, NC and Gatlinburg, TN are to the west & a picturesque Parkway drive from this home base.
Enjoy the mountain view from our over-sized front deck with warm sunsets. Private back yard garden with hot tub on a large deck, w/ grill. Stay in and enjoy various games in our open concept Living w/ fireplace or lower rec room with decorative stove for those cooler mountain nights.
All pictured/listed amenities are available to all guests. The home has a main, upper level and a lower level. The main level includes a full bath and two queen bedrooms, open concept living space with a full kitchen. The lower level includes a second, more kid friendly living area, a second full bath with washer/dryer and a third bedroom set up as a king or 2 twin beds - guest choice.
Access the home at the top of the stairs and enter the large open designed dining, living and gaming area. Enjoy a home cooked meal around the farm table, snuggle up on the sectional for a movie night, or be challenged with a night of games and darts around the gas fireplace.
Granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and hickory cabinets provide a warm, comfortable place to cook in the well stocked kitchen. Intimate dining available at the breakfast bar counters that also overlook the living and gaming area.
The front Mountain View Bedroom offers sunset mountain views, with extra windows and desk area. The back Garden View Bedroom overlooks the manicured backyard with a private access door to the wraparound deck and hot tub.
The main level full bath is accessible from the hallway and the Garden View Bedroom. Over-sized fluffy bath towels, local soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided.
The lower level full bathroom is accessible at the bottom of the stairs, located in the hallway. This bathroom includes the full washer and dryer which is available to all guests.
Spend time outside on the 3/4 wraparound deck. In the front, sit and watch the sunset over the mountains. In the back, enjoy a backyard barbecue, dine at the picnic table or relax in the hot tub.
The yard is designed to provide privacy from the neighbors and focus your attention on the Mountain View. The backyard is a private park oasis with tiered flower beds and evergreen shrubs and trees.
The driveway has ample parking available for 3 cars. Plus a one car garage space under the porch can be used. Note, proceed slowly up the short driveway as some lower suspension vehicles may scrape.
All modern shopping conveniences are within a 10 minute drive around town.
Use the home for a home base as you explore the greater area.
West on the Blue Ridge Parkway will take you into Cherokee. From there you can either take your adventure northwest into Smokey Mountain National park, Clingmans Dome, and Gatlinburg Tennessee; or head toward the Tail of the Dragon, which is 50 miles southwest.
East on the freeway will take you into Asheville in about 30 minutes. Or you can choose the relaxed scenic drive on the Parkway to Asheville.
The Blue Ridge Parkway provides access to many hiking/biking trails along with rivers and waterfalls. We also suggest using the 'All Trails' app for detailed information regarding trail heads.
Get out and enjoy the fresh mountain air. You will feel the difference!

About the host
Hosted by Tom & Carol

We are sharing our Great Smokey Mountain Getaway for all to enjoy. After experiencing the area on vacation we decided to stay! Western North Carolina, especially Waynesville and the surrounding area, has become our forever semi-retirement spot for so many reasons. Please enjoy all the area has to offer and share your stories with us.
Why they chose this property
After much research in the area we decided on this property because the neighborhood is walkable and unhurried. The home has a beautiful nature-filled back yard and the street-side is quiet with mountain views. The drive is very manageable all four seasons - those of you who are familiar with mountainous areas know what we mean. Lake Junaluska and the Cataloochee ski area are minutes by car. Outdoor adventure is all around us. Waynesville restaurants are diverse very good. We traveled extensively before choosing this community and are blessed to be able to share it with others.
What makes this property unique
Located on the southeastern end of the Smokey Mountains, Waynesville has affectionately been called the Gateway to the Smokey Mountains. This home is located on a quiet, publicly maintained, residential street. A short walk to the quaint downtown Main Street, full of shops, restaurants, breweries and events. Nearby is the historic Frog Level neighborhood, nestled along the Pigeon River. All the modern shopping and conveniences are within a very short drive of downtown. Access to the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway is a 15 minute drive....your gateway into the Smokey Mountains. Driving access to the home through easily navigated public roads. Proceed slowly up the short driveway as it is possible to slightly scrape the underside of some lower suspension cars.
