Nice location. House had everything we needed. Went for a Clemson game and the travel to and from Clemson was easy. Nice tavern right across the street with live music. Would stay here again.
Has a small kennel area for the dog, giant grass yard (4 acres) for the kids to play outside.
We chose this one because of it's closeness to Jocassee Lake.
Very private and a great small town appeal.
We now have found the house we will use again when going to the lake. It was updated beautifully and had everything we could want. Extremely clean! Thank you!
While visiting our daughter in Clemson, we searched for something in the mountains that was pet friendly. This home was PERFECT! It was the cleanest VRBO we have ever stayed in which speaks volumes since it is pet friendly. The front porch had a latch so the pups could be out front or in the perfect fenced in side yard. Location was great, beds were comfortable and the home had everything we needed. We were extremely pleased with our stay and plan to be back.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The proximity to Lake Jocassee was th biggest draw for us. Only 12 minutes away from Devil’s Fork State Park. The kitchen was well supplied. We loved sitting on the porch in the evening listening to the music from the pub across the way. The pub also had food trucks each night so if you didnt want to cook dinner you could grab a quick meal there. We notices a small leak at the base of one of the toilets and made one call and it was fixed in a few hours. Great response and communication from the owner on this. We would definitely stay again.
Great if traveling with a pet. Large yard, small fenced in area. I found the bed uncomfortable, my husband and child slept just fine. And there was only one towel and one washcloth per person. Otherwise it quite basically had all you need. The location being 10 minutes from Devil’s Fork is the key to this property. It is right next to a gas station and across from a pub. Both close early enough that there is no noise.
Our family had a nice visit to the Lake Jocassee area. We liked the location of this property because it is only about 10 min away from Devils Fork State Park and allowed pets. It was easy to access the sites as well. The property was very quiet considering it is off the main street, beside the local gas station, and across from a tap room. If you stay you should bring extra curtains or sheets to cover the windows. The curtains are see through and offer no privacy. There are also at least 3 sets of different instructions in the house as well as an Email set that are all slightly different. It would have been nice to have that more streamlined. Otherwise this is a good property to access the state park.
Please read the whole review. I am going to be 100% honest.
The house was very clean and quite. The king size bed was extremely soft ( I was told). I slept in the queen bedroom and the bed was perfect for me, firm but not to firm.
The house is situated behind /next to a gas station and the driveway is beside the parking lot of the gas station. There is a great brewery right in front of the house (across the main street) with good craft beers, live music and food trucks. They close at 9pm on the weekends.
We brought our 15 foot pontoon boat and parked it 25 feet in front of the house. During the night on Saturday, our gas tank unhooked and stolen. My husband went over to the gas station and the lady told him that theft had been on the rise there. The owner of the Brewery came over to the house and said Yes, Theft had been on the rise there and that he would check his camera footage. After going to a couple of places, we bought a new gas tank for $75.44 from Walmart. I called the management company and told them what had happened and asked where I should send the bill. This is what she said and I quote " Well, its like if you left your car unlocked and your pocketbook was in it and it got stolen, Its not our fault"? Then she texted me "Unfortunately living among Thieves is becoming ridiculous"
I have filed a police report and VRBO is investigating.
I definably would NOT stay here.
We enjoyed our stay very much. A wonderful place to stay. Initially we were disappointed that the home is right next to/behind a gas station and we were worried about noise. But it closed very early and there was never a problem. The extras provided made us feel the hosts cared that we had a good time. A truly cozy place to stay.
Love and care went into this restoration, centrally located and easy access to everything. Extremely clean, beds were very comfortable. The fenced in doggie area right outside the back door was a very pleasant and convenient surprise.
This was a great place to stay! It was only 10 minutes away from Devil’s Fork State Park and 30 from Gorges Park in NC. It is very pet friendly, it even has a little pet yard! We really enjoyed our stay!
We loved the Cozy Cottage in Salem. It was the perfect size, was very comfortable, the beds were amazingly comfortable, and it had all the necessary items (washer/dryer, dishwasher and associated cleaning products, TV’s in every room, although we didn’t use the ones in the bedrooms, and other essentials to make our stay perfect. The property is huge and was close to our family which made it exactly what we needed.
The con we had was the cleanliness of the home when we arrived. The floors and the bathrooms needed a cleaning and since there were cleaning products available in the home, we cleaned it ourselves.
I would stay here again and I would recommend this lovely home to others.
Very nice home, really enjoyed the fireplace during the recent winter storm. Staff was readily available. Could use a bedside table lamp in the 2nd (?) bedroom., but everything worked and was substantially supplied with kitchen items.
