About this property
Secluded Hilltop Retreat: Log Cabin + Hot Tub
Welcome to the West Virginia mountains and to AMAZING sunset views!
An amazing hilltop setting for this log home that has EVERYTHING you want in a vacation; mountain views, hot tub, fire pit, modern amenities and furnishings, game room with billiards, ping pong, and much more. Enjoy spectacular views of the beautiful West Virginia countryside while soaking in the hot tub. Only 2-hours from Wash DC. A perfect getaway; you may decide to stay longer!
Our home is a genuine log-constructed home built in 1998 by one of the local families who owned the surrounding lands for years. The stones that you see in the fireplace and in the exterior retaining walls were collected by the family from rock quarries and outcroppings in the local area. The home sits on the hillside with rolling hay fields on the front, sloping ravines on either side of the house, and the forested ridge behind the home. We have filled the home with contemporary and classic furnishings that reflect our personal tastes and heritage, but also that make our home a true destination to help you enjoy your country escape. Our goal is to continue a tradition of maintaining a home that is as beautiful as the countryside around us for our personal enjoyment and to share with our guests. Enjoy evening sunset views from the front deck, a soak in the hot tub, a game of ping pong or billiards, or roasting marshmallows around the fire pit.
Guests will have access to everything in the home, including the hot tub, fire pit, and the barn/game room with billiards table, ping pong table, beanbag toss (cornhole), and a bocce ball set. Guests also have full access to all kitchen appliances, pots, pans, utensils, dishes, dinnerware, glasses, coffee pot, etc. The home also has a washer, dryer, dishwasher, iron/ironing board and hair dryer. Please be aware that indoor fireplace is decorative only, not operable.
Other things to note;
While the home is not child-proofed for infant children, we gladly welcome families with children of all ages. We just recommend that you bring your own items needed for your infant.
The barn/game room is open year-round, but is not weatherized/winterized. So, it has no heating or cooling. In winter, you may need to dress warm to enjoy it, and in summer, open the sliding barn doors for a beautiful view of the countryside while you enjoy some games.

About the host
Your host

Your hosts have owned this beautiful slice of heaven in West Virginia since 2016 as a weekend home to escape the hectic work pace in Washington DC. We are excited to share the home with you - our guests!
Why they chose this property
Having grown up in a country setting or going there frequently to visit relatives, the wide open spaces and fresh air have a special attraction to us to escape from the face-paced urban environment. We fell in love with this property and the amazing hillside views, and are offering it as your secluded country escape.
This part of West Virginia is a great launching point to venture out for excellent hikes, river rafting, quaint, small-town visits, and viewing such scenic highlights as Seneca Rocks and the State highpoint, Spruce Knob. We are far enough away from cities to enjoy the peace, tranquility, and night-sky viewing, yet close enough to obtain conveniences you need during your stay.

What makes this property unique
Views! Views! Views! When we purchased this home, neighbors from miles around enviously let us know that we have the best views of any home in this part of West Virginia. They couldn't have stated it more accurately. Our phones are full of photos of incredible sunsets, blossoming springtime wildflowers and birds, summer hay fields getting mowed for hay, and snow-covered slopes on all sides, isolating our warm and cozy cabin as an island of tranquility. We enjoy waking every morning to see wildlife all around us, from deer, bunnies, and birds to even the occasional bald eagle!
Our home is truly a destination on its own. We converted a barn/workshop into a large game room where families can enjoy ping pong, billiards (pool table), foosball, and to even get in a quick workout on our weight bench setup. When we purchased the property, we also added a fire pit, BBQ grill, and six-person hot-tub, which is conveniently located on the west side of the home where you can sit and watch the sunsets.
