About this property

Reflections on Mill Creek | Hot Tub & Walking Distance to Old Fort!

Upon entering this colorful & contemporary retreat, you'll immediately be greeted by the quirky installations that include a bright red candy machine, abstract paintings, mannequin feet, pillows with animals dressed as gentlemen, and a wall decked out in ornate and mismatched mirrors. The interior color palette seamlessly ties baby blues, fresh whites, and bright oranges together, along with funky patterns and textures, to create a bright and inviting atmosphere that will instantly relax you and encourage fun. Outside, you'll find an open-air deck that provides the perfect space to have your morning coffee or dinner al fresco while enjoying the beautiful views and calming sounds of Mill Creek and a hot tub that's perfect for soaking after a full day of adventure and hiking. Reflections is just a 1-minute drive and 5-minute walk from the quaint town of Old Fort. Known as the Gateway to the Blue Ridge, Old Fort sits at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is surrounded by lush forests and a diverse wildlife community. Old Fort's Native American and railroad history can be felt throughout town-including a hand-carved, 14-foot rose granite arrowhead on top of a 15-foot river rock with a concrete base featured in the middle of town. You can also find local-favorite Hillman Beer in the middle of downtown, with its savory burgers, gorgeous river views, and cold brews.

Within the mountains of Old Fort, you'll find Pisgah National Forest with over 67,000 acres that include hemlock forests, cove forests, bogs, and fens. Andrew's Geyser, Catawba Falls, and Point Lookout Trail are among some of the oldest and most celebrated outdoor attractions in Old Fort. Catawba Falls is a stunning 100-foot cascading waterfall, and Point Lookout Trail is a popular 4-mile paved trail that ascends almost 1,000 feet through the Swannanoa Gap. Take a short 15-minute drive to reach the neighboring towns of Black Mountain and Marion. Known as the Front Porch of Western North Carolina,? Black Mountain, boasts 3 local breweries (Lookout Brewing, Pisgah Brewing, and Black Mountain Brewing) along with novelty shops, art galleries, parks, and incredible restaurants like Foothills Butcher Bar, Louise's Kitchen, and Black Mountain Bistro. Visit the other small town of Marion and spend your afternoon exploring the new 310 District, an indoor shopping space that's home to Marion Wing Factory, Toonez Chop House, Marion Hot Wheelz indoor skating rink, Chances of Sprinkles Bakery, and several retail shops. Reflections is also just 25 minutes away from Asheville where you'll find the iconic Biltmore Estate & Gardens. Take a 35-minute drive south to reach the village of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, where you can enjoy family-friendly fun that includes a swimming beach, water park, twilight dinner cruises, boat tours, and boat rentals (paddle and pontoon).

Please note: Reflections is NOT pet-friendly. The home is near the railroad track, and it is not uncommon to hear and see a train coming "around the bend" into town-an exciting prospect for train & railroad enthusiasts!

Beautiful view
The house was great. Neat. River view fantastic. Close to downtown Old Fort and hiking. My only criticism would be a little more attention to dusting objects, otherwise the house was clean. Our first day there it was very hot and the air was not great in the bedrooms, but the rest of the stay the air was fine.

Perfect location
This location was perfect for our week visit. We did everything from the Alpine Coaster, visit Asheville, float a river, and many of more exploring adventures. No drive was too far and returning back to a hot tub and the sound of the creek made for a relaxing evening. Would def recommend this location to anyone interesting in visiting Asheville but want to stay outside of the city.

Great little place
My family thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We enjoyed the hot tub and being able to enjoy the nice weather out on the patio. Once the rain started, we were able to stay inside and play games. My only suggestion would be to rehang the bathroom mirror. I am 5‘9“ And my husband is 6‘3“ and we had to squat down to be able to see into the mirror completely.

Perfect base camp
The property is in an ideal location for hiking and relaxing. It’s within walking distance of restaurants, close drive to trailheads and not far from Asheville if you want a bigger city. We enjoyed chilling on the deck listening to the creek while others in our group participated in the Hellbender 100 mile race. It’s very close to the start/finish and not far from the other crew/accessible aid stations. The house was super cute and had everything we needed for a short weekend. It was nicely decorated, beds were comfy and it was in good shape/clean.

Greybeard Rentals manages vacation rentals and vacation cabins in Asheville, Black Mountain, Montreat, Old Fort and surrounding areas. Located 10-15 minutes from downtown Asheville, Black Mountain is a quaint town with many great shopping options, delicious restaurants, breweries and access to hiking trails and wilderness areas. TripAdvisor named Black Mountain one of America's Prettiest Towns in 2017. Asheville is home to award-winning restaurants, stunning mountain views with access to areas like the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Biltmore Estate, and a variety of local art and culture. Oh, and did we mention Asheville has had the record for having more breweries per capita than any other U.S. city? We held the title for Beer City USA in 2009. Hiking trails are also located throughout western North Carolina.
