Close to Lake Susan & Creek adjoins back yard Stained & painted 2022
THERE IS A GLITCH IN THE SOFTWARE OF VRBO WHICH STATES THAT THIS PROPERTY HAS A SWIMMING POOL AND HOT TUB. WHICH IS INCORRECT. THE GLITCH HAS EXISTED FOR SOME TIME AND TODAY SEPTEMBER 22, 2024 WAS TOLD IT STILL EXISTS AND THAT VRBO IS WORKING ON RESOLVIN THE PROBLEM. WELCOME to the Jones Cottage on Kentucky Road; beds will be made upon your arrival. In 1990 the residence was "gutted' and redesigned by a Knoxville architect for both casual and fun living. Air-conditioning was added a few years ago.
In the last few months the cottage has had serious maintenance and repairs including new shingles, entire cottage stained, and trim painted, gazebo roof repaired, and master bedroom and bath painted with some repairs as well and the back porch and balcony rails have been replaced. Looks as good as it did 32 years ago .. in my view. Located a short walk from The Barn, Lake Susan and the Huckleberry. This residence should be on your "short list" for many reasons, including the beauty of the creek in this back yard! The large deck can host 20 for a meal or is a perfect place for a nap or to cuddle up with a good book. We will let the pictures speak for themselves. Bedding: Two bedrooms upstairs with bath 1 Queen 2 Queen Downstairs I King Bed with en suite bathroom.. only bathroom on the main floor and has a shower.
The house is not suitable for rental to youth or college groups and therefore shall not be rented to either. Cleaning fee of $ 120 is an additional charge.

Such a relaxing and comfortable setting for our mountain vacation. The well appointed cottage in its beautiful setting was perfect. Thanks to our hosts for their attention to details!
We were in Montreat for a conference. The house is in a lovely setting backing the mountain creek and is very convenient to the conference center. It was very clean, very well maintained, and had top quality amenities. We’re planning to return!
The cottage was cozy and charming. Through the screen doors, you can hear the creek, which we loved! This is an ideal location in Montreat—you can walk out the door and be at Lake Susan in three minutes. It was a wonderful weekend getaway.
Beautiful house in Montreat in a perfect location! My family always enjoys staying in this house. It is close to everything and backs up to the stream.
We loved our time at this cottage. Montreat is a beautiful and peaceful place and this home was perfect for our family. The owners were friendly and very communicative, before, during, and after our stay. We will are looking forward to going back again soon!
This creekside cottage was the perfect setting for our family vacation. Inside was comfy and cozy, and the porch, yard, and creek gave ample places to enjoy the mountain air. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
Enjoyed our few days in Montreat at The Jones’ Cottage. The cottage was clean and well stocked. We had everything we could possibly need. Look forward to a return visit.
My family has enjoyed Montreat annually for what will soon be three decades, and the Jones Cottage has become our place of choice.
The location is convenient and delightful with the babbling brook behind the cottage. Its restful living room, the well-equipped kitchen, the spacious veranda and gazebo -- all make for a very pleasant visit that the whole family can enjoy together.
Bills house is perfect for family . It`s right on the creek which was a lot of fun. The house has everything you need and is very comfortable.Bill and his wife were very helpful in answering any questions we had and easy to reach.
We found the perfect place to get away yet still lay low for a much needed Covid break. Loved the house - especially the kitchen. We were able to hike right from the house most days. Lots to do while socially distancing. Great communication with Meg.
Bill and Margie's home in Montreat is not only comfortable and beautiful, but it is also a perfect place for a vacation for all ages. The home is in a serene and lovely area in Montreat close to Lake Susan and near enough to Black Mountain to enjoy restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed family time playing games, reading, and cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. Most of all we enjoyed taking in the beauty of the mountains. The house has a wonderful outdoor space as well. Bill and Margie were incredibly welcoming, and we were so appreciative of their hospitality. We highly recommend this lovely home and hosts.
Such a lovely, welcoming retreat. Truly what you expect in this beautiful, historic gem of an area. This home is cozy and obviously loved by the family who owns it. If you are looking for a great spot to enjoy nature, hikes, a babbling mountain stream in your back yard , a beautiful and huge porch to gather with family and friends, Montreat is a great place to retreat! And you will love this home! We will be back! Thank you
What a great long weekend my husband and I had at Jones Cottage! All the amenities, but most importantly, a warm and inviting home. Well-stocked kitchen to cook up a fine meal to have with friends or just the two of us. We did both! The furnishings are eclectic with a lot of artwork, ceramics and wood features. The house is lovely. Sunny in the morning and cozy at night. The babbling creek behind the house encourages a good night sleep. The house was very clean, and has all the amenities. A neat neighborhood of old family houses and vacation homes with lots of privacy. We would come back! Asheville about 20 minutes and Black mountain just a 10 minute drive. Our hosts checked in with us to make sure we had what we needed, including a place to fish the following day. Thank you again!
Drove ten hours & planned since April. Got there, no key. Called owner & had to leave a message. Found the extra key. The house was a mess. Beds were not made & laundry in front of the washer. Dust everywhere & fingerprints all over the dining table. The ceiling in the bathroom upstairs was collapsing. There was a smell of mustiness. Some furniture on the porch had a broken leg & in disrepair. Owner Bill was very rude to start with. He offered to send a cleaning crew in a couple hours but after his nastiness & condition of the property, I ask for a full refund. He said it wasn't his problem when I said where were we supposed to stay for the night. I'm sure this was a wonderful place at one time but it has been grossly neglected. Fortunately, I was able to contact a very nice VRBO owner I had used before. She helped us locate an available home. It was smaller but very nice.

We greatly enjoyed this charming home for our long weekend in Asheville. My in-laws arrived before we did and were concerned the water in the bathrooms weren't working. We called Bill and since he couldn't get a plumber right out that night to check the problem before he called us back he had arranged for us a room at the Inn just down the road so we would have showers that night.
As it turned out, my in-laws were just unfamiliar with how to turn the faucets on. So it was not a problem at all, but I think it's important to know you'll be staying with a host that is very responsive to your every concern.
The home was extremely clean and the decor was charming, warm and cheery! We could hear the water rushing from the creek behind the house as soon as we got out of the car and it's a beautiful sight to see in the morning with coffee in hand. The kitchen was updated with quality appliances and the washer and dryer were new as well.
If there was anything adverse about our stay, it would be the comfort of the beds, but we also practice sleep medicine for a living so I'm not sure anyone else would be as particular, although Bill was even concerned about making everything even more comfortable for future guest.
My family and I would certainly love to return in the future if there's an opening. This was a wonderful find on VRBO, the convenience to area attractions, the local flare of Black Mountain and our few days in a home away from home, will add to the memories of our life. Enjoy your stay too!
We had a wonderful time staying here. Bill and Margie were very responsive to any questions we had. Their home is just as shown in the photos-- very clean, eclectic and tasteful decor, with wonderful outdoor spaces to enjoy. We appreciate how much attention the owners have paid to the details that make their guests feel so at home-- comfortable beds, high quality towels, well-stocked kitchen, etc.
