Thank you, Grace! Always happy to have you as our guest. Until next time…
Mary Ida's was the cutest tiny home get away for my husband and me. Margaret and David were the most gracious hosts, there to answer any questions and provide the best recommendations for local restaurants. I would absolutely recommend staying here for anyone who needs some downtime, away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

Property was cute, clean, and just what we needed for our short stay in Old Fort. It was also very convenient to downtown and Catawba Falls. The homemade bread, fresh farm eggs, and coffee were an added special touch that we appreciated very much.
Wonderful little house right on main street close to everything, it was perfect for the race... will definitely stay again!

The home is simply adorable and comfy. The hosts are wonderful and make you feel very welcome. Close to so many wonderful things to do and great little shops. I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy everything there was in and around Old Fort.

Thank you, Jamie. Please come back again to check out more of the area… we’d love to host you again!
The home was very clean & had a fresh, clean smell upon arrival. Very spacious for the 2 of us. We also had a nice snack basket with homemade bread, fresh eggs & water in the fridge. The home was walkable to a homemade cinnamon roll bakery & a grocery store. You could also walk a little farther into town but we chose to drive. Great location to black mountain & Catawba Falls!

Thank you for your review, John. We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to host you again!
My family and I called it our Home Away from Home. It felt so good after a long day to just come back to our tiny home and relax. We really enjoyed the ability to cook our own food in the kitchen and do laundry when we needed too. It was perfect. We will most likely stay again sometime in the future. Thank you for such great communication ever since before I booked our trip. You were so kind and helpful when seeking things to do in the area. We recommend going to Asheville and Catawba Falls.
Hi Sidney! We’re glad you thought we have a great place and we agree! We’re sorry you had difficulty getting in or out of the tub - we’ve not heard that from a guest before. However, we do have another property just outside of town that has a different tub if you return to the area and want to consider that one. It’s called Railway Rest and is also listed on this platform.
Blessings,
David and Margaret
Loved staying at Mary Ida’s Place. It was super clean and in a perfect walkable location to downtown. Margaret left a yummy loaf of banana bread that I shared with my classmates at Earthhaven. Can’t say enough about what a great well-kept and perfectly sized cozy place it is! Definitely would love to stay there again 😊

About the host
Hosted by David and Margaret
We've lived and worked in the area for almost 30 years. We're not natives, but love the area and can't wait to share our tiny home and all the area offers with our guests!
Why they chose this property
We already have a successful Vrbo rental just outside town - Railway Rest - and wanted to add an in-town location, giving guests a cozy home with a walkable location. Our home honors Mary (Granny) Ida who lived on this property for years, raised her children here and was welcoming to so many.
What makes this property unique
Although tiny, our home has a spacious feel and is equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable stay, whether it's a few days or a few weeks. Walk or bike to restaurants, shops and the many trails the area has to offer.
