About this property
Restorative Mountain Home with Stunning Views and Cool Breezes
Rancho Diandrew is nestled up the mountain in San Josecito de Osa. The deck boasts stunning views of Bahia Ballena (Whale's Tail), and the higher altitude provides cooler weather year round. We are located next to a bunch of waterfalls, surfing beaches, and wildlife preserves. There is literally every kind of fun jungle, ocean, and river activity at your fingertips. The town of Uvita is just a short 10-15 minute trip down the mountain and has all that you need to stock the fridge. It's a great place to read a book, watch birds, hang out in the hammocks, and do yoga and meditation.
A note about our place and living in the jungle: this place is homey, gorgeous, and peaceful, but it is in no way perfect. If you're looking for somewhere that is 100% sealed from the elements, insects, and weather conditions of Costa Rica this isn't it. This house is nestled on a pad of property ensconced within secondary rainforest. The same thing that allows you to see toucans and tapirs off of the deck is what also makes for the hum of cicadas in the background and the presence of a variety of grasshoppers, moths, and other bugs at night. None of these want to harm you or molest you, but remember that you're a guest in their environment and not vice versa. Similarly, we do our best to provide you with clean linens, towels, and dishes, but this is not a 5 star hotel, it's a home. Everything will be clean upon your arrival, but if you take offense to the occasional mismatched sheet or towel with a small hole, we suggest you look for luxury accommodations elsewhere. We have priced the property accordingly.
The SW of Costa Rica is an extreme humidity environment. There are three main seasons: Dry, Rainy, and the "Little Summer" in July and August. May, June, September, and October are the rainiest months with downpours at least 1x per day. These months are also host to some of the most brilliant lightning storms you'll ever see. We have a dry container on the property for you to store your electronics and any other items you'd like to keep dry regardless of the season that you visit. We recommend storing electronics in there whenever not in use. Another note about rainy season: the local town of Uvita is much more quiet. You'll have easier access to tours, surf lessons, and anything else you'd like to do in the area. Everything ramps up in the dry season December-April.
PLEASE NOTE:
In accordance with Costa Rican regulations and the launch of the new national tax system TRIBU-CR, all lodging providers are now required to collect basic identification details from the guest who made the reservation. This includes full name, nationality, and passport or ID number.
This legal requirement, established by the Costa Rican Treasury effective September 1, 2025, applies to all stays booked through third-party platforms. The information will be handled securely and used solely for compliance with local tax and tourism reporting obligations.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us meet Costa Rica’s national tourism and tax requirements.
