A really charming and spacious house-we didn’t cook but the kitchen is great, and there’s a big dining area. It was clean and comfortable for our weekend stay.
The house is cute and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, however the AC/electrical breaker situation was causing some problems. Alex was easy to reach and available whenever we needed. Location was also convenient.
Lipstick on a pig. This property is old and run down and has had only superficial improvements. Years of accumulated grime were inexplicably left uncleaned and visible on doors and handles. The WiFi was unreliable and this really was an issue since cell phone coverage is so spotty. Our check in experience was miserable because the owner had changed the procedure and hadn't bothered to update the instructions on the website. initially he couldn't be reached and customer service could not help. Waited for nearly an hour in the dark outside the property for him to finally assist us in getting access.
Lovely stay at the Historic Hudson Valley home. The property owner was SO responsive (literally minutes) to our questions. His home was beautifully designed and cozy for a fall weekend. Great heating. Both bathrooms have accessibility bars for those who need them.
If you are disabled & have mobility issues, the stairs are steep & may be difficult to manage. However, there's an air mattress in one of the bedrooms that could be used on the lower floor. Making one of the downstairs rooms a lounge/sleeping room could greatly improve accessibility, esp given how accessible the bathrooms are.
Given the entrance steps, would not recommend this to a full-time or ambulatory wheelchair user. But the rooms are large enough to accommodate rollators, etc.
A few things that could help the space (from a woman's pov - please don't take this as an insult! These recommendations could improve coziness):
- bedside table lights would make the bedrooms easier to navigate once overhead lights are turned off & encourage bedtime reading, esp if someone forgot to pack a book light
- cozy blanket throws for the couch. The couch is incredibly comfy and cozy but the lack of soft throws had my friend & me curled under oversized throw pillows
- Warmer/heavier duvets/bedspreads. Sheets are nice, especially for a short-term rental, however, the bedspread is rather thin, as were the provided blankets.
Overall, this place is splendid. SO warm & cozy. Loved it. Such potential as a rare accessible stay!!
We stayed here for a fall weekend and had a fantastic time. Kitchen and living areas were amazing, the beds were very comfortable and it was surprisingly quiet despite the age of the house. Doors could use some upgrades maybe, but everything looked just like the photos and there were even ripe pears in the backyard!
Getting into the house was an adventure, the instructions to find the lockbox aren't great and the door lock itself was prone to stick and hard to open with the key so I ended up trying all 3 doors more than once before I could get inside.
A very easy walk to downtown Saugerties where we grabbed coffees, chocolates, books, and dinner a couple of the nights when we didn't eat in - all located in a cute older neighborhood. Overall a great find!
The owner was very helpful and available to us for the entirety of our stay. The property is very conveniently located and was clean, warm and welcoming.
