Historic Heath House steps from the Neuse River

Access the Neuse River via community park at the end of the block or explore Historic Downtown (1 mile). Use our tandem bike to get around or try paddle boarding or kayaking on the river.

Perfect for singles, couples or families who want to relax on the porch and explore all New Bern has to offer.

Sip coffee or wine on the front porch or back deck. Cook a gourmet meal in the fully equipped kitchen or grill out on the deck. Downstairs includes: large living room with Roku-equipped TV, dining area with plenty of seating, office with desk and printer, full kitchen with all amenities, washer/dryer and half bath.

Upstairs, the main bedroom features a king bed and sunny seating area to relax and read. The second bedroom has a queen bed and original, decorative fireplace. A full bath with walk-in shower is also upstairs.

Guests can access the entire house and outdoor areas including deck, firepit and seating areas. Room for three cars off street in driveway. Free street parking is also available.

We had an excellent stay at the Heath House, a lovely historic home in the heart of New Bern. We felt like we were staying in a doll house. PJ was a great host, the house was very clean and comfortable. The front porch was a lovely place to sit and sip our morning coffee even during a week with temps in the nineties. We would not hesitate to book there again.

This house is a gem. A historic home with character in a quiet neighborhood but so close to downtown and all New Bern has to offer. The kitchen has anything you could need and the front porch is a wonderful spot to relax!

This is a well maintained historical property near many attractions. The host is responsive and accommodating. The king size bed is very comfortable. The upstairs is very warm, even adjusting the temperature. The ceiling fans are helpful. Only one house key is provided, which complicates the logistics of coming and going from the property- if there are multiple people staying (there are two bedrooms).The backyard is very well maintained and there is a grill and fire pit, which are ready to be used.The washer and drier and full kitchen are ever helpful for longer stays.The plants, fresh flowers, coffee, and cookies are thoughtful touches.We will definitely consider staying here again- as this was overall a good experience!

We enjoyed our visit to New Bern. The Heath house was just perfect for us. We appreciated the binder full of New Bern history and the well stocked home with everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.

Host went out of his way to ensure a comfortable stay. A snow storm threatened to cancel our trip & he shoveled the front walk & steps so we could get into tbe house safely & took the time to check out road conditions for us. Freshly baked cookies greeted us when we arrived. Home is well equipped, clean, and very comfortable!

Beautiful Home, Great Location

I am so fortunate to have grown up in this wonderful town that has instilled in me a love of history and sense of place. I was lucky enough to be able to restore this turn of the century home to be able to share my town with other travelers.

Heath House is cozy enough for a long weekend or large enough for an extended stay. The office, with printer, offers visitors a chance to work while enjoying all New Bern has to offer.

What makes this property unique

The neighborhood is great for a morning walk - everyone is so friendly! The large, green back yard is a peaceful retreat - perfect for enjoying all seasons or listening to birds. And the river is just steps away!
