Tree tops and bears surround this quaint, quiet cabin that feels like a serene treehouse looking out into the trees from the inside. The trees are the art of this home, constantly changing the scenery outside from lush summer, to dazzling fall, to a winter wonderland. THIS is the retro Gatlinburg chalet you remember from the past, updated to modern tastes with touches of original 1980's style done right.
A convenient location and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere are just a couple features you’ll enjoy during your Gatlinburg getaway at Alpine Serenity. This updated 2-bedroom, 2-bath cabin, nestled in the Chalet Village of Gatlinburg, is only a 2-mile drive to downtown and has room for up to 6 guests. Choose this cabin for your family’s annual vacation to Gatlinburg, a couples’ getaway in the fall, or a small group retreat with friends.
The Alpine Serenity living room features high ceilings and an impressive stone fireplace. When it’s time to rest your legs after a full day of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (which is conveniently located less than 4 miles from Alpine Serenity), relax on the couch or gather around and relax with friends and family. From there, you’ll have perfect viewing access to the big screen TV found in this space. Really feeling that retro vibe? Pour a glass of wine and fill up the jetted hot tub right in the living room to relax and soak the stress away. Want something a little more private but just as hot? Try the private upstairs sauna, perfect for two.
In late fall or winter, the wood-burning fireplace in the Alpine Serenity living room will be perfect on a cool mountain night. Any time of year, clear off the coffee table for a family board game or deck of cards. Whatever says relaxation and fun, make it happen at Alpine Serenity!
Alpine Serenity contains a nice-sized kitchen with light cabinets and a coordinating retro-pink laminate counter.. Enjoy all your major appliances inside this kitchen as well as a few Smeg retro-style countertop additions: coffee maker, toaster, and kettle
At Alpine Serenity, you’ll find sleeping accommodations for up to 6 guests, and in this cabin’s dining room, you’ll find an oversized dining table space for the whole group. This solid wood live edge table is just the place you’ll want to gather together for quiet breakfasts, laid-back lunches, or delicious dinners.
This Gatlinburg cabin also offers 2 stools at the nearby breakfast bar, providing separate seating for the kids or a cozy place to sip your coffee in the mornings. On the deck, you’ll find a bar height patio dining set that overlooks the Smoky Mountain trees. The variety of dining options allow you to enjoy your meals and each other’s company wherever you’ll be most comfortable at Alpine Serenity.
Upstairs, Alpine Serenity comes with a full-size pool table and two stand up arcade games. You’ll have hours of fun hosting family pool tournaments or showing the kids some of the classic games you grew up playing at the arcade, without the roll of quarters.
With 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, Alpine Serenity will comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests during your Gatlinburg stay. That can be a single family, a small group of friends, or even a couple's trip. Either way, you’ll have access to 2 bedrooms—one on the main level and one on the upper level—and a queen-size sleeper in the living room.
Both bedrooms offer traditional wood furnishings mixed with updated styling, king-size beds, lamps, nightstands, ceiling fans, and Smart TVs. Additional features unique to the upstairs bedroom are direct access to it's own private sitting deck and a comfy chair. The main level bedroom offers its own en-suite bathroom.
A quick 2-mile drive to Gatlinburg doesn’t mean Alpine Serenity will keep you from enjoying the serenity of the Smoky Mountain trees. When you sit on the back deck, soak in the outdoor hot tub, or eat a meal on your outdoor dining table, you’ll enjoy the calming mountain atmosphere provided by this private cabin. Other outdoor amenities include a gas grill, a wooden bench, and a wooden picnic table around the front.
Feel free to pack a picnic lunch and drive to the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but at Alpine Serenityt, this certainly isn’t your only option. You’ll have your very own private picnic locale with the shade of old-growth trees overhead. When you’re done eating, grab a football or a Frisbee and spend some time playing in the fresh mountain air. At Alpine Serenity, you’ll enjoy peaceful outdoor spaces just as much its cozy interior!

****What Guests May Not Love About This Cabin****
1. If you want everything new with no retro charm, this cabin probably isn't the place to stay for you. We wanted to combine updates while keeping character. We love the idea of feeling the 1980s heart of this cabin, complete with pink formica kitchen counters and original fridge. If you demand granite, this probably isn't your place, but if you gave it a chance we bet you'd love it :)

About the host
Hosted by Robert Johnson
We're Robert & Tara. We live in Tampa with our three kids, and have always traveled as a family as much as possible. Our family couldn't be happier to be your hosts on your own vacation. Travel, and comfort, has always been a priority to our family. We're here to make your stay the best possible and hope you join us now, and in the future.
Why they chose this property
We absolutely love Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountain area. I traveled to this area as a child with my aunt and cousin, and I remember being in downtown Gatlinburg and looking up at the houses on the mountain totally in awe. Being from Florida, and always living on land completely flat as far as the eye could see, the memory of being in the mountains of Tennessee on that trip never left me. I ventured to Gatlinburg several more times growing up, and after Tara and I married, we traveled here on a couple's trip, always staying downtown. After bringing our kids up during a longer than planned Christmas Break in 2020/2021 because of an extra week at home, we decided we wanted to have a permanent place for ourselves to enjoy. In the same year, we bought two homes near each other, one for us to use as a family home when in the area (a 4 bedroom), and one to use for friends (a 2 bedroom).
What makes this property unique
We saw this small house that was in the perfect location for us , and we fell in LOVE. We knew the house itself also needed some serious love and improvements, but we thought being inside the home felt like being in the trees, with the mountain forest all around with through the encapsulating windows. On the back deck, it's private and quiet in the trees, and feels like you are close to everything but a world away. We also loved some of the vintage charm of the cabin, and didn't want to rip everything out to make it feel like everything else that's out there. A two bedroom is a great size for most couples and families, and we wanted it to be affordable but nicer and more spacious than staying in multiple hotel rooms or a timeshare room. We also couldn't pass up the chance to have a house that didn't require the use of stairs to go in and enjoy. The driveway was very flat for the area, and by not having to climb stairs to get into the house or stay on the main level of the house (where most of the living space and master bedroom are located), a person who can't use the stairs of navigate a steep driveway could still enjoy the serenity of the mountains of Gatlinburg. This truly is a special place to enjoy.
