Tree tops and bears surround this quaint, quiet cabin that feels like a serene treehouse looking out into the trees from the inside. The trees are the art of this home, constantly changing the scenery outside from lush summer, to dazzling fall, to a winter wonderland. THIS is the retro Gatlinburg chalet you remember from the past, updated to modern tastes with touches of original 1980's style done right.
A convenient location and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere are just a couple features you’ll enjoy during your Gatlinburg getaway at Alpine Serenity. This updated 2-bedroom, 2-bath cabin, nestled in the Chalet Village of Gatlinburg, is only a 2-mile drive to downtown and has room for up to 6 guests. Choose this cabin for your family’s annual vacation to Gatlinburg, a couples’ getaway in the fall, or a small group retreat with friends.
The Alpine Serenity living room features high ceilings and an impressive stone fireplace. When it’s time to rest your legs after a full day of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (which is conveniently located less than 4 miles from Alpine Serenity), relax on the couch or gather around and relax with friends and family. From there, you’ll have perfect viewing access to the big screen TV found in this space. Really feeling that retro vibe? Pour a glass of wine and fill up the jetted hot tub right in the living room to relax and soak the stress away. Want something a little more private but just as hot? Try the private upstairs sauna, perfect for two.
In late fall or winter, the wood-burning fireplace in the Alpine Serenity living room will be perfect on a cool mountain night. Any time of year, clear off the coffee table for a family board game or deck of cards. Whatever says relaxation and fun, make it happen at Alpine Serenity!
Alpine Serenity contains a nice-sized kitchen with light cabinets and a coordinating retro-pink laminate counter.. Enjoy all your major appliances inside this kitchen as well as a few Smeg retro-style countertop additions: coffee maker, toaster, and kettle
At Alpine Serenity, you’ll find sleeping accommodations for up to 6 guests, and in this cabin’s dining room, you’ll find an oversized dining table space for the whole group. This solid wood live edge table is just the place you’ll want to gather together for quiet breakfasts, laid-back lunches, or delicious dinners.
This Gatlinburg cabin also offers 2 stools at the nearby breakfast bar, providing separate seating for the kids or a cozy place to sip your coffee in the mornings. On the deck, you’ll find a bar height patio dining set that overlooks the Smoky Mountain trees. The variety of dining options allow you to enjoy your meals and each other’s company wherever you’ll be most comfortable at Alpine Serenity.
Upstairs, Alpine Serenity comes with a full-size pool table and two stand up arcade games. You’ll have hours of fun hosting family pool tournaments or showing the kids some of the classic games you grew up playing at the arcade, without the roll of quarters.
With 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, Alpine Serenity will comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests during your Gatlinburg stay. That can be a single family, a small group of friends, or even a couple's trip. Either way, you’ll have access to 2 bedrooms—one on the main level and one on the upper level—and a queen-size sleeper in the living room.
Both bedrooms offer traditional wood furnishings mixed with updated styling, king-size beds, lamps, nightstands, ceiling fans, and Smart TVs. Additional features unique to the upstairs bedroom are direct access to it's own private sitting deck and a comfy chair. The main level bedroom offers its own en-suite bathroom.
A quick 2-mile drive to Gatlinburg doesn’t mean Alpine Serenity will keep you from enjoying the serenity of the Smoky Mountain trees. When you sit on the back deck, soak in the outdoor hot tub, or eat a meal on your outdoor dining table, you’ll enjoy the calming mountain atmosphere provided by this private cabin. Other outdoor amenities include a gas grill, a wooden bench, and a wooden picnic table around the front.
Feel free to pack a picnic lunch and drive to the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but at Alpine Serenityt, this certainly isn’t your only option. You’ll have your very own private picnic locale with the shade of old-growth trees overhead. When you’re done eating, grab a football or a Frisbee and spend some time playing in the fresh mountain air. At Alpine Serenity, you’ll enjoy peaceful outdoor spaces just as much its cozy interior!
****What Guests Will Love About This Cabin**** 1. The updated style while still keeping the classic elements which made us all fall in love with Gatlinburg cabin stays. 2. Walking directly into the front door of the cabin without stairs. A couple could stay comfortably in this cabin without ever having to go up a flight of stairs. 3. Located on a quiet, peaceful part of the mountain, feeling serene and close to downtown at the same time. 4. Looking out every window and being surrounded by treestops
****What Guests May Not Love About This Cabin**** 1. If you want everything new with no retro charm, this cabin probably isn't the place to stay for you. We wanted to combine updates while keeping character. We love the idea of feeling the 1980s heart of this cabin, complete with pink formica kitchen counters and original fridge. If you demand granite, this probably isn't your place, but if you gave it a chance we bet you'd love it :)

We really enjoyed our stay at this chalet! The decor is beautiful and it's very comfortable. The owner was very responsive and gave us lots of information on activities in Gatlinburg. Will definitely come again!

Thank you so much for the compliments, Julie! Can't wait to host you again.
Our stay went well and we would stay again. Had everything you could ask for when getting away on a vacation. The location was close to everything in Gatlinburg. Traffic was relatively light coming in and out of the neighborhood.
Cozy and convenient to town, this home provided exactly what we needed for a couple's get away. The hot tub was clean and amazing. The interior decor was beautiful. The check in/out process was probably one of the most easy of any VRBO I've experienced. Highly recommend.

Thank you! We so appreciate you choosing to stay at our cabin. We agree, it’s very cozy! We hated having long check out tasks when we rented cabins prior to owning our own. We decided to make sure our guests enjoy their vacation, and not be forced to do a chore list on the last few hours of their stay. We’d love to host you again in the future!
We stayed here for a cheer competition at the Convention Center. It was just a 10 minute drive to the town and National Park. We loved the mountain feel and quietness of the location. Sitting on the back deck was my favorite part. We didn't see any bears either :)
The property was amazing!!! Warm/cozy
Very Clean two King size beds and the first floor had its on bathroom. Pool table on the second floor along with video games for extra Entertainment.
Loved the house and our stay. Only two things I saw that needed attention. The door keypad lock battery was dying through our stay and the dryer took runs to dry a load of clothes.

Comfortable property. Liked the location, away from the hustle and bustle. Beautiful drive up the mountain but definitely not convenient but that was fine for us. Host was responsive when I contacted him.
This house/cabin was beautiful and everything was so nice , all the amenities worked perfect and Robert was EXTREMELY helpful and very tentative with any questions and replying to my messages
I will absolutely be coming back
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here!
We had an enjoyable stay. Home was as listed. Kids enjoyed the arcade games, learning to play pool, and listening to the record player! Loved the privacy but it was also a short drive to attractions/towns. Inside of house was clean but there was some trash around the outside of the house.
The cabin was clean nice and neat. The location isn’t bad at all, only a few minutes from the Gatlinburg Strip. It’s located in the mountain and the drive wasn’t too bad just a few turns and twists, which was actually fun to drive. We always came back to the cabin the same way but I swear every time we went into town we came out differently but it was fun and definitely will book again and again
Everything was great! We greatly enjoyed the property which had everything we needed. It was very comfortable and beautiful. Check in was easy and communication with the owner was easy. We even had a little black bear hanging around the whole week we were there…adorable! Reminder, please don’t feed the bears. I got the feeling our visitor bear was not afraid of people which means someone had fed him/her in the past.

We enjoyed our stay! This chalet is just right up the mountain from the main strip in Gatlinburg. It had alot of cute furniture and nice amenities. The host was so kind and super helpful. We also enjoyed the contactless check in after the long trip. The only downside we noticed was the cleanliness. Trash around the chalet outside made for not such a great view and the jacuzzi tub inside was questionably dirty but all and all not bad and would likely book again.
Absolutely amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with the amenities- hot tub & sauna were fantastic. Soooo relaxing. The area is very peaceful. Scary at times driving up the mountain and down. Daytime much better than dark! Easy communication with Robert and every thing we hoped out would be.
Thank you Robert and best regards
We loved this house. The road to get to the house has beautiful views. The location is a perfect distance from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. My husband and I enjoyed the sauna several times over our stay. The hot tub was just the right temperature and very clean. All 4 of us enjoyed the game room! There were black bears roaming around the driveway which was exciting, but make sure to keep your car locked. Everything was clean, comfortable and just as described. It was fun being surrounded by trees as if you are in a tree fort!

Thank you so much, Kristie. We love the location of this house too. It truly feels like we’re in the trees when we’re there. We look forward to hosting you again soon!
The owner was very pleasant and easily accessible. Any issues that arose, he took care of. Didn’t understand why there was a suggested tip for the cleaning lady when we were already paying for cleaning services which should only take about three hours. The house was in very good condition but I expected that it would be cleaner (could use a very good dusting) even though it was very well prepared and clean - Exactly as advertised!

Thank you! We did have some work done on the house which caused a lot of dust. We have had the cleaner do a deep clean. Thank you for letting us know!
This getaway was spontaneous and unplanned. This was my first vacation since my divorce (2014). I've had many challenges personally and medically and never thought I could be so re-energized from a simple trip. The owner of this cabin was spectacular and offered a beautiful property. Everything was perfect, the location the amenities and overall quality of the area.
I couldn't explain it any better than if you are traveling or planning a trip to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN make your reservations here! You won't regret one thing about it.
Robert, THANK YOU! I can't appreciate it anymore!
We absolutely loved our stay!! The cabin was in a perfect location, not far from a small market full of everything you need, and with a beautiful view from the balcony. We definitely recommend this cabin not just for the price, but for the ultimate vacay!
Very nice house and great location! Comfortable bedding and the house has most everything you would need to cook and enjoy your time. The host were very responsive and gave good directions and tips for our stay.

About the host
Hosted by Robert Johnson
We're Robert & Tara. We live in Tampa with our three kids, and have always traveled as a family as much as possible. Our family couldn't be happier to be your hosts on your own vacation. Travel, and comfort, has always been a priority to our family. We're here to make your stay the best possible and hope you join us now, and in the future.
Why they chose this property
We absolutely love Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountain area. I traveled to this area as a child with my aunt and cousin, and I remember being in downtown Gatlinburg and looking up at the houses on the mountain totally in awe. Being from Florida, and always living on land completely flat as far as the eye could see, the memory of being in the mountains of Tennessee on that trip never left me. I ventured to Gatlinburg several more times growing up, and after Tara and I married, we traveled here on a couple's trip, always staying downtown. After bringing our kids up during a longer than planned Christmas Break in 2020/2021 because of an extra week at home, we decided we wanted to have a permanent place for ourselves to enjoy. In the same year, we bought two homes near each other, one for us to use as a family home when in the area (a 4 bedroom), and one to use for friends (a 2 bedroom).
What makes this property unique
We saw this small house that was in the perfect location for us , and we fell in LOVE. We knew the house itself also needed some serious love and improvements, but we thought being inside the home felt like being in the trees, with the mountain forest all around with through the encapsulating windows. On the back deck, it's private and quiet in the trees, and feels like you are close to everything but a world away. We also loved some of the vintage charm of the cabin, and didn't want to rip everything out to make it feel like everything else that's out there. A two bedroom is a great size for most couples and families, and we wanted it to be affordable but nicer and more spacious than staying in multiple hotel rooms or a timeshare room. We also couldn't pass up the chance to have a house that didn't require the use of stairs to go in and enjoy. The driveway was very flat for the area, and by not having to climb stairs to get into the house or stay on the main level of the house (where most of the living space and master bedroom are located), a person who can't use the stairs of navigate a steep driveway could still enjoy the serenity of the mountains of Gatlinburg. This truly is a special place to enjoy.
