ABOUT OUR FARM: In addition to milking cows, we raise beef cows, alfalfa hay, pumpkins, and cut flowers. In 2025, we planted a micro apple orchard which will produce in 2027
You can visit our curious cows and friendly goats on a leisurely walk. The cows are located in a field a short distance behind the cottage and the goats are in a field near our red barn.
OTHER AMENITIES / NOTES: Our private fire pit is cozy year round! It features seating for four (a porch swing and 2 Adirondack chairs) and a Solo Stove fire pit. Wood and fire starting supplies are provided. (Please note, the fire pit won't be available for bonfires if a "burn ban" is ever placed on our area. Rare, but it does happen.)
Children are welcome; however, please be aware the stairs to the loft are very steep.
This crisp, clean, modern-farmhouse cottage features shiplap walls and a 16' cathedral ceiling that makes the house feel larger than its 384 sq ft main floor plus 120 sq ft loft.
The house is strategically located so you can enjoy the best sunset view on the farm!
Main floor bedroom has a queen-sized bed with a memory foam mattress and cozy bedding.
There is also a full-sized sleeper sofa in the main living area.
The loft has another couch that folds down into a bed (futon).
***We have provided a twin-size 2" memory foam mattress topper to make the loft futon more comfortable for sleeping.***
Extra bedding, pillows, towels, hand soap, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hair dryer are provided.

Thank you for the review! We're glad you enjoyed your stay!
Loved our stay at the Modern Farmhouse Cottage! It was everything we had hoped for. Shelley was very helpful when we needed guidance. A couple of suggestions for consideration: a small stand in the bathroom for toiletries and a softer mattress on the bed. We would definitely recommend this property though!

Thank you so much for the feedback and kind review! We'll take those thoughts into consideration!
We loved the tiny house! I wish we could have sat on the swing outside by the fire but it was pouring. Still loved the place. Only 1 disappointment - the welcome said there was ice cream in the freezer (we love ice cream) but there wasn't any ice cream! Def/ would stay there again.

Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry about the ice cream! We recently switched over to offering other snacks instead of ice cream. I thought I had updated the info about that everywhere but apparently I missed a spot. Thank you for the heads up. I apologize for the inconvenience.
We had an amazing stay at the cabin! The atmosphere is so cozy and it has to be the cleanest place we’ve have ever stayed at! We definitely recommend this cabin:)
Shelley and Matt were wonderful hosts. A charming and cozy place to stay. We were visiting the Ark encounter and this was close by and a great place to relax and unwind. We really enjoyed the modern farmhouse feel and all the attention to detail. Would absolutely recommend!

The peaceful sunset view, fire-pit and swing made for a wonderful evening that we all enjoyed.— the perfect spot to relax. Our hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, we enjoyed homemade cinnamon buns that were truly delicious. Their kindness and hospitality made our stay extra special.Highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a clean, charming, and peaceful getaway.
The location and the home met our needs perfectly. It was beautiful, quiet, clean, and comfortable. The host was very responsive and thorough in communications.
My boyfriend and I was impressed by how lovely everything turned out to be. Our favorite part was the quiet at night, as it has been our most relaxed stay yet. We enjoyed making a fire in the fire pit and making smores together. Seeing the farm animals was awesome. Just an overall very peaceful time, thank you!
Perfect location for what we did, Ark Encounter, Creation Museum, Churchill Downs, and Claiborne Farm. Very clean, quiet and safe location. Amenities and Accommodations were perfect. Would def stay here again and highly recommend to anyone.

About the host
Hosted by Shelley Colson
Shelley and her husband Matt have dreamed for years of owning their own rental property. It’s amazing to see it finally come to life here on our beautiful farm in Northern Kentucky. Our house name, Swiss Hills Cottage, honors the heritage of this land, home to Brown Swiss dairy cows since 1994. Matt’s parents still have a raw milk dairy operation on the farm to this day. In the fall, we also host the popular Country Pumpkins Fall Festival complete with u-pick pumpkins, hayrides, corn maze, petting zoo, and more.
