About this property
Waterfront Guntersville Getaway
Relax in your own private, waterfront home. Complete renovation and addition built in 2017. The Guntersville Getaway is nestled in a small cove on scenic Lake Guntersville, which has 949 miles of winding shoreline.
There is a lot to do without even leaving the property. Relax on the large patio of this 1900 square foot waterfront home. Watch the sunset and grill out. Watch the wildlife, which may include a Bald Eagle, Osprey or the endangered Whooping Crane. Great Blue Herons, Coots or Comerants and Turtles are frequent visitors.
Field and Stream Magazine voted Guntersville one of the top 10 fishing towns in the country. It is well known for it's Bass fishing and National tournaments, such as the Bass Masters Tournament. Guests often catch fish right off the bank or pier. The kids will love catching Bluegills, Catfish or Bream.
Fun in the Sun for Everyone: The Guntersville Getaway Waterfront home is easy to find, it is a mile from Highway 431. It is located on Buck Island Shores near Gunter's Landing, across from the Guntersville Yacht Club. It offers a fun and inviting place to bring the whole family or it can be a romantic retreat for two. Children are welcome and pets are considered. We have grown up and children's books. Create memories with your family that will last a lifetime.
The Boathouse, built in 2017 offers deep water year round. Guests have their own slip that includes boat lift, a freezer to store all the fish you catch. it also has a fish cleaning station. The slip opens up to a partially covered and partially sunny deck.
Summer and spring bring boating, swimming, fishing, skiing, or just sunning. If you have had too much sun, shop till you drop in Guntersville for antiques and bargains.
Downtown Guntersville has a nice shopping area. While you are there check out The Brick Restaurant for American Cuisine. You can eat and shop in the same building at Baker's on Main. Cafe 336 has a yummy, light lunch. The shops contain one of a kind gifts and decor to take back home. A great place to dine for lunch or dinner is The Rock House Eatery. For an upscale dining experience you may enjoy The Glover Restaurant. All of these restaurants are on HWY 431. Many of the places you want to go are on 431.
If you love a bargain, Visit Crazy Craz Boys that buy pallets of used Amazon merchandise and sell everything in bins for 7 dollars or less depending on the day of the week.
First Class Golf and Family Attractions: The Getaway is centrally located to four first class Golf Courses: Gunters Landing, Cherokee Ridge, Robert Trent Jones/Hampton Cove and Goose Pond.
Your whole family can discover Cathedral Caverns, which has the largest cave opening in a public cave in the U.S. It is only 20 minutes away. It is a treasure!
Spend a day exploring the Space and Rocket Center and Space Camp, in Huntsville, which attracts visitors from all over the world. Huntsville is about an hour away.
In the fall and winter curl up next to the fire with a good book from our collection of hard and paper backed books. Take a drive or a boat ride and treat yourselves to the explosion of fall colors.
What's new? Almost everything!!! In 2017 we added a 300 square feet master bedroom. The bathrooms were transformed into elegant, luxury bathrooms. New rock and an amazing mantlepiece are the focal point of the living room; that is if you can tear yourself away from the fabulous views of Lake Guntersville from each bedroom and living room. We have a beautiful new flagstone walkways, new landscaping, and larger driveway. We replaced the sliding glass doors in each bedroom that lead to the patio. We painted the living area paneling a light gray color, which brightened the space. We have painted the interior and much of the exterior. It was time to replace the boathouse. Now guests have their own slip with lift, chest freezer and fish cleaning station.

About the host
Hosted by Nicholas or Lyndall Hamlett

My parents, built this home in 1958. My father helped design the house with it's open living and dining area floor plan. I have kept some of the retro look by leaving some of the original fixtures, but it has also been completely updated the kitchen, laundry room, both bathrooms and added a 300 square foot master bedroom added.
I live just 3 miles away, also in Guntersville. My husband and I have lived here since 1990. He is the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Albertville. We are still keeping it in the family. My son Nicholas manages the property for me.

Why they chose this property
It is among a small number of lake houses situated on a relatively flat lot. Many of the other properties have a steep incline to walk up from the Lake to the house.
What makes this property unique
It is a jewel of lake front property, because it is not steep and keeps deep water year round. It has shady and sunny areas of this one acre property that provides privacy. It is in a cove. My favorite part about the house is the windows. In almost every room of the house you can look at the serene lake.
The retro look has been blended with modern convenience. For example there are modern granite countertops and antique dressers that have been passed down in my family.
