About this property
Lakefront Home - Dramatic views from upper and lower decks
We invite you to enjoy our beautiful mountain home for a relaxing vacation in the winter or summer in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. With wifi and cable TV you can stay in touch with the world while enjoying the seclusion of this nature lovers paradise. Our home's incredible views take your breath away every morning when you wake up and look across the sparkling water. Sit and watch nature's activity on the lake for hours on end. The islands in the lake provide a back drop for a dramatic nature show where Osprey nest and white pelicans perch. Deer, Elk and Moose are often spotted from the deck. Shadow Mountain rises up out of the water on the far shore giving this beautiful mountain lake its name, 'Shadow Mountain Lake.'
In the winter, you can snowshoe, ice skate or snowmobile on the frozen lake right out the back door. Spend hours of fun snowmobiling through town or on the 100+ miles of trails around the Grand Lake area. Grand Lake Village is the snow mobile capital of Colorado! Only 20 minutes from the Granby Ranch skiing area and 40 minutes from the world famous (and local's favorite) Winter Park and Mary Jane ski areas, this is a beautiful and quiet winter getaway.
Our home is located where the headwaters of the Colorado River enter the lake, creating an estuary-like waterfront on your doorstep. In the lake there is fishing for trout and Kokanee Salmon. This lake is connected at its other end to Grand Lake via a navigable waterway and visits to Grand Lake Village are a must, whether by boat or by automobile. This quaint mountain town has a special charm, choosing covered boardwalks rather than cement sidewalks. Fun mountain town activities like Saturday night bingo in the park, browsing curio shops, playing miniature golf or experiencing the yummy candy and ice cream stores. You can also enjoy the authentic mountain night life by taking in a play at the live theater, bowling, or drinking and dancing in the rustic saloons and many different restaurants.
Right out the door from the lower level of the house you can use our complimentary canoe and paddle on the lake around the islands for sight seeing and fishing. We really love our mountain home and we would like to share it with you. It is a place that you will never forget.

About the host

Brent and Lori are avid travelers and have been renting through VRBO for many years in places all over the world, from Hawaii to Costa Rica (the picture), Mexico to Germany and Italy and most recently Africa. We know what is important to us when we travel and we like to share that same experience with the people who rent our vacation home in Colorado.
Why they chose this property
We have been visiting this area since we were children. Lori's parents met here. We are natives of Colorado and we plan to retire in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. This vacation home is a step in that direction.
What makes this property unique
Seeing animals in the wild, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and skiing in the Rockies and visiting Rocky Mountain National Park are just the beginning of what we love here. The quiet and solitude that this area evokes are just right for recharging our batteries for our lives in town and while traveling. Sitting on the deck and watching the lake as it takes on its never ending array of reflections, contrasts and moods is pure joy.
