Great place for friends and family to hang and sit back and relax. Hosts provided supplies above and beyond and were great for communicating. We especially loved the fire on the beach.
The cottage is super cute and well appointed with everything we needed. We really enjoyed the community beach and park. Great location for extra excursions. We will be back!
This is the best place to stay in North East! Super, super clean, accommodating hosts, easy to find. They even have a nice welcome basket for you as well as coffee and snacks. Answer all questions quickly. We love it there and are looking forward to staying again in the spring. 5 stars is not enough!!!!! Decor is great too, great beds, well equip. I could go on! Thanks so much for your hospitality!
This was a very nice place extremely well stocked . Very spacious very clean super nice neighborhood and neighbor grandkids and all my family had a wonderful time
What a wonderful place to stay! The house setup was perfect for our family. We enjoyed walking down to the lake (we even got to see the Aurora borealis!), and walking around the community. The Straw Hat Sundae Shop was our favorite food find nearby. Delicious ice cream!
We loved our stay here! The house was great! We appreciated having access to beach chairs and beach towels. It was great not having to pack those things! We can't wait to come back.
We loved The Little Shovel!
It was clean, fully stocked with things you need, and an excellent location! Open space for kids to play, walking distance to beach, and close drive to many other things do. Perfect getaway!
Great cottage for a family getaway. Very clean and had everything we needed. Despite the rainy weather during our visit, we were able to find many fun activities in the area. The kayaks and beaches would be wonderful with warmer, dryer weather. Owners were very responsive and welcoming.
The Little Shovel is a great place to stay! This property has everything you could want and is beautifully decorated. There was plenty of room for our family. Our 3-year-old really enjoyed the park across the road as well as the beach just beyond. Great location for visiting wineries and fishing excursions!
What a wonderful lake house to stay in! We've stayed in a lot of placed and this was by far 1 of our favorites. The owners had a snack basket for us and cold waters in the fridge along with a fully stocked coffee bar waiting. Everything was clean and we just felt at peace here. The little walk to the lake each morning was a wonderful quiet time to reflect and just be in the moment.
This property was excellent! Extremely well stocked. Extra beach towels were included! Float toys and kayaks were available. There were even extendable roasting forks for cooking marshmallows at the firepit (wood included) at the beach.
We had an absolutely amazing time at the Little Shovel! Great location to the lake and fantastic amenities. The owners have thought of everything. We will definitely come back next summer. We will go back to Ohio and tell everyone about our great vacation!
The house was very nice and accommodating for our group (5 adults, 2 kids). You cant beat the location. A short walk to the beach everyday or a short drive to the public beach was so convenient. The only downside was if you are cooking in the kitchen you may need a bigger skillet than the ones we could find. Overall a great place.
Hosts went above expectations with welcoming information Cottage totally met our needs. 21 months to 73 years all enjoyed location near beach and park. Kayaks were big hit on Lake. A few items that are on their project list were easily avoided. Was a central location that made our visit up North doable. Great coffee bar and outside seating
Very pleased with the cleanliness of the property, I mean so clean you can wear white socks in the house. It is a renovated cottage so some things like the plaster do not match in areas from the additions. Stairs to second floor are slightly steeper than normal with low ceiling point, but even I was able to easily watch my head at 6 feet tall. I didn't see the hot tub listed in listing, but didn't see pictures of it either, so I rented assuming their wasn't one. Owners may want to put picture of hot tub or if it has been removed then adjust listing. Great neighborhood. We were here with our 4 year old Labrador and the quiet streets were great for walks. Neighborhood is quiet and I don't remember any road noise from the major road at entrance to neighborhood. Easy access to property and the area. With our dog we loved the entrance room with seating. As it rained most days we were here, we could keep dog in entrance room and get dried before letting loose into rest of house. Couch was comfy. Bed mattresses are on the stiffer side, but everyone has their own preference. Kitchen was well stocked. Owners even left a welcome basket, including two dog treats that our dog loved. Liked the coffee nook with Keurig and hot chocolates. Owners rules are simple and good referrals in their house book (where to eat, hike, etc.) Owners were very responsive, our dog suffered some cuts and scrapes while hiking and they were able to give us references for local vets. Thanks.
There were four of us who stayed from Friday to Sunday. At least two more could have been here comfortably. The cute cottage was clean, well located (near a rocky beach), and equipped with anything we might need. Our hosts were easy to contact and very accommodating. My friends repeatedly told me that they were so pleased with my choice, as was I. We would definitely come back!
Hello! We're a family of 4 including husband & wife, Eric & Rebecca, our two young sons, & our great dane pup. In 2014 we built our dream home in North East, PA & have been enjoying our life living in the serene rural wine country setting. My wife and I both work in Erie county. Rebecca is in education and Eric is a cofounder in several independent businesses. We love being outdoors as much as we can during the warmer months here & really look forward to what the future holds for our family.
Why they chose this property
Having direct lakeside access has always been a dream of ours so in 2022 we decided to take the plunge & purchase what we now affectionately call "The Little Shovel"! We have been doing many upgrades to this 100 year old cottage such as adding central AC, ceiling fans in every bedroom, new carpets & many other features. Orchard Beach has a long and interesting history for the area that we are excited to further learn about.
What makes this property unique
Whether you're visiting for some summer fun, wine country tours, Lake Erie fishing, or winter adventures, this is a truly unique place to be. We want to share with you the amazingly good vibes that being near the water & nature can bring to your family and friends.
