Lake View of Fontana Lake close to Great Smoky Mountains and Tail of the Dragon

Prepare for a relaxing retreat where neighbors are not close and quiet is part of the attraction. This house is a fantastic space for families and friends. Close to many adventure related activities including hiking, biking, boating, motorcycling, and much much more. Freshly uplifted with fresh paint, decor, and furnishing. Perfect for a relaxing stay in the mountains or a perfect location as a base for exploration.

Enjoy a game of pool in our game room or a relaxing place to read on one of our porch swings. We have a handful of family board and card games. This house has three levels of decks and surrounded by trees, you will feel like you are the only one in the forest. There are limited views of the lake.

Location is key with this house and you are close to Lake Fontana, Bryson City, the Great Smoky Mountains, the Nantahala Gorge, Cherokee, and the Tail of the Dragon.

Things to Know

*Internet is available but can be spotty during bad weather, this is rare but can happen. We hope, if this happens, this is not an inconvenience but instead a perfect opportunity to have some quality time disconnected by playing games or connecting with the people and nature around you.

The basement, game room, is not controlled by HVAC and can be cold in colder months and warm in warmer months.

The third sleeping area is in a loft area with no walls to the lower level. This room has 2 beds, a couch, and private deck with great views out the windows.

Full Kitchen: We have had no issues cooking a Thanksgiving dinner here for a family of 8.

There is only 1 smart TV in the living room and it includes Netflix and Disney+ (Smart TV also means this does not work if internet is bad, feel free to bring a USB loaded device with your personal movies)

This house has three levels and therefore a lot of stairs and a lot of deck space (Approximately 1500 sqft of deck)

Parking: The parking space is small and tricky. We have had no issues with 2 vehicles but more than that and it requires you to, most likely, back down the long drive way. There is no way to turn a trailer around and should not be attempted. If you do bring a trailer you can inquire with one of the boat docks to see rules related to launching boats and parking trailers. I have seen trailers and trucks parked at the boat dock parking and at a number of places along the road, especially near the cemetery, but this is out of our control.

Pets: We are sorry but pets are not allowed at this property, service or other. A member of our family is severely allergic to pets and we prefer to not have this complication in our life when we enjoy the property.

Pontoon rentals available at Prince Boat Dock (1/4 mile), Fontana Village Resort Marina (17 miles), Almond Boat Dock (7 miles). These book fast and should be planned in advance.

*A security camera is installed at the front entry facing the driveway. This is a Ring Camera system and is motion activated. This does not view any personal space in the house or on the deck and is for the security of the house and the guests.

Beautiful home! Loved the proximity to Smoky Mountain National Park and Bryson City / Polar Express Train. The house was laid out really well with plenty of beds and the kitchen was stocked well with cookware. We really enjoyed the hot tub and pool table downstairs. Hosts were quick to respond. Would highly recommend.

Cabin was clean and fully stocked with toiletries, pillows, blankets, etc. communication was spot on. Peaceful location. I would def stay here again! Great for families with small kids and Thor without kids. Our stay was for a trip to the polar express in Bryson. Proximity was perfect. 20-22 min to downtown. Restaurants within 15 ish min. But still secluded enough for tranquility

This cabin was exactly what I had hoped for when I booked it. My goal for our New Years Week trip was to find a home in the Smokey mountains with good views, less noise, and amenities that would make “staying home” more palatable for my 3 kids and wife. After a week stay, I can say this home was exactly that.The home allowed me plenty of space for groceries and cooking, a couple game nights with the family, the pool table (and sticks) was legit with a standard 8 ball triangle and 9 ball rack, and my personal favorite was a soak in the hot tub in the cold winter nights. Chefs kiss.This home had us in the middle of a triangle of the things to do in this area. The Nantahala Outdoor Center is 20 min south, the Fontana Lake Dam and Village is about 30 min West, and Gatlinburg is about 90 min North (the drive through the Smokey’s to Gatlinburg is the real destination). This was our first time visiting this area and we have already made plans to visit again in the summer time so we can experience Fontana Lake.The host was excellent to deal with as well. Easy communication and straight forward check-in and check-out instructions. Overall, we were very pleased with everything this location and home had to offer and we will definitely be seeking to return the next time we visit Lake Fontana / The Smokey Mountains.

We had an amazing time staying at this property. We did the train ride through the mountains, white water rafting at NOC, tried (failed lol) fishing, and we were close enough to make a day trip to Pigeon Forge. The area is beautiful and so quiet. You’re close enough to go out and have fun but secluded and quiet when you come home. Absolutely beautiful and had an amazing time. Thank you so much.

The place is wonderfully quiet, five miles from a dollar tree, which helps if you forget something at home. The cabin is great, except that we didn't have gas, or at least the fireplace didn't light up for us, and we could barely go down to the play area because it was too cold. Otherwise, we recommend the house, very nice and cozy, and we will definitely go back. We thank you for your work.

The house was amazing! The pictures didn’t do it justice at all. It was the perfect place for all of us to unwind and relax, the only place we’ve ever stayed that we felt cozy enough that we barely went out. And the lake was so lovely! 1000/10 would recommend this property to everyone!

Beautiful home with a matching view!

My family and I rented this home for our honey moon/ annual trip to Bryson City for the Polar Express. We arrived early and the property manager allowed us to go in early. There was a chicken that hangs around the property and it is the sweetest chicken I have ever met! The chicken let my 5 year old feed it! The home was spacious and cozy. The beds were nice. The home was more than we could have asked for.

This house had everything we needed and was well keep . i would change is the living room tv it was to complected to watch. Great getaway house

We have a family cabin on Fontana Lake but it's not big enough for everyone so we rented this house for overflow for a big family get together. We wish we could have stayed longer but we soaked in all the porch time we could get and enjoyed every moment. The house has everything you need, and appears just as described. It was clean and tidy and we've talked about staying again in the future. We didn't see the resident chicken some people have mentioned, but we did see some lizards and buzzards. We were sad to leave but were grateful for a quick getaway.

Rafting at NOC

Nice secluded house. We enjoyed the speakeasy downstairs and played several games of pool. Our second night was a cornhole tournament. We also enjoyed the hot tub and cooked a delicious dinner here. We had way too much space for the two of us but absolutely enjoyed our time here. We only had one truck with us and had no issues with the road or driveway. The NOC was less than 20 minutes away. Would love to come back with a couple friends! Thank you for sharing your home!

Motorcycle home base

Beautiful with lots of space to hang out. Surrounded by woods, making it feel very secluded. Only about 15 minutes away from the grocery store and right in the middle of a lot of great motorcycle rides.. After a long day of writing you get to come home and relax in the hot tub. Couldn’t ask for much more. I saw that the homeowner mentioned the Internet can be spotty and we happen to have a Starlink subscription for our Houseboat so we just brought our dish with us and set it up on the back porch that worked great..

Perfect way to get off the grid

Man, this place was secluded, just what we needed. Secluded but a short drive to Bryson City and Nantahala. Lake Fontana is beautiful. Internet at the house was spotty, so if you intend to work remote, take that into consideration. Barely any cell service in the area, either. Lots of dark territory. We 100% will come again, and explore some of the area we didn't get to. Nantahala only got 1/2 day of our time, so thats on the list. Thank you!

Great Mountain getaway spot

I would consider myself on the germaphobe side of things and this house was clean. This got the short getaway off to a great start. The kitchen was also well stocked which was a plus for my chef husband. In this house you are surrounded by trees - my husband's one request. And you had a view of the lake - it is exactly like the pictures online. This host had things you might have forgotten like soap, q-tips, make-up remover, and hair dryer. The TV had multiple different channels to choose from which was great. The location was also perfect easy drive to Cherokee, Bryson City, and the Fontana Dam which was really cool. Last but not least, the indoor corn hole was awesome! I would definitely book again!

Overall the place was great and i hpe to stay there next year.The lake can be seen from the top balcony but its a long distance away. The main living area was great. It has a very large and comfortable sofa that can fit 4 people lying down. The bedrooms were large and the mattresses were nice. The kitchen had everything needed. Having the hot tube and pool table helped on the days we got rain. Having all the maps showing all the different driving roads in the area was a great benefit. A few minor things that would make the stay evan better, 1. Replace the grill. Burners are rusted out and get a new cleaning brush.2. Add a dart board to the pool table area and a Bluetooth speaker to play music.3. Have the cleaning crew clean the area that is off the master bedroom where the corn hole game is. Walked into a few spider web's. Maybe add some furniture and other games to this room. It would make the stay evan better than it was. 4. The breaker on the hot tube tripped nightly. (Not sure if thats on purpose) but if you forgot to turn the breaker back on in the morning and start the heating process, it would take until the next day to get back to temp. You will not be disappointed saying here. Whether with a group of friends to ride the Tail and all the other amazing roads or just your family. Motorcyclists, be aware, there is a small section(few hundred feet) of the road thats not paved and at a good incline when leave the main road to enter the long driveway. Its manageable

Amazing time!

House was better in person than the photos. Even though the photos were awesome, seeing it in person, it was more than we anticipated. Especially the bonus area over the car port with the corn hole set-up. Made for some competition between family members on top of the daily evening pool games. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need and then some. Views were amazing. So many decks to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or sit outside at night and listen to nature and enjoy the evening sky. So close to everything you want to do. Tail of the Dragon, Bryson City, Cherohala Skyway and the Tsali mountain bike trails. We hit them all! The only thing I didn’t like, very minor, was the road up to the house and the driveway. Little sketchy but once you been up and down a few times and you get the “how to turn around” in the driveway, it’s wasn’t bad. We’ll definitely be back!

Andy's cabin is AMAZING!!!! Was great to answer any of my questions & quick to respond. We traveled in from several locations & all found the cabin to be easy to find! But very secluded. And I will have to say, out of all the places we've rented over the years, HANDS DOWN! this is the best equipped place I've ever seen!!!!! From the kitchen to the linens, to games & other items, literally you need nothing other than your clothes!!!! We had the best time! Relaxed & rejuvenated!

We have been married 23 years and counting with four beautiful children and share a passion for adventure and travel. We are from the west coast where it is drier and has a lot less trees but has huge vistas. We love this house because of the surrounding forest and proximity to lake and mountains.

Why they chose this property

I discovered this area in 2020 when accepting a position that brought me to the Murphy area. We searched for something special in GA and NC but once we started searching this area we fell in love. There are a lot of activities for the adventure minded person including hiking, mountain biking, river rafting, boating, scenic drives...the list goes on and on.
