About this property
Secluded Historic House Near the Santa Barbara Mission
“Fortunate indeed is the person who can live in Santa Barbara, and doubly blessed if his home is located in Mission Canyon” – Ethel Barrymore
A peaceful home, hewn from local stone by Italian masons a century ago, recently remodeled to provide a wonderful combination of Santa Barbara history with modern conveniences.
While secluded and private it is close to the mountains, beaches, downtown, restaurants, and shopping. Within walking distance is the Santa Barbara Mission, the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum, and Rocky Nook Park.
There are three bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. A lovely outdoor space offers room to relax, explore, with a dining area for meals to linger over. The house was blessed years ago by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and we like to think of it as quintessential California living at its best.
King bedroom, with marble lined en suite bathroom. Beautiful, light-filled room with a luxurious space.
Queen bedroom, with adjacent private 1920's style bathroom. This room offers lovely views into the garden.
Bunk room, with two twins and one full bed. Plenty of space for children, or a family to share. Bathroom just steps down the hall.
The kitchen and breakfast-nook overlook the outdoor dining area, which includes a BBQ grill for outdoor cooking and entertaining... or just relaxing by the fire pit.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property. Not only did we have a great host but it really felt like home. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic Santa Barbara experience and super close to the Mission and Rose Garden.

Absolutely outstanding property. Quality, cleanliness and support by the owner is right up there with staying at the El Encanto.

Dru and Jana
My friends had a great time staying at this beautiful home. Jana and Dru were excellent communicators and made the whole process seamless. The house is very well appointed and the backyard is truly magical. Also they left us a whole baskets of treats, wine, coffee etc which was so generous. I would absolutely stay here again!
Host Dru made certain that our stay was indeed truly magnificent. He reached out in advance, welcomed us upon our arrival, and made himself available for anything we might need thought our visit.
The Stonehaven property was incredible with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, expansive group areas and a beautiful yard to enjoy. Thank you!!

Thank you, Ken! It was great to meet you and your family--you were such gracious and thoughtful guests. We are glad that you had a wonderful time celebrating your daughter's graduation, and we wish you all the best!
My husband and I enjoyed everything about this property (in fact I would give my left arm for this house lol)
The property owners are absolute gems and if you need anything they are more than willing to help out with whatever questions you have or anything you need.
The house was spotless. The backyard is STUNNING and the layout worked for our event perfectly. Since it was November we rented 4 heaters from Super Party Rentals they were timely and it was a good amount of coverage that kept us and our guests comfortable.
I would highly recommend this property for couples or families looking for a good time in Santa Barbara :)
The property is perfectly located on private lane in the oaks on a hill just up from the Mission and its beautiful park (ten min walk). But is only 1.25 mile from the action on State Street. Stars at night and QUIET. Maybe an owl's hoot. Garden is spacious and well maintained; handy BBQ. 3 lovely bed rooms and bath rooms all right up to date. Brand new kitchen. . Managers are right next door. We loved it.

Thanks for the great review, John--we love the peace and quiet of this area as much as you do, and especially the feeling of privacy being tucked back in the oaks! And yes, that was an owl's hoot you heard... we have owl boxes hidden in the trees and they make great neighbors! We look forward to seeing you again!
I cannot say enough good things about Jana and Dru and their property! First off, the house and grounds are beautiful. It is actually even bigger in person. There are also two indoor dining areas and a laundry space which is really nice. But what was truly outstanding is how above and beyond Jana and Dru went with our stay. We actually used the house as the home base for getting ready for my wedding and for the rehearsal dinner. They were so accommodating and really did everything they could to make sure we had the best experience possible. I highly recommend this VRBO, and I’d definitely recommend looking into it if you are getting married at the SB Woman’s Club!
If there were a way to rate beyond "10," we would! This home was not just a place for our family of three generations to stay and gather for our daughter's graduation from UCSB, it was an integral part of the wonder and magic of a beautiful weekend celebration. There are no better hosts on VRBO than Dru and Jana. The home is historic and classically Santa Barbara - wonderfully updated while maintaining the integrity of the home's history. Dru met the first guests to arrive (the "grandparents") and shared the history of the home and other details. Since they had just arrived via the airport, it was thoughtful that our hosts provided wine, snacks and coffee for weary travelers who had not been to the store yet. The airy, open, well-appointed home with fabulous bed linens could only be surpassed by the spectacular, secluded, shaded backyard. We spent most of our time visiting outside in what felt like a private, lush oasis. The home was spotless, spacious, cozy and fresh. We will talk about our special time spent at Stonehaven for years to come.

One word can certainly describe this house...Outstanding! The house was clean and comfortable, along with being charming and quaint. We utilized the kitchen on Thanksgiving Day and absolutely loved it. We enjoyed all the interior decor and the outdoor space immensely. The backyard was incredible with the trees, plants, faux grass, tables/chairs, and fire pit! Jana & Dru went above and beyond with their communication and availability during our stay. We certainly will be back when we need a place to stay in SB!

We couldn’t have asked for better guests!
We are glad that you enjoyed your Thanksgiving gathering. It was lovely to meet you, Ron and Sandee, and to see that you treated and respected our house as if it were your own. Thanks for leaving the place immaculate, even though you should have taken a break from cleaning on your holiday! Any host would be lucky to share their home with you, and we look forward to having you return someday!
