Just a short stroll to the beach (approx.10 min. walk), Southern Comfort on the Bay, located in the historic district of Cape Charles, Virginia, offers luxury and comfort, while providing guests with the splendor and charm of a beautifully restored historic home. This home provides a perfect balance of old and new, and has all the modern conveniences of home, while preserving the charm and craftsmanship of the 1920s. Beautifully restored original heartwood pine floors and woodwork are much appreciated by our guests.

The restoration of the home provided many upgrades, including granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and beautifully tiled bathrooms. The kitchen has a state-of-the-art JenAir stove, with an indoor grill, which makes cooking fun for all. This property provides all the comforts of home that one desires while vacationing.

The game room will provide hours of fun and entertainment for children and adults alike. Games, books, and puzzles are available for all ages. Teens and adults alike will be unable to resist a foosball challenge.

Southern Comfort on the Bay is located one street over from Mason Street, where you will find restaurants and shops. Talented local artists display wonderful coastal paintings, jewelry, etc. for sale at the shops on Mason Street.

Get ready for some southern hospitality as you walk down Mason Street, as Cape Charles is known for its friendly Mayberry feel.

Don't forget to enjoy the great Cape Charles fishing pier. You just never know what you may find on your hook!

Our stay at Southern Hospitality was terrific! The location is great and the space very comfortable and clean. We especially enjoyed the bikes! Check-in was simple, and Debbie was very timely and helpful in her communications.

Beautiful home and the location was perfect. We did rent a golf cart but was an easy walk to town. Walking to beach would be longer but the owners have a wagon to help pull stuff if you need to walk it. The home is exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Enjoyed the games and foosball table also. Debbie was an excellent host!

The property was in a great location, wonderful front porch, lots of beach items, fun game room.My one issue was the size of the showers. Very small and hard to move around in. The upstairs bathroom is just a large tub. We still managed though.

Overall everything was fine. We have stayed in Cape Charles many times, but always in the off-season (winter and fall). This was our first summer stay. Check-in/out were easy, and the property is nice. My only complaint is that were ants in the kitchen that seemed to come out of the sink. As I said, this was our first summer stay, so this could be common for July in Cape Charles.

Hi David. We have treated for the ants, it appears they found their way inside from underneath the kitchen cabinet, not the actual sink. We are in the all clear now but appreciate your bringing this to our attention. Take good care.

We decided to take a last minute getaway and we feel lucky to have found this cottage available. Well appointed for our family with games and everything needed in the kitchen. We loved the front porch in the rain and strolling the town between downpours. The beds were comfy, the ac worked like a charm. Every bite we had in town including the bakery a few blocks away was delicious. We didn’t rent a golf cart since we were there only a few days and between the bikes and the walkable town, didn’t feel like we missed out. Over all a wonderful stay.

Comfortable and well kept property. This was our second time here. There were a few decorative touches we put away so the toddler wouldn’t get into trouble. The game room delighted her because there were things she could manipulate (food ball, big chess board) without harm. Overall, a great homey place to stay.

Beautiful historic home in Cape Charles, VA. We enjoyed our stay over the Memorial Day weekend even though the weather was rainy. It was great to have the game room and our family treasured the time spent together in the charming home. Debbie and her husband were responsive and welcoming, and even came to fix a bike tire they knew was flat before we even noticed it. We did get a brief bike ride in around the neighborhood despite the weather. We would definitely come back again!

Wonderful stay!

Southern Comfort on the Bay was excellent. The property was clean and well appointed. Every member of our group thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The Cape Charles Experience!

Property owners communicate very well, home is in a great location, clean and safe for children. We especially appreciated the picket fence which made evenings on the porch a little less stressful with small children. Great value and amenities.

With our busy schedules, we look forward to visits to "the shore" and have come to appreciate Southern Comfort on the Bay more than we ever imagined.

Our home is one of the nicest in Cape Charles, and we talk a lot of pride in maintaining the home to keep it clean, updated and comfortable for guests. Off street parking is on site which takes the headache out of parking!
