About this property
Old Farmhouse in Rural Setting, between Penn State and Bucknell
The 1870s farmhouse is a great place to stay if you're looking for a rural retreat in Pennsylvania. It's located in a small village surrounded by family farms, mostly Amish, so you'll be able to experience a peaceful and authentic slice of Pennsylvania Dutch life. The property is also close to several universities; Penn State, Bucknell, Lycoming, and Lock Haven, a trophy trout stream, state game lands, and a state forest, so there's plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. And the clear night sky with little light pollution makes it a great place for stargazing. Here are some of the pros and cons of the property: Pros: Rental is for the house, excluding the unfinished summer kitchen, all three bedrooms, kitchen, laundry, and living room. Rural location with Amish neighbors Close to several universities, a trophy trout stream, state game lands, state forest lands and state parks Clear night sky for stargazing Lawn with fire pit and plenty of parking Local TV stations and a disc player with movies Easy distance to the Little League World Series Events at Beaver Stadium and the Bryce Jordan Center Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair, and multiple craft shows in the Centre and Clinton County area Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, July 11-14 downtown State College Peoples Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts, July 11-14, Grange Park in Centre Hall Sentimental Journey Fly In, June 18-23 Lock Haven (Home of the Piper Cub) Little League World Series, August 14-25, Little League Complex in South Williamsport Truckers 4 Hope, September 27-29 Clinton County Fairgrounds Mill Hall Cons: No WiFi (hot spot needed for internet TV use) Only one local restaurant and a pizza and sub shop 30 minute drive to more restaurants and shops Overall, our 1870s farmhouse is a great place to stay if you're looking for a relaxing and peaceful vacation in Pennsylvania. The property has a lot to offer, and the only real downside is the lack of WiFi. However, if you're not a heavy internet user, I think you'll be able to enjoy your stay without it. Those arriving here from the east on I-80, will know you are close when you see the Pennsylvania Wilds sign, a bull elk on the keystone, along the highway. Five minutes from an Interstate 80 exit puts our middle of nowhere place in the middle of many sought out destinations.

We were only there to pass through but would love to come back when we have more time. We loved Tim and Mary; they came to greet us and had amazing Amish bread for us.
Tim and Mary provided a wonderful place for our family. They are very kind and thoughtful and the location was perfect for our needs. The valley is beautiful, no matter what time of year you visit.
Our hosts were very responsive to all my questions before we booked and were so welcoming when we arrived! The home was very comfortable and very convenient to both Lock Haven (for graduation) and Penn State (my alma mater and grad dinner). So relaxing to sit on the front or side porch to read a book between our 'events'. We would definitely come back again...maybe for a PSU football game!
Such an amazing house with a fantastic location. Beautiful scenery and so fun learning about the Amish communities nearby.
We had absolutely everything we needed for the stay. We came up for our daughter's graduation from Penn State and our family stayed for a few days.
Hosts were very kind and helped us with a few ideas of where to explore locally.
Highly recommend!
Property was exactly as listed. Tim and his wife were great. We were in town for the Penn St and Ohio St game. The property was perfect for our two day stay.
This was a clean, cozy space for our family of five to stop overnight. Tim greeted us upon arrival and got us oriented to some of the old-farmhouse idiosyncracies (mostly location of light switches). We were delighted by his and Mary’s thoughtfulness — they even provided milk, eggs and bread for the next morning. It was reassuring to know they were right next door if we needed anything, but everything in the house functioned well and we were very comfortable.
This was an amazing property. It provided exactly what we needed for the short weekend. Hosts were great. Met us when we arrived and reviewed the house with us. Home was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again when we are back in the area.
We had a great experience during our stay . The hosts, Tim & Mary, were easy to communicate with and so welcoming. The home is clean and cozy with the necessary amenities- we were all very comfortable. We stayed here after an event at Penn State, so we didn't get to spend much time on the property, however it was easy access from route 80, and located in a quiet, beautiful and scenic area. I would definitely recommend this stay for anyone looking in the area.
Tim and Mary are amazing hosts. They are very thoughtful and attentive towards their guests. This location is in a quaint community and it was wonderful to disconnect from usual life and to relax in a quiet home.
We were here for a Penn State football game and this location is wonderful and easy to access. As a guest from the Midwest, the farmhouse and hospitality was just like home!
We were in the area for our daughter's graduation from PSU, and the house fit our needs perfectly. It was an easy drive to campus, and we did not have to deal with the price gouging that all the hotels do on busy weekends there. Everything we needed was provided, and then some. If back in the area, we would definitely stay there again.
Great stop with four bicycle friends riding from northern Pa to Hancock, Md
Tim and Mary do a wonderful job. Spotless and unexpectedly but appreciated, stocked with breakfast items. Couldn’t ask for anything more and super comfortable in a beautiful area of Amish country. What a find!
Tim and Mary are awesome. Really can’t say enough about them and the property. Super clean, kitchen, fire pit, quiet. Beautiful location. I brought my wife and three boys down for a Penn State game and had an awesome trip. Cooked hot dogs on the fire pit last night of the stay. Would love to come again to see more of the area.
