Hughes Retreat Condominiums - Unit #303. DOG FRIENDLY (No Cats Allowed), Wireless Internet, Washer/Dryer/ We do take monthly rentals but only from Sept. 9 - May 11 in the Off-Season. This is a 3rd floor condo in Kill Devil Hills across the street from the beach. Public beach access is approx. 1 block south of Hughes (w/parking). Nice views of the ocean from the deck as you relax in our rocking chairs in the cool breeze. The interior is decorated in beach themes & pastels with every amenity you would need in the full kitchen. BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS AND TOWELS. The $200 "Property Fee" is actually a Security Deposit and will be refunded after your stay as long as there is no damage to the condo, you check out on time at 10:00a.m. And follow all check out procedures outlined in the contract. $100 late fee if check out is not on time and cleaner cannot enter the premises. This does not include normal wear and tear. Owner will send details later.
Two bedrooms each have a king size bed and the third bedroom has a pyramid bed (sleeps two on the bottom and one on the top plus a trundle bed pulls out from underneath). If the pyramid bed is not for you, then pull out the queen size sleep sofa in the living room and make yourself more comfortable. Each bedroom has its own TV (for streaming) and a 40" HDTV (with cable) in the living room as well as a DVD player. There is an elevator so you can go up to the 3rd floor easily. Pool (20'x30') available & 2 covered parking spaces.


Dog Friendly: We welcome Dogs!! In fact, we have a mini labradoodle! There is a non-refundable pet fee of $100 charged to renters. A pet contract will need to have a signature and acceptance within the regular contract. There are quiet streets nearby to walk your dogs as well as an open grassy area beside the condo. Please be considerate and clean up after your dog every time. Dogs are not allowed on the beaches without a leash. Also, if your dog sheds excessively, please vacuum up their hair as much as possible.

Printed here for your convenience is the Kill Devil Hills town law as it pertains to dogs:
Between May 15 and September 15 of each year, no dogs shall be permitted on the public beach between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. unless being used to aid a handicapped person. At all other times, no dogs shall be permitted on the public beaches except upon a leash and under the control of owner or handler. Please clean up after your dog.

A nice getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was extremely clean and comfortable. The owner was available if needed. We used the pool quite a bit as there were a lot of jellyfish the week we were there. The pool had many lounge chairs that were very comfortable. The location was convenient to restaurants, a grocery store and an ice cream shop.

Family Labor Day Getaway

We really enjoyed the condo. It was clean and comfortable with all the amenities that you would need. The pool was really nice to have since the surf was high for the first couple of days we were there. We would absolutely stay here again on future visits.

The listing is very accurate! Host communication was above and beyond, she's thought of everything. Our family was very happy with the spacious condo, lovely decor and sleeping arrangements. It has great balcony views and EASY access to the beach. Close to everything! Will stay again!

The condo was exactly as described and met all of our needs. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and were very responsive throughout the booking process. The property was very clean and it was a very short / easy walk to the beach. Added bonus was the number of good restaurants within walking distance of the condo. The property was very clean and smelled great when we arrived. They have provided every appliance you could need and even have games and puzzles. They also have wagons and beach toys available to use at the beach. Walking distance to the beach and very close to fishing piers, grocery stores, and restaurants. We will definitely be staying again in the future!!

Fabulous condo! Super clean & very convenient

We loved our stay here. We were in town for our daughter's wedding and needed a place that would allow us to bring our dog. I'm so happy we found this place. So convenient to a couple fantastic local restaurants and roomy enough to have a few family members over to eat when we weren't busy with wedding things. Excellent accommodations for our dogs. Everything we could possibly need in the kitchen. Just fabulous. I hope we are able to stay there again and again! Thanks Linda!

Wonderful vacation

This condo was decorated very nice, very beachy. Leather chairs with ottomans so comfortable. Balcony very nice with distant ocean view. TV's in every room. Very well equipped kitchen. Very nice and spotless. No odor of previous pets. Our dog, Chance, was so relaxed. We all loved it!

Perfect Little Spot

This little slice of beach worked wonderfully for us. We have twin 14 month olds and this worked well for us being able to keep everything childproof. They had EVERYTHING we needed and the owner was super fast in responses. Pool was a small quiet area, we were the only ones there and it was nice. The beach is a short walk which makes it hard when taking little ones but overall wasn’t too bad. This will not be our last stay here.

Finally, a CLEAN place that allows dogs. My husband and I always say, "Just because someone owns a dog, does not mean they are dirty people." When we first walked inside the condo, you would never know that this place allows dogs. Everything is also available (coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, cutting board, etc) We are looking forward to staying here again!

Great getaway for just the two of us and fur doggie 🐾

Condo was amazing plus pet friendly along with an elevator. Everything was In walking distance for us. We just needed some down time with no alarm clocks and cooking (but if you wanted to cook the kitchen is fully equipped!! ) Only thing we did was brew some coffee ☕️. Short walking distance to the beach and places to eat. The Kill Devil Grill, American Pie Drive & Creamy and Swells’a Brewing highly recommend. Short few miles drive to Tortugas Lie restaurant right down the street. Condo is a very spacious for a family highly recommend. We just needed time to our self and like accommodations of a home feel verses a hotel. Condo very clean and the owner is great to work with.

Dog friendly, very clean, and close to everything!

My family enjoyed our stay at Linda’s condo. She is a very responsive owner and we got lucky with being able to check in at 2pm (instead of 4pm) because the cleaners had finished earlier. The property was very clean and convenient to nearby attractions including the beach, restaurants, wright brothers monument, and jockey ridge. Bodie lighthouse was about a 20 minute drive and my kids loved the H2OBX water park located about 30 minutes away. The pool was refreshing after a day at the beach and never crowded. Beds were comfy and two of the rooms had king beds. Condo conveniently had 6 beach chairs and two beach carts, plus camp chairs. One suggestion would be to include an umbrella for future guests. We stayed during July 4th week so we got to see both Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head fireworks because the beach near the condo is located between both piers.

They thought of everything

Great property! The owners really made sure their renters had everything they might need. We were super thankful for the luggage cart the owners provided so we had an easier time getting our things upstairs. The entire condo is very clean and quiet. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots, and pans and appliances. There is a downstairs storage closet with lots of chairs, umbrella, boards etc… and includes a cart to lug it all to the beach. There are two beach access is within a few blocks of the condo. We found the access to the left to be closer. The owners are wonderful about communicating and answering any questions. We would definitely rent here again especially since they allow dogs.

Our condo is close to restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping. You can easily walk over to the beach across the street from our condo building. We also have an elevator, which makes it easier to get to our 3rd floor condo.
