Family-sized, quaint cabin on the edge of the US Forest

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful cabin get-a-way near Fossil Creek. Nestled at the north end of Strawberry, AZ, adjacent to the U.S. Forest, this 1/2-acre lot provides lots of space for hiking, wildlife watching, or relaxing on one of two decks. The 2 bdrm cabin includes a loft with 3 private queen beds. The mudroom also allows for stunning views in cabin comfort.

This cabin is our dream come true. We are furnishing it for our comfort as well as yours! We have tried to create a space that we are proud to rent and you’ll be proud to stay. We have enjoyed finding cabin decor treasures and even framing vintage or vintage-inspired cabin wall art. If you feel like you’re home, our hope is that you’ll become return renters and then part of our cabin legacy.

You may park up to two cars in the front of the cabin and one on the cement driveway (in front of the garage).

Please enjoy the local restaurants right here in Strawberry, such as the Pie Bar, with dozens of flavors of empanadas, served hot all day. There are many more restaurants in nearby Pine. If you love antiquing or junkin’ we have many options in Strawberry and Pine. Stop by the quaint stores along Hwy 87, in Pine.
There is a grocery store in Pine, Ponderosa Market, if you need anything or you can head down to Payson and have a few more options, including WalMart. Download the All Trails app for trail maps and information. Fossil Creek, previously closed after a large fire, is now open and is magnificent. Consult All Trails or other reputable trail maps for information.

As you can see, this cabin and community are a part of the forest. Please be careful and responsible to protect this cabin, our neighbors and the wildlife. At this time, we do not have an usable outdoor fire pit. Once we can build one that is safe for you and the forest, we will add that. In the meantime, no outdoor fires. in addition, we don’t have a valid fire permit.

We grew up in Southern California so mountains were always a backdrop for us and just an hour or so away. After moving to central Illinois for work we found ourselves really missing the mountains and the forests. A final transfer to AZ brought us back, closer to family and to the mountains. We knew it was time to make the move to purchase a cabin and start building family memories close to home. While we’d like to spend everyday at the cabin, we have a few years left until retirement. In the meantime, we are happy to share our little piece of Heaven with you.

Why they chose this property

We believe we found, after months of looking, the prefect cabin to really immerse yourself in the forest. With ponderosa pines soaring right through the front deck and large picture windows in the keeping room, you feel like you’re up in the trees. You might enjoy herds of elk or deer roaming down the road, watching the various birds, and even watch and squirrels trying to outwit the bird feeder. This cabin was cozy enough with two bedrooms and two bathrooms but we wanted to accommodate our grown daughters and their spouses so we turned the roomy loft into a bunkhouse with three built-in, super comfy queen beds. Each “bunk” has room for storage below, a little cubby and light and has access to its own outlet for overnight phone charging.
The cabin is located at the end of a small street and backs up to the national forest. You can put on your hiking boots and head into the forest for a leisurely stroll or a nice hike. You’ll see game trails and even more wildlife. Enjoy having a meal, playing board games or build a puzzle on the large dining room table with ample seating.
We fell in love with this cabin the minute we walked in and we hope you do too!

What makes this property unique

This cabin is the prefect blend of rustic and comfy. The bunkhouse allows for sleeping accommodations for the kids but still leaves space to enjoy the foosball table or a game. With its own large window, the bunkhouse has plenty of natural light. The main bathroom has a claw foot tub and plenty of rustic decor. The master bath is a blend of farmhouse and cabin, with a natural stone walk-in shower. The keeping room, right off the kitchen, is a prefect reading room and will soon be equipped as a breakfast nook. Wide open spaces and the forest just steps away will make this a favorite for you.
