About this property

Idyllic Country Retreat - easy access to charming towns and beaches

We love our quirky artists' space so much we want to share it with you! The exterior may look a little rough, but the interior is comfortable, perfect for relaxing and unwinding from city life. The yard is huge, great for a game of catch, or sitting and watching the fireflies at night. You will be amazed at the sight of the night sky without light pollution.
The house is in a super convenient location, about 15 minutes away from the charming towns of Wiscasset, Boothbay, and Damariscotta. Make sure you visit the Botanical Gardens at Boothbay, a trip both the young and old will enjoy. A trip to Maine is not complete without going to Reny's in Damariscotta and of course, Red's Eats in Wiscasset. If hiking is your thing, you are in luck, there are so many beautiful spots to go, but our very favorite is Dodge Point.

Restful, Restorative and Magical Stay

My family and I loved our time at the 'red country house' as our daughter referred to it and loved all aspects and details of the home - including the amazing art throughout (including the kitchen ware!). You can tell the home was well loved, had great energy and we felt relaxed throughout - be it the kitchen, the living room or the open yard. Location was ideal for all the places we wanted to explore around back woods and coastal areas of Maine. Highly recommended and will hope to return soon in summer or maybe winter!!!

Maine getaway

Beautiful Maine house close to a variety of places to visit. Great place to hat away from the hustle and bustle of life and work. Loved our stay.

Truly an idyllic country retreat!

We LOVED our stay...can't imagine a more peaceful place. Cozy with so much character. Wish we had planned to stay longer as two days was not enough to fully explore the area. The house felt wonderfully secluded (we fell asleep listening to owls) but was minutes from beaches and quaint, coastal towns. The house was just as described. The kitchen was fully stocked making it easy to cook at home...if only the seafood markets had been open during our visit. Plan ahead! So grateful that Carmel and her family shared their home with us!

Quaint Cottage for Maine Getaway

We had a great time at Carmel's cottage - the space was exactly what we needed. Carmel went above and beyond when we ran into some travel issues, which makes the world of a difference when you're in a pinch. Would highly recommend the property and the host!

Great place to get away!

We enjoyed our stay! The house was equipped with linens, towels, kitchen supplies and laundry machine and dryer. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. There is no air conditioning, but keeping the windows open helped we also used the fans that were provided. We enjoyed playing in the yard. Just make sure you have bug spray!
