My daughter and I arrived with our dog and there was a strong odor in the home that we assumed was cheap cleaning products since there was a small fan blowing at ground level in the living room, I assumed they were trying to dry the floors or something and kept it on to move air through the unit and we opened the doors and tried to get the smell out. My daughter insisted we leave quickly because the smell was choking her and she couldn’t breathe well. We left for about 6 hours and when we came back our dog was barely alive, panting and had thrown up multiple times, the smell was still in the air and we couldn’t take a breath without coughing. I quickly messaged the host and almost immediately a man showed up and grabbed the small “fan” that had been blowing and opened the doors explaining that it shouldn’t have been left in the unit and that the air would now improve. While I was still confused, my daughter was smart enough to snap a picture of the machine as the man was walking out with it and we learned via chat GBT that it was an ozone machine and literally could have killed our dog (or us)!! if he had been confined any longer with that thing running. The owner called pretty soon thereafter and wanted me quickly to agree to a refund of about 140, the cost of the pet fee but I was too shaken up and asked her to call me back the next day. She never called and the money was never refunded. It was otherwise a decent place to stay except for the noisy, unkept backyard.
