This charming yellow cottage is situated on Walloon Lake, offering a friendly feeling with neighbors and picturesque setting. Our favorite features? Enjoying treats and drinks on the front porch, taking a dip in the lake, and walking the “locals” path in front of the house into the village!

Upon entering this cottage, you are welcomed by plenty of daylight and an open floor plan offering a great view of the lake. The main level allows for your entire group to be a part of cooking, puzzles, and TV or couch conversations all at once. The TV area is situated off to the side to not be the focal point of your vacation – something we could all use more of. The main level offers the first bedroom and full bath as well as laundry. Taking the oak tread staircase opens up into a spacious loft area – great for kids to play games and hang out while still being involved with the main level through the open cathedral wall. The upper level offers two more bedrooms as well as a second full bathroom. While the cottage does not have air conditioning, you’ll find box fans throughout the home and screened windows that invite in refreshing lake breezes, helping keep the space cool and airy during the warmer months. There are two cottages on this property, owned by one welcoming, generational family.

Although it is "private" frontage, the shared dock is used by the owners when they are up at times but they stay to themselves and to their designated side of the dock to respect the space of guests. There is a dock space available for a boat specifically for renters, which can be launched at the boat launch 1 minute from the cottage. The famous Walloon Lake Inn or Barrel Back restaurants are a 3-8-minute walk as well as all that the Village of Walloon has to offer!

*Access to water toys and boats are not included in the rental of this property. If you would like information on watercraft rentals, please reach out to us for recommendations!

*The lower cottage & deck are off limits to guests. One (1) boat allowed on the dock. No swinging on the tree swing (belongs to the neighbors!) No fishing allowed off the dock.

It was nice enough! I didn’t think the lack of AC would’ve been an issue but it was very muggy and hot several nights. The house could have used from upgrades—largely the mattresses and linens. Not much privacy with the neighbors being so close. But overall a very cute cottage and was nice enough.

Lovely cottage at Walloon that could use some updates

My family very much enjoyed our stay, with beautiful views of the lake and sunsets. This cottage is also in a prime location within a 5 minute walking distance to the main village. However, it could use some updates and attention to cleanliness that could make the property more appealing, especially given the price point. 1) We were informed a day before we arrived that the washer and dryer did not work, however the management company provided a reimbursement which was appreciated 2) The home smelled somewhat musty, which necessitated opening up all the windows to get some air flow. Upon doing so, one could see the window sills had not been cleaned in quite some time 3) The carpets in the bedrooms had some spots and looked dated 4) It would be nice if there was a firepit out front or more accommodating chairs on the dock to enjoy, as the current bench setup is not very welcoming. Otherwise, it suited our needs for several nights, but I think we'll look at other cottages next time we stay at Walloon

Great place but if you plan on using your boat there are a few things you need to know.

Great place to rent. However if you have a boat you can only use the dock for loading and unloading. They should state this in the add. Also my son was not able to fish from the dock. We did not know this until we arrived. This should also be stated in add.

Fabulous Walloon Lake Front Home

The Yellow House was a fabulous experience for our family. We travelled from Santa Rosa Beach FL to stay at Walloon and the home was fabulous! The home has an amazing floor plan with lots of space and natural light. I am a real estate agent, so I was very impressed with the overall build quality of the home and its on a large lot with stunning lake views. There is also a great dock and the house is in the most convenient location, just steps away from the town village. The management company did a great job meeting all our needs. I highly recommend this home.

Incredible property and location

First time VRBO a new what a property to start with! Extremely clean with every amenity. Perfect North Shore location. Four houses to Walloon Village. Rent a boat, and dock on their private dock. No air conditioning, but not needed. Fan every room perfect.

Great location near the "Foot" of Walloon lake. Property has all the necessary requirements for a great week on the lake. Easy access to the water, plenty of outdoor living space, a grill, friendly neighbors, etc.. Would certainly stay here again on future visits to the lake!

Gorgeous Week, Gorgeous House!

I've been coming to Walloon for 30 years and had never stayed on this part of the lake before - this house was such a treat! The location is perfect - a few houses down from Walloon Village with a community walking path right in front along the lake. Our kids (11 and 15) frequently walked on their own into town for ice cream, play basketball or to pick something up for us at the General Store. We loved walking in the evenings and getting to know the neighbors, who were all lovely. The house itself was super clean and exactly as pictured. The front room overlooking the lake is stunning, though we spent most of our time on the porch, playing games on the lawn and down on the dock. The place was well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels, soaps/detergents - everything we needed The property manager was super responsive to the couple of questions we had as we were checking in and getting settled (responded within minutes.) The only call out for other summer renters is that there is no A/C. This is not uncommon Up North - being right on the lake this is hardly an issue as most nights are very cool, and there are big box fans for every room. We stayed in July and there was only one night we would have turned it on if we had it - but we survived, haha! :)

Beautiful home

Our family loves Walloon and this property was beautiful! The location to everything was the best, the 2 min walk to town was great for the kids! I enjoyed a beautiful walk every morning that starts in the front of the house and walks the lake line for miles! The Home itself has everything you need and very cozy! The owners were the nicest people you will ever meet! Neighbors are close but also very nice!
