About the host
Hosted by Nile
This was my grandmother's beloved lake home, and I'm honored to share it with guests the way she shared it with our family for generations. Grammy had a gift for making everyone feel welcome — whether it was through her famous recipe book, a rocking chair chat on the front porch, or a home-cooked meal after a day on the lake.
I've kept those traditions alive, adding modern comforts while preserving the heart of her home. From the moment you step onto the covered porch and see the lake glistening beyond, I hope you feel the same warmth, love, and connection to this place that I do.
Grammy's Lake House sits on Lake Pocotopaug — a stunning 512-acre freshwater lake in the heart of East Hampton, Connecticut. The house itself is over 100 years old, full of character, history, and the kind of charm that only comes with time. It is not a hotel. It is not a new build. It is a real family home, lived in and loved for generations, and that is exactly what makes it special.
I grew up spending summers here. I know every creak in the floorboards, every sunrise angle from the front porch, and exactly which rocking chair has the best view of the water. When Grammy passed, keeping this home alive and full of laughter felt like the most meaningful thing I could do to honor her. Every guest who walks through that door becomes part of that story.
As your host, I am committed to making your stay exceptional. I respond quickly, I am always close by, and I genuinely care that your time here becomes one of those trips your family talks about for years. That is not a marketing line — it is just how Grammy raised us.
Come slow down. The lake and the home are waiting.
Nile, Grammy's Grandson

Why they chose this property
Here is the updated version with Grammy's cardinals woven in naturally:
Grammy always said she picked this home because it feels like you're on vacation every day. Perched on a gentle hill overlooking Lake Pocotopaug, the house catches the breeze off the water all summer long and the sunrise every single morning without fail. I have never once gotten tired of that view — and neither have our guests.
East Hampton is one of those rare Connecticut towns that still feels like itself. Two miles from a Main Street that looks like 1955, surrounded by state parks, hiking trails, and one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes in New England. Lake Pocotopaug spans 512 acres and has been drawing families to its shores for over a century. Grammy was smart enough to plant her roots right here.
What I love most about this area is how much there is to do without ever feeling rushed. Walk down to our brand-new private dock for a swim or a canoe ride. Drive five minutes to Sears Park for beach days, tennis, pickleball, and basketball. Hike the Air Line State Park Trail through covered bridges and over historic viaducts. Eat lobster rolls at Jessica's Garden Shack, waterfront dinners at Angelico's, or homemade pasta at Rossini's. In fall, watch the maples turn brilliant orange right over the water. In winter, the lake goes quiet and the house becomes your own private sanctuary.
Grammy had a special love for cardinals. She kept bird feeders on the property her whole life and the cardinals still come — every morning, without fail, like they know this place belongs to them too. Binoculars are provided so you can watch the lake birds, the herons, the hawks, and of course Grammy's cardinals from the comfort of the front porch. It is one of those quiet little things guests mention long after they leave.
The neighborhood is peaceful, friendly, and genuinely beautiful in every season. Grammy chose well.

What makes this property unique
Grammy's Lake House is more than just a vacation rental — it is a legacy of love, laughter, and lakeside living that has been part of our family for over 50 years. There is simply nothing else like it on Lake Pocotopaug.
What makes it unique starts with the feeling. The moment you pull up that driveway and step onto the covered front porch, something shifts. The lake is right there. The rocking chairs are waiting. The cardinals are at the feeders. The world slows down. Guests tell us they feel it within minutes of arriving — that rare, deep exhale that only happens when a place genuinely feels like home.
The house sits on nearly an acre of land, elevated above the lake with sweeping views from almost every room. Three spacious bedrooms, each with a queen bed and lake views. A fully stocked kitchen built for real family meals — waffle maker, air fryer, cookbooks, the works. A massive back deck with an 8-foot picnic table, Adirondack chairs, propane grill, and a fire pit for when the stars come out. A private dock with a canoe and kayaks for exploring 512 acres of pristine Connecticut lake. A game shed stocked with cornhole, bocce, spikeball, and more. Binoculars on the porch for bird watching — Grammy kept feeders out her whole life and the cardinals still come every morning like clockwork.
But honestly? What makes Grammy's truly unique is Grammy herself. Her photo is on the wall. Her recipe book is in the kitchen. Her rocking chair is on the porch. Her spirit is in every corner of this home. You are not renting a property. You are being welcomed into a family legacy by a grandson who grew up here and wants you to love it as much as we do.
There is nowhere else on this lake — or anywhere — quite like it.
