There is nothing more relaxing than seeing the ocean out your bedroom window each morning.
Beautiful location, lots of privacy, yet close enough to everything you need.
The house was everything that we expected from the photos. The beach is quiet and beautiful. We had two grandmothers with us and they were able to navigate the path to the beach very well. The kitchen was well stocked and there were tons of towels and plenty of paper products which you don't always get with a rental. We had a wonderful stay.

Great House
Overall the house was great, we enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the big barking dog, (he only barked at night when people were trying to sleep) and the grill not having any gas so we could not bbq. I would stay here again and again.

Glad to hear you had a really nice stay. We'd love to have you back again. There is an extra propane tank(full) in the garage in case the other tank runs out in the BBQ. I mentioned that in an email but perhaps it was overlooked. I will look into the barking, as that is the first I have heard about that. Mahalo for leaving the house in great condition!
Great location on the beach for water activities. Views of the ocean from the house were incredible. Although unusual (per locals), a sea turtle came up and basked in the sun for a few hours while other turtles swam nearby. The location of the house is close to restaurants and shopping but traffic can get congested at times. We will stay here again.
We have stayed on the North Shore many times, but normally at a hotel. Wanted to try a house instead to have more freedom to come and go and not always eat out. This was a great house for a family. Great location as our son loves to surf this beach. Neighbors were so kind. Just a great week! Beverly was very helpful when needed. We will definitely be back!
We had an amazing time during our stay. The property is in the perfect location. The neighborhood is very private and the beach in front of the house is not busy at all. The house provided everything we needed during our stay. The house and surrounding property was very clean and well kept. Beverly was wonderful and gave us many suggestions of things to do and places to eat. The only negative we experienced was that the AC was only working in one bedroom. The master bedroom facing the ocean got too warm without AC. Otherwise everything was beyond satisfactory and we had a wonderful stay!
My family and I travel the globe and have stayed at some of the best properties in the world, including lovely homes through VRBO. This was by far the worst experience we've ever had. First, the host's ad was fraudulent. Homes that say "Air Conditioning" in Oahu and the north shore in particular have full air conditioning in the home. The host knowingly included Air Conditioning as one of his top amenities. And in addition said there was Air Conditioning in the bedrooms as well. But, only the bedrooms had air conditioning and the living areas were 83 degrees in the home. So hot that when in the home my family had to squeeze into the 2 bedrooms with working air conditioning. To make matters worse, the host states in his ad that “Ocean Breezes keep the house cool year round.” This was also fraudulent since as mentioned the living area was 83 degrees every day. Second, the host pulled his ad 3 days after we made our first deposit. The three months leading up to our stay the host was completely unreachable and did not answer any of the 5 messages I sent. I had to go to VRBO to get even the most basic answers. Finally, due to the heat I had to move my family out of the home in the middle of the stay so that we could get a hotel with proper air conditioning. All at an additional cost to myself. I filed a complaint with VRBO and they agreed with me and refunded half of the cost of my stay. Buyer beware with this home and host.
We had a perfect family vacation in this house. The manager, Beverly, was accommodating and available. We found everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and the location was excellent. We all loved it!
My family ( 2 adults 4 kids) loved our time in this house on the North Shore. Having the beach in Our backyard was great. No rocks in the water here was a bonus. We enjoyed daily walks on the beach and playing in the waves. We ate most of our meals in the house. The house was well equipped for preparing meals and the grill was appreciated as well. The only restaurant walking distance is Teds Bakery which we enjoyed. Our only complaint is that the weather didn’t not cooperate and it rained all day everyday except for our last day here. However on that last day we finally got to see a beautiful sunset and double rainbow. The view from the lanai in the master bedroom was fantastic! Would love to stay here again (not during rainy season).
We enjoyed our stay on the North Shore! The location was amazing! You can walk to Ted’s Bakery which is always a plus! The beach right outside the house is awesome. It was never very crowded! We did have an ongoing issue with ants. Beverly (property manager) was helpful. She brought over a natural spray for the ants. It seemed to work temporarily but they came back. We were very careful not to leave food out on the counter.
The bathrooms are in desperate need of a remodel. We were told by Beverly the owners were getting ready to under take that project. Overall we had a nice stay!
The house, neighborhood and beach are all beautiful. The house is spacious with plenty of seating and different areas to relax. The beach amenities (floaties, boogie boards, beach towels. etc.) were appreciated and much used. The proximity to Teds Bakery is a huge plus!
Recommendations for the property owner:
At the price, guests shouldn't need to supply additional toilet paper and paper towels. I've rented many homes on vacations and this was never an issue.
Back deck off of two bedrooms looks out onto what could be a beautiful garden but needs work to make it beautiful.
Amazing location with a private access path to the beach!
Me and my three best girlfriends just got back from a stay at this beautiful property. The location and private beach access just can’t be beat. Most days it felt like we had our own beach! Can’t say enough about this quiet residential neighborhood and it’s gated, super private location. House is within walking distance of Ted’s and several food trucks (Sunrise Shack, etc.) and the patio and deck were so fantastic! The views, privacy and sounds of waves crashing on the beach all day and night were well worth the price. The kitchen was fine and had all the basic appliances, pots and pans. I had read notes that appliances in some previous reviewer’s stays had issues (e.g. the oven) but everything there worked fine for us. House was also well equipped with beach chairs, towels and other items so that was really nice.
A few post-stay thoughts/advisories:
1. Property’s 4th bedroom doesn’t have A/C. Maybe I missed that in the listing but had thought it said all bedrooms had it (living spaces we knew from the listing did not). At this price point I would have expected all bedrooms to and it was not great having one person needing to sleep in a very warm and sticky room. Thankfully we weren’t in bedrooms much as we were out enjoying the decks and surroundings.
2. Electrical (outlets) in all baths and dining area wasn’t working. Wasn’t a big deal for us as we didn’t need much other than an occasional blow dryer use so we didn’t contact the owner about it during our stay. If you need it working you might confirm they’ve been fixed before you come. We advised ownership rep post stay and they were very apologetic.
3. There are no bikes as listed so make sure you’re not relying on them to explore the area.
4. Lastly, cleanliness was just barely ok. Tons of dust and cobwebs on ceiling fans and elsewhere, and cabinetry hardware was super sticky. Cabinets are in rough condition in most spots and some are empty and appear stained and dirty. We wiped a lot down of the house hardware before use. For the pricey cleaning fee we had expected a full cleaning crew to come through. Given Covid environment would have been nice to have extra cleaning and sterilization measures in place and we assumed that would be the case. Also advised owners rep post stay. They appreciated the feedback.
If you’re looking for an amazing, intimate location within easy access of the highway and other spots I definitely recommend this lovely spot!
Our family had an amazing time in this spacious house with amazing views of the ocean. We ate breakfast and dinner daily on the outside patio with the ocean view, ocean breeze and sounds of the ocean as our back drop. This house is conveniently located near the famous beaches of Waimea Bay, Three Tables, and Sharks Cove, and more importantly, the grocery store Foodland which has everything you need for your stay. I would definitely bring my family here again for a repeat visit to the North Shore!
My wife and I come to the North Shore every year, normally staying at Turtle Bay. This year we invited a few friends and wanted to rent a house on the beach. After a few weeks of looking we decided on this property due to the reviews of a swimmable beach right in front. Couldn’t be happier with the choice- this place is a gem!
The beach in front is almost completely empty so we had it all to ourselves outside of a few windsurfers getting ready to go in. Only spot for quite awhile that is all sand with no rocks or reef. Waves/current can be strong during winter but we’re non existent there. So a good spot if you have kids, inexperienced swimmers or people that just want to cool off without jamming their toe on a piece of coral. It’s also walking distance to Teds and the Sunrise Shack, which are necessary stops on the NS.
House itself was big and open. Master suite much larger than the pics even show. It’s a whole floor and has its own huge balcony and massive closet. Other rooms all a decent size and two of the downstairs rooms share a lanai. Has everything you need in the kitchen and plenty of seating. Overall was clean and had cleaning supplies to keep it that way during stay. Also had a ton of beach supplies (chairs, towels, boogie boards, etc).
Almost no negatives but just to be fair: Beach in front was fairly windy compared to ones a little further west. Worth the trade for swimming but notable. There were also a few electrical issues with lights burned out and the oven wouldn’t cook evenly. We only used for some frozen pizzas but it was finicky. Neither of those should be anywhere near enough to keep you away from this dream house. Made our vacation an unforgettable memory!
I have always wanted to rent a beach house & stay on the north shore, this was my dream come true. It was close enough to what we wanted, snorkeled right there on "our" beach.
2 negatives...Found hair on shower wall, but I have cleaned many showers before and I think it was just a oops. Every thing is not quite as pictured but close enough. Toys in garage are not new, but all things worked. Their were no bikes we really wanted those but...we walked instead! Air conditioning needs to be put in small bedroom. Loved the big room, loved the kitchen, loved the master bedroom and bath.
Everything in kitchen worked. I wish I was still there. Loved, loved it.
Everything is else is a great big wonderful. yard, shower to rinse off sand at base of stairs, beach so right there:) Turtles came up to visit alot.
I loved that there were cleaning products, brooms and a vacuum that sucked up the sand like a champ.
The location of this rental is 10/10. You have your own private lawn for activities, directly from the backyard there is a short private path that spits you out directly onto the beach. We found little reason to leave the home during our stay because we had everything we needed to curate a great day: backyard for 'at home' workouts, beach with surf, outdoor dining amenities decks with beautiful views etc. We would definitely come back and stay again.
There were some small things that I do think the owner/ rental property manager should be aware of:
1. They would benefit by scheduling a reoccurring extermination service. Since this house is surrounded by trees and plants, there are excessive bugs, most of the ones inside can be treated with services. We found cockroaches, ants, and a handful of ticks during our stay. They sent over an exterminator mid-stay and the problem was resolved.
2. This house is so big, that it would be beneficial for them to hire a cleaning crew in-between stays. It's a challenging job for one person especially with the precautions that need to be taken during covid.
3. The BBQ / Grill should have been professionally cleaned before guests came to use it.
4. There were televisions in each room; however when we arrived none of them worked. More than half way through our stay the host sent a TV service over to fix the issues. All of the issues were straight forward (missing cords etc) and could have been resolved prior to our arrival.
3. The upstairs toilet needs to be fixed. After every three flushes, a piece in the back would get disconnected and we'd have to remove the tank lid and reattach the chain to allow it to flush.
Aside from these easy adjustments, this house was perfect and was by far our favorite accommodation during our month-long stay in Hawaii! We look forward to our return trip!
The property location was perfect for our group. And the property was very nice. Beverly, the property concierge, was always available when I called her, & always very accommodating. We would love to come back & stay longer!
Home was clean and fully supplied for my families stay. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a secluded private home on the north shore. Off the beaten path of the hustle and bustle of other beaches. Easy communication with property manager. Will stay again in future
House was very accommodating ! Very private. Grocery store nearby. Most activities were a very short driving distance. A little warm mid afternoon. My ONLY complaint, if any, would be no air conditioning other than the bedrooms. Overall, 10 plus!!! We will be back!!
This Is a great house and location. I’m very familiar with Oahu but normally stay in Waikiki. We wanted something on the North Shore and weren’t disappointed at all. Two adults and 7 kids ages 11-19- we all loved this place! The manager met us when we arrived and was very responsive while we were there. We arrived at the tail end of a tropical front that wiped out the trade winds for a few days and were thankful for the air conditioners in 3 of the 4 rooms - we slept in pure comfort. The non-AC room did get very warm but our youngest boys slept in there and did fine. We spent most of our house time on the downstairs lanai. We had 9 people - and we had plenty of room to stretch out. The beach was mostly to ourselves with neighbors never encroaching near us. Right in front of this house seemed to be the absolutely best spot for swimming, free of the large rocks that hinder some neighbors from enjoying the water. Sunsets were amazing to watch each night. Sunset beach and Waimea bay are short drives away, with plenty of eating options and a grocery store. We went to sunset beach for the morning, having a blast with the boogie boards, went home to eat and relax around the house, then went back to sunset during high tide. It was North Shore living at its finest. The house also had an outdoor shower WITH HOT WATER! Thus no one minded rinsing off the sand before going into the house. The only two things to note were the master bedroom tv didn’t work and the oven didn’t work though they had recently added a toaster oven. That’s being ultra picky however, for the size of home and the amenities that came with it. We had 9 people and did just fine with cooking, and we weren’t there to watch tv anyways. The kids would walk or ride the bicycles to Ted’s Bakery about 1/4 mile away (most of that is thru the neighborhood). My wife and I like to run, and there’s a great path (mostly shaded) about three miles long that made for easy morning runs. You could also ride the bikes to Sunset beach.
This house was directly on the beach with a wonderful private path from the yard to the sand. If you think of saving money by not being directly on the beach such as this house, you should reconsider. Nothing tops an experience like this.
The property was nice but could be better.
We typically cook our meals when we stay in a condo or in this case vrbo. Oven didn't work! We went to the grocery store upon arriving and bought our groceries for the week, got up next morning to cook and oven didn't work. We were told to flip the breaker and try again with no success.
The property was nice but not elaborate. No fault of the owner, unfortunately it was REALLY hot the particular week we were there. When we booked the house, we specifically looked for houses with an air conditioner since we are accustomed to having a cold house. As presented in the vrbo information, there are air conditioners in the bedrooms ONLY but not in the kitchen/living room.
Here's my suggestions to the property manager/owner:
- Respond quicker when there is an issue; we finally received a counter top oven at 10pm on Sunday night after initial request to fix the oven on Friday morning.
- Fix the oven
- If there is something not working, check it before the next visitors arrive (owner said they had the oven maintenance performed before we arrived but obviously didn't check to make sure it was working )
- Provide more towels and wash clothes
- Provide two rolls of paper towels as a courtesy
- Clorox the showers
- Actual Owner to respond as an escalation to issues
- Fix non-working TV in bedroom
Last, I've requested a refund several times to both property manager and owner to compensate us for the non-working oven. Property manager's response was that she brought us a counter top oven to use. Owner said he would e-mail me but I still haven't received e-mail (I've waited11 days before posting a negative comment, hoping for a response). I realize North Shores is expensive but for my family, it was a HUGE expense and I expect things to be working, especially the Oven!
And, I called vrbo, thinking they may be of assistance. They can't help with non-working items and cleanliness of property. Needless to say, I won't be using vrbo in the future.
We’ve rented a lot of different homes for ski and surf getaways. This one is by far the best so far. Had an epic time!

Great location!
Overall the property was great, Beverly was very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed the private beach where we could, snorkel, swim and sit an watch the sunset every evening. This house was well equipped with all the basics. Beds were very comfortable. Only downside was the oven was not working properly and we cooked most of our meals during our stay. Otherwise this was a perfect house with a great location for our family vacation!

About the host
Hosted by Mark W.
We moved to North Shore permanently 10 years ago and it has been amazing. We met when we were both living in San Francisco Bay Area. The Bay area was too busy for us and we wanted to live in a more casual beach community with warmer weather and a warmer ocean. We moved to La Jolla California knowing that Hawaii was our ultimate dream.
After living in La Jolla for 7 years and traveling back and forth to Oahu and Kauai whenever we could, we did it! We spent 7 years visiting all the Islands and narrowed it down to North Shore Kauai and North Shore Oahu. Once we stayed at Sunset Point our decision made. This is it! The expansive and dazzling white sandy beach, the beautiful blue of the ocean there with all it has to offer, private and exclusive yet very convenient to everything, Sunset Point receives less rainfall, the amazing sea life-Whales and Albatross in winter and Dolphin, Green Sea Turtles, Monk Seals and Eva Birds year round, the amazing Sunsets and the refreshing Sea breeze that blows through that area and keeps it pleasant and fresh. Sunset Point receives less rainfall and more tradewinds than most places on the North Shore.
It is True Hawaii and our location is True Paradise. After living here we quickly beca aware of the animal welfare situation on Oahu.We founded The Oahu Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals 9 years ago and significantly helped improve animal welfare and pet friendliness on Oahu to the level it is at today. We continue this mission and are truly blessed to be in Paradise.
Why they chose this property
We found Paradise at Sunset Point. We had to find and create the perfect home which we did. Our beachfront home is strategically situated in the middle of the most beautiful and exclusive beaches on Oahu making it private and allowing us to enjoy the most expansive view. It is the place on The North Shore where you can swim safely year round even in the Winter months when surf is large. In the event of extreme surf you do need to exercise caution. The property has a beautiful and lush yard which leads to your private beach area and a separated only by tropical foliage. The property is gated offering an extra sense of privacy and security. You can walk your beach all the way from Sharks Cove to the North to Walking Horse Ranch to the South which is almost 5 miles of Oahu's most beautiful beach.
What makes this property unique
The house is 3 levels and very spacious. It offers an expansive, bright and open floor plan creating amazing indoor/outdoor living. We have an expansive oceanfront lanai which offers both sun and shade. The master suite is private and composes the entire upper floor of the home and has a large and private oceanfront lanai where you will indulge in the sounds of the surf, the beautiful weather and the awesome panoramic views out to the ocean. We want happy guests who will come back. We do our best to keep the home in good condition, provide and keep you comfortable with all the amenities and conveniences. The bottom level of the house is set up for B&B services.
