We had a wonderful stay with our daughter and grandchildren. This property is a perfect location for families. The hosts are friendly, welcoming and helpful with local recommendations.
We had a great stay for an extended weekend trip to Lake Michigan! The goats, chickens and fishing in the lake were fun downtime activities for our young kids after being at Lake Michigan during the day.
We really enjoyed our time at this property! The property and location were beautiful - very quiet yet close to plenty of activities. Bill, our host, was very easy to communicate with / friendly and gave us tips on the best places to go that only locals would know. We especially enjoyed the huge pond and walking around the spacious location. Our only regret is not booking for a longer stay! We would love to come stay here again in the near future!
Great place to stay for six of us. Plenty to do in the area.
The fishing was great. The kids loved the goats and chickens. Planning to repeat the trip.
The house was perfect for our family. The kitchen was well equipped. We appreciated all the safety gates on the stairs down the deck and to the basement area for our young children.
This property is breath taking! Just what our family needed, a quiet, beautiful place to decompress from life issues. We enjoyed this place so much, we are wanting to make this a yearly get together for our family. The farm animals were an added bonus for this animal lover.
We had a great time during our stay! The lake was perfect for fishing. Kids loved the farm animals and the adults enjoyed the backyard covered patio overlooking the lake. The host was very accommodating. Property is a short drive to downtown St Joes with plenty to do for all ages. We really enjoyed Arvesta Farms Outdoor Waterpark in South Haven. Would definitely return!
Overall, had a great stay lots for the kids to do and surrounded by beautiful nature however we were not aware that the owners were staying on property during our stay or that there was another group across from us staying around the same time other then that it was great
This unique and beautiful property was just a short and easy drive to many different beaches/towns/areas, so we were able to explore a totally different spot each day we were here. Countless meals on the deck and time spent sitting by the lake made this the ideal place to spend quality time as a family, get away from our busy schedules and recharge our batteries. Highlights of the property include the gazebo on the lake, the goats and the half-mile, paved driveway that made for a secluded property but also a comfortable drive in and handy place to walk the dog.
Very nice property. The goats were a big hit for the kids. Getting to fish right in the backyard was another huge plus for our family. Bill was a fantastic host, and extremely accommodating. My kids thoroughly enjoyed what the property had to offer including the Wi-Fi and nighttime movie watching in the living room. Key thing to note is the hunting lodge is joint connected to the house where other people may be at during your stay, and the detached barn may have people staying there as well. We would definitely stay there again.
Family bonfires capped off every night after day on beach and swimming. We enjoyed fishing on the property, each day. We went putt-putt golfing, golfed 18 holes at Paw Paw lake golf course and enjoyed our visits of multiple beaches along Lake Michigan. A lot of fun for a week stay. Make note that there was not a washer and dryer. Not a big deal, my wife and I made a morning trip out of it to do a couple loads of towels while kids slept in. We will definitely do this trip again.
The view was breath taking. It had been about 3 years since we had a chance to get together with another couple and their kids. We had a wonderful stay. The children loved fishing and having all the open space to run around, while we adults enjoyed catching up. Bill was very helpful with great beaches to go to, restaurants, and antique shops to go to. We had everything we needed and the kids kept themselves busy enough, there was very limited screen time and we didn't even have to turn on the tv for them. The goats and chickens were very enjoyable to visit and see roaming around. Definitely a hidden gem to enjoy, while being very close to Lake Michigan beaches.
Bill that owns the property is amazing! He even let me borrow a fishing rod to catch nice bass and bluegill. He also gave me and the boys a tour on his atv. Of his property and his deer hunting stands. It's a place I'll be going back to. The beaches are beautiful. Bill told us which beaches to attend. Ti avoid heavy crowd's. The day I left for home, Bill gave me a cooler full of deer meat. I will definitely go back.
The check in and out were seamless and easy. The owner checked in via text immediately and kept up on any possible needs - which there were none. There were outside animals which were wonderful and pleasant. The place was well kept and had all the amenities and privacy that we could have hoped for. I highly recommend the hunting lodge for families or groups of friends. We particularly enjoyed the communal outdoor space. At first, we were concerned about the availability of Uber’s, but it was not an issues as we did not wait more than 20 min for an Uber driver to arrive at the address. (We used Uber several times to and from lodge)
We were in town to visit with family from Arizona and Missouri, our brother still in the area, and to help our mother who is nearly 92, get packed up to head back to Missouri with my brother and sister in law. It was emotional weekend but softened by this very nice , incredibly peaceful VRBO. We were able to gather on the deck overlooking the private lake, grill (new grill we broke in), visit and spend time together we haven’t all been able to do in years.
Remember you need to bring your own toiletries.
Beautiful setting and again so peaceful. We needed this. Oh and the goats and chickens were so cute (especially the goats)!
The "Hunting Lodge" is actually just the left side of the home shown in the picture. The property owner lives in the main portion of the attached house, which was a surprise for us. There was also a party hosted at the pavilion near the lake during our stay, so we went out to site see during that time. There is a second onsite VRBO in the detached barn. No one had reserved it while we were there, so it was nice not having to share the dock and trail around the pond (other than during the party).
Beyond that, the property manager was great and pointed us to nearby beaches, restaurants, and fishing sites. The pond in the back was great; the kids enjoyed fishing and caught many small (9-12 inch) bass.
Kids also loved feeding the goats and chickens that are on the property.
