The house had everything we needed. Located close to easy highway access. Pool was already winterized but it looked like it would be fun in warm weather.
It was an older home, but offered plenty of comfortable space, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and pool. We liked that the home was near restaurants, shopping and attractions.
I was visiting Grand Rapids for the night and this place was perfect. I have no complaints at all! If I ever need to stay the night in Grand Rapids, I’m going to request another booking at this location. I highly recommend staying here!
Grand Rapids was a central meeting place for girls from Chicago, Indiana, and Ohio and we loved our stay at this house. The pool was a great space to hang out around and the home suited our needs perfectly. The hosts were very responsive and helpful, we highly recommend staying here!
Property was clean and comfortable. Outdoor pool and foosball table was a hit with everyone. Rooms were nicely set up and felt very homey. Upstairs was warm (I don’t think there was any air conditioning) but it worked out for us because we only used it for sleeping. Fans available in the rooms and open windows during the night cool it to a comfy temperature.
We were happy with our stay!
We were a group of friends from Florida and met in Michigan to see the tulips. The house was a good size for 7 adults. The kitchen had plenty of room for us and well equipped. The bathrooms were large. The outdoor area with the firepit, was great on cool evenings!
In town for a family wedding. House was just fine, old and not in a great area, about 10 min south of downtown without traffic. Host doesn’t provide check in information until 5 min prior to check in time. Only allows early check in with additional fee. Clearly monitors your activity through cameras as he messaged us for being over capacity when we were having a respectful day time 3 year old birthday celebration for 2hrs outside. He did not however disclose that cameras were present in his listing. Would not rent again

Yes I do sometimes charge a small fee for early and late checkouts. They requested 3 hours early which was a little excessive. I also do have cameras and vrbo does not make you disclose this so its not mentioned. They are mainly there for insurance and liability purposes and are not monitored. This guest did break my no party rule and had 30 people at my home on a 4 person reservation! So I politely asked that the 25 extra guests not stay into the evening hours in fear of it turning into a bigger party that evening. He also had the incorrect number of guests on the reservation and was told he would update it to the correct number of guests and never did. I feel that the bad review was left more out of retaliation than anything else......
Met family members who came from outstate locations for a long golf weekend. Place was nicely appointed, clean, and accommodating. Even the little things are thoughtfully provided. Love the design theme and furnishings. Host was immediately responsive to emails when needed. Grateful for the opportunity to experience the place. Wish the weather had cooperated a bit more.
We were in Grand Rapids for a quick trip. Our primary objectives were to see friends in the area, visit the Gardens, and to get some down time which included a pool. The house was nicely furnished, had very comfortable beds, contained all the essentials needed for a stay, and was very clean. The best feature for us and for a summer stay was the pool. We spent hours swimming and jumping off the diving board and having dinner on the pool deck. My kid loved it and so did I. The pool was a great size and well cared for. The only downside was the neighborhood. There wasn’t much nearby and it’s in an older part of town. But, downtown was only a 10-ish minute drive via the highway and most everything else in the area of interest would be under 30. It was a fun stay!
This property was a little confusing to the senses. The pool is what made it worth it. The pool was well maintained and a great size for our group of 5 (could easily have accommodated more.) The kids had a blast with the diving board. The beds were comfortable with nice linens and the bedrooms had nice aesthetic touches. It was located in a decent area and a quick drive to downtown GR. Having said that, the property had a very strong odor - maybe had been smoked in in the remote past? Kind of smelled like a cheap old motel. Had to wash everything we took into the house to get rid of the smell after we got home. There was a hole in the kitchen floor covered with a mat (presumably from the floor getting wet from people coming in and out from the pool.) One of the sofa cushions must’ve been covered in plastic underneath the upholstery as it was super crinkly and made loud annoying sounds to sit on. The knob on the main shower fell off repeatedly. If you want to pay the money (and it’s not cheap) understand you’re paying it for the pool, not a lovely house to stay in as well.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Not exactly....
There is a lot to like about this property but things were simply just not up to par for the amount of money we paid for this rental. The fire pit did not work, there was a huge black bullseye dot in the middle of the tv screen and the AC did not make it upstairs. It took us until the second day but upon further inspection there is a huge hole in the floor leading from kitchen to deck, instead of repair it was covered, not nailed just covered with a piece of flooring and a rug! The pool is NOT heated (this wasn't totally clear online), there were no life preservers or even mention of pool safety in any of the instructions and pool deck all need work and cleaning. This rental was a lot of money, and really the house has a lot of potential but it's not up to par.
SEVERE bedbug infestation in multiple rooms and poor communication/resolution
This property has a bedbug infestation. We were awoken on the first night with multiple bites almost as soon as we lay down in the downstairs bed. When we turned on the lights there were bedbugs crawling across the pillow. Most of them were under the mattress and in the headboard crevices. There were eggs juveniles and adults. The 3 upstairs bedrooms also have bed bugs and everyone was bitten. We contacted the owner but he didn’t respond for 24 hours. We moved out immediately the next morning and went to the laundromat to wash all our clothes. We were in town for a wedding from out of state so it was incredibly inconvenient and difficult to find new lodging for 9 people and wash everything and wiped the suitcases with alcohol which we learned online how to do. We were afraid to re-enter later that morning to pick up the food we had left. We have contacted Vrbo and after 2 lengthy call where they were unsympathetic we got a case number but no response or resolution. We had to relocate to the Prince Conference center for the remaining nights we were supposed to be at this property. We disclosed to the conference center that we were fleeing bed begs but had cleaned everything as well as well could. We had to do all this instead of being part of the wedding celebrations. I wish there was a place to upload our photos and video. We left live bedbugs and eggs we had caught in a covered plastic container so the owner could see them.

SCAM ALERT!!!!!
I feel as though I was taken advantage of as a wonderful host with a great property. So I was freaking out thinking I had a big problem on my hands and was expecting to find an infestation of bed bugs. After a lengthy thorough search of all the bedrooms, mattresses and beds me nore my cleaners found a single bed bug or eggs! Not even one! Gusts said they had videos and pictures but never shared any of them with me. They still stayed one night for free of course because I gave them a full refund. Multiple lies like saying the 3 bedrooms upstairs when there is only 2 and missing a whole wedding because they spent the entire day at a laundromat.......
So sad that we hosts are Subject to these scams and are at the mercy of these guests/scam artists.
