We had a wonderful stay at Anna and Matt’s place! The hosts were very responsive and quick to answer any questions, which made everything so easy. The home looks exactly like the photos—super cute, cozy, and comfortable with a great homey feel. It’s in a nice location, close to restaurants and about a 25-minute drive to larger cities. We rented the place for an ATV weekend and loved that the rental area was just 30 minutes away. We had such a fun time and would definitely stay here again next summer. Highly recommend—great place and great hosts!
Everything was great! Very clean, plenty of amenities, cozy interior, quiet location. The only surprise was that we thought, based on photos and description, that it was a standalone place, but when we got there, there was another property right next to it. Fortunately we had very quiet neighbors! But we were hoping for a more private location.
We were in the area for family weddings. The Red House was perfect for my family. Sweet place with lots of information about the area and fun little activities available. We loved the things to do in the Keweenaw card deck and the many books with local lore. Would love to stay here again.
This is a very neat & clean home to stay in. It's easy to get to and down the road from a delicious breakfast/lunch restaurant in Tapiola. The Bosio Biscuit Company. Our hosts were wonderful and very accommodating.
We are hoping to stay later in the fall .
We had a wonderful time staying at the red house. Everything was new and clean. We had deer outside our window every morning. It was 15 minutes from Tech and we did not have to deal with the graduation traffic.
This house is very cute and comfortable and was perfect for our stay! And I CAN NOT say enough about how clean it was! It was amazing! And the grandkids enjoyed seeing deer and baby bunnies in the yard every day
This location of the Red House was excellent for us! It is in a quiet country setting in the middle of the Keweenaw and staying here gave us access to all parts of the Keweenaw Peninsula. We found several places for rockhounding, plus Brockway Mountain gave us a great display with fall color. Our hosts Anna and Matt were very knowledgeable and helpful as they are 4th generation living on this property. Next time we will stay longer!
My family and I enjoyed our stay very much. The location was perfect for the serenity we were looking for. The activities inside/outside gave each one of my kids' multiple options for the diverse age gap. It was a unanimous decision that this was a dream house - the layout, the design/decor, and all the small touches! The hosts were readily available if needed. Overall, one of my best stays thru VRBO and one of my favorites of all time. Thank you for the beautiful house! We all greatly appreciated the hospitality!
My family stayed here during a vacation to the Western UP. A great central location to the Porcupines, Copper Harbor, and Canyon Falls. The property was clean and beautiful and the host was responsive. The only criticism would be that the Wifi was basically non-existent in the mornings and afternoon, but strong in the evenings. I realize that's outside the host's control, but something to consider.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Super cute place in the country! Nice and clean with all the necessities. There are however no doors on the bedrooms. The 2nd bedroom upstairs requires you to walk through the first bedroom to get to. It worked okay for us but if staying with others, would not be ideal. Furnace is dated and noisy. There appeared to be a heating unit of some kind in the kitchen that we didn’t try which may help heat the home? If going in the winter, I would inquire about heating as we would not have been able to sleep in the main floor bedroom with the current furnace. We had mice that accessed the garage to the first floor bedroom wall. No mice were able to access the interior but we heard them in the night. The game room area in the garage was nice to have for teens and the country setting was great too. There is another house in close proximity to the red house which is not shown in the listing. Overall, a nice clean place to stay.
Super clean, great communication with the hosts
Kitchen supplies outstanding!
Supplies overall were beyond most places we have been at.
Super cozy living area.
It was great to have the game/ exercise area in the garage with different games available.
Bedrooms: the downstairs BR has a curtain, no privacy really, and is right next to the living room.
Upstairs BR is a loft and also no door; just separated by the elevation.
This place has great potential, and again: the hosts are wonderful.
Would absolutely recommend if privacy is not an issue
Anna and Matt were great hosts and super responsive to any questions or concerns we had. The Red House worked great for our family. It is one of the best rentals we have stayed in, considering all the amenities. We were gathering with my husband's family over the 4th of July holiday and we have outgrown my sister-in-law's cottage on Otter Lake (just a mile down the road from this rental) and needed some extra sleeping accomodations. This was a super convenient location for us. It worked great for my husband and I and our 5 adult children. We had some minor issues with the wifi but Matt was super responsive in trying to help us as we had 2 of our kids trying to work remote during our stay. This was a quiet space for that. We will definitely consider staying here again for our next trip to Otter Lake.
