The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas when we arrived, which was a nice surprise! The house was perfect for our trip. The views are incredible!
The property was perfect, views were amazing, super clean, firewood available and so peaceful. I would recommend bringing drinking water, the water has a very strong odor and taste.
The stay was awesome. Very very clean, amenities are great. However, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend families with very small children (we had a 1 1/2 year old with us). Although there were plenty of baby gates to use, it isn’t the most baby friendly.
Honestly had a wonderful stay at Big Sky Lodge. Everything was just as noted in listing and Watershed Properties was easy to deal with. Owners could do MINOR updating of shower heads, toilets and carpet downstairs to keep property 4⭐️; but beds comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Had a wonderful visit and the view is spectacular!

Thank you Kristen for your review. Big Sky is absolutely beautiful and we are so happy you had a wonderful visit. The items you brought up are a work in progress so the next time you stay you will see some updates. Have a great day and thanks again for sharing.
The cabin was great for a bigger group (we had 9 people with us) and the view was amazing- my only complaint is that they don't provide any towels for the 10 people they state it can hold and we didn't see any covers either- thankfully we had brought some. also, make sure you do have a 4x4 car ( as described on the descriptions) since the ride up the mountain is super steep- other than that, everything was as described, and we enjoyed our stay.
Listing was super accurate. Road up to top of mountain a little challenging so be comfortable with very steep switchback driveway. We have a GMC 4-wheel drive and on the last switchback before driveway we had to back up and reposition both coming and going to make the turn. Otherwise, the property is excellent, we enjoyed smores, the hot tub, the very nicely stocked kitchen where we prepared excellent meals, and the indescribable view as much as possible. All in all, an excellent location and property we will definitely visit again!
The road leading to the cabin is washed out in 2 of the sharpest turns. The cabin looks nice in the front but needs a lot of repairs.. The fence in the front was leaning and not safe. The fence around back at the fireplace has fallen down and around the parameter of the steep slope of the woods the fence rotted so be careful if you have smaller kids. The stairs on the side by the hot tub were wobbly. The hot tub has a brown ring around it and the water was dirty. Some of the foundation beams of the deck were rotted and there was a strap holding them together. Some have been replaced. The screens were falling out of the windows and the window trim was hanging from the windows. There was trash and beer cans outside from the previous ppl. The inside ceiling fan didn’t work in the main living room. The dryer door was hard to close and the washer smells like mildew. The shower upstairs had a lot of hard water stains. The dart board didn’t work downstairs and we could not figure out how to work the tv. The handwritten instructions were not helpful and a lot of it had been scratched out. We had to watch the tiny tv upstairs. The inside could use some updating and a good dusting but overall was very clean. The kitchen was nice and had everything needed to cook. There were plenty of towels and pillows. The view was beautiful and it was peaceful. It wasn’t a terrible stay but I expected more for the price. If repairs are made I would return for another visit.
My husband and his friends spent a long weekend here in September. They ended up spending more time out exploring than at the house, but it was a great “home base” for them and offered great views and comfortable accomodations for their group of five. Communication with the property manager was easy and helpful.
The cabin overall is really nice! Worth spending your money here. The only thing I didn’t like was driving the long and bumpy mountain to the cabin. Overall cleaning was good just need to clean the fan ceilings.
Very relaxing weekend. I think the dogs enjoyed it the most!! 1000 games of pool and fire pit fun. Used the hot tub a couple times, the well water definitely has some minerals my city kids are not used to giving rise to some coloration and odors… all good but took some getting used to. Above-average log cabin style home with all the trappings in a very isolated location. Kitchen decently stocked, as is typical with rentals struggled with the cheap knives and finding things like the right sized pots and dishes. Probably not the best choice if you are wanting to pop into a cute mountain town for dinner as you really are away from it all. Better in my opinion for bringing in your own food and enjoying each other’s company and staying put. We did go to Tsali trail system for hiking. GSMNP doesn’t allow dogs which limited our hiking choices, but this did the trick (horses and bikes allowed too). Views and stars galore. Enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful views and a wonderful cabin. We were so comfortable! 2 kids and 5 adults and a perfect getaway. Great cabin to relax for a weekend. Nothing beats having coffee sitting on a rocker and looking at this view.
Our family of 6 with all adult children had a blast for my husband's 60th birthday. The hot tub, pool table, fully equipped kitchen, wrap around porch, and fire pit were wonderful!!!
We had 2 families head up for a long weekend. House was perfect for kid fun downstairs and adult relaxation upstairs. Awesome view and sunsets

BEWARE: property operated by self-interested and anti-consumer management agency
Who we are: I am a cancer doctor, and stayed at the Big Sky Lodge with my cousin, who is a US Military officer. We know what it means to be of service to others.
Potential renters: The cabin and its location are beautiful. The cabin is located at the top of a hill, with very steep and incompletely paved roads. We recently stayed at the cabin for the weekend, but unfortunately Winter Storm Diego decided crash our party. After monitoring the weather closely and speaking to locals, we realized that it would be unsafe for our families (with 4 children ages 7 and under!) to stay at the cabin for the second night of our reservation. We spoke with Ms. Linda, who is a manager at Watershed Cabins, who basically said that the forecast had changed (not true), and that there may not even be any snow in the area, and there's no reason for us to leave early--thus, we would not be able to get a credit for our second night for a future trip (we weren't even requesting a refund!). A couple hours later, the Emergency Notification Service in Swain County called the cabin and said that the storm was likely to leave treacherous conditions (snow, freezing rain, etc) with a high possibility of power outages. When I called Ms. Linda @ Watershed Cabins, she again did not see a reason why our families (with 4 young children!) needed to evacuate early and refused to consider a credit for our second night stay (did I mention the road leading to the cabin is very steep?!). Anyway, we left because it was the only logical and safe thing to do--and the area got hit with ~12 inches of snow that night...thank goodness we did not heed her advice. Lesson? PLEASE CONSIDER the horrible management team before choosing this property-->you never know when you may need something.
To the Owner of this property: PLEASE change your management company. In this modern era, I think Ms. Linda and the Watershed Cabins management team is a LIABILITY for you--they are giving completely unsafe and self-interested advice. I predict that the negligence that Ms. Linda demonstrated may result in legal jeopardy at some point, unless the approach changes drastically. I will never be staying at this property again--never in my many years of VRBO rentals have I encountered a similar situation.
To Ms. Linda: I hope one day you will see that morality still applies when you are dealing with a client...I'm very sorry that you could not be of any help to us in a possibly dangerous situation.
