Great place to stay. Hosts were very friendly and the animals were cool to interact with. Lots of things to do here (animals, fishing, fire pit, pond...) and we were a little sad it was just a stopover for us.
I loved the setting, the animals, and the cozy apartment. The hosts were so welcoming and generous with their time and property. The pond and surrounding wooded areas were lovely, cool and so calming (it was hot while we were in Virginia). I slept on the futon and found it plenty comfortable; I plan to return for a solo trip in the fall. This part of VA is very rural with many farms, reminding me of my childhood in rural PA. You’re a bit over an hour from Monticello and UVA, close to Skyline Drive, and minutes from the JMU campus and town of Harrisonburg.
Unique and wonderful experience, especially if you love animals! We picked this location because we wanted to enjoy the experience of being around farm animals and this place is loaded with all types of friendly animals. Valerie, the owner, is so warm and friendly, and truly loves her home and her animals — most of which are rescued and nurtured back to good health. You are free to roam in all the animal pens and touch the animals that clearly love human interaction. The place is lovely, well maintained and very clean. I can’t say enough good things about this lovely place.
We had a lovely stay at the farm! The apartment was so warm and cozy (on some cold winter days!) and we loved seeing all the farm animals! Such a peaceful but convenient location, with just a quick drive to JMU and local cave tours. We'd love to come back again!
Kitchen fully equipped. Host constantly in contact to help. Book available for local activities. Remember that this is a farm. You will have a full farm experience. Enjoy it.
The hosts are very welcoming, quick to respond, and made our stay so relaxing! The animals were so sweet and friendly (tip: bring apples and carrots to win them over). The apartment was adorably decorated and very comfortable. We were able to easily cook breakfast on the kitchenette and would highly recommend this getaway!
We grew up in the Shenandoah Valley, making this our home. Valerie is a retired teacher from Rockingham County, Brad continues to work in finance at a law firm in Washington DC. We raised 3 children and we are currently enjoying our grandchildren. Sports is a common passion of ours.
Why they chose this property
As lifelong residents of the Shenandoah Valley, we are living our dream of residing in the Valley and sharing our home with our beloved 4 legged friends (horses, dogs, alpacas, pigs, goats) and two legged ones (chickens and ducks)
