Truly a beachgoer, fisherman, boater and sportsman haven. Everything nearby to enjoy during your vacation!1 bedroom cottage w/ queen; sunroom w/ trundle daybed (2 twins, recommended for children); detached guest bunk room, full size bed with electricity and AC window unit (high season use only - no heat or water). Fully equipped, eat-in kitchen, washer & dryer, heat, AC units & ceiling fans. Bathroom with shower, toilet & sink. In addition, large deck with propane grill overlooks oversized lot in quaint community of Snug Harbor. Outdoor enclosed hot water shower, lawn games, beach chairs & umbrellas, boogie boards & fire pit. Walking distance to marina, yacht club, marina food & fishing shop and grill, neighborhood food and fresh fish market, right-of-way boat launch, deep-sea fishing charter boats; tennis courts & ball field. 1.5-mile car ride or 1.33 mile walk or easy bike ride to East Matunuck State Beach. Also nearby are Narragansett, Charlestown and Westerly beaches and renowned restaurants, clamming beach, saltwater marshland as well as historic Wakefield, Theatre-By-the-Sea, Narragansett, Block Island Ferry, Newport, Adventure Land, deep-sea fishing charters, kayak and bicycle rental, Ninigret Park, Watch Hill, Misquamicut Beach and paved bike paths. Connecticut casinos and Mystic attractions 45 minutes away. Numerous and a variety of restaurants are nearby including the renowned Matunuck Oyster Bar (tent opening soon) that is within walking distance. It is highly recommended that a reservation at M.O.B. be made 3 weeks in advance. The cottage is clean, updated and well maintained with coastal decor. Pillows, bed cover, bathmats and blankets are provided. Renter must bring own towels, bed sheets & pillowcases. Inquire about linen & towel rental by contacting Vacation House Linen & Towel Rental @(401) 368-8830. Basic cleaning products are supplied. Renters responsible for supplying own laundry cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products & firewood. Propane is provided by owner for the grill. Rental season opens May 17. Check-in time is 3:00 pm; departure time is 11:00 am. Academic-year rentals, limited to 2 tenants considered; contact owner for rates.
Snug Harbor is a small seaside community making it an ideal community for walking, biking, meeting new friends and getting to know life along the shore.

Return outdoor and beach equipment back to shed

This cottage was just perfect for my children and I! So cute, clean and cozy! Had a wonderful beach feel to it and was so close to all the beaches. The backyard and yard games were great as well as the deck and patio table for morning coffee and dinner. The he house had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. The outdoor shower was perfect for after the beach and my older son loved his own space in the detached room. I’d definitely stay here again!

Thank you for your review. I am happy to hear that your stay did you well. I just wish you had contacted the cottage keeper about the soiled bedding. Or you had washed them yourself. The stains on the bed cover and mattress pad could not be removed after 2 washings and new bedding had to be purchased immediately for the incoming guests.

Just a summer delight

Absolutely loved our stay here! The cottage is so summery and homey. We felt comfortable right away! It made our stay so much more enjoyable! I have always loved this area of RI, but finding the perfect summer place makes it so much better.

Snug Harbor cottage

We had a wonderful stay in Snug Harbor at Barbara's cottage. Our family (me and my husband and our 5 and 13 year old sons) and found the cottage was perfect for our needs. Easy access to the beach and nearby Matunuck neighborhood and we enjoyed outings to Newport and Narragansett. Barbara was easy to communicate with!

Sweet cottage with no frills

The cottage was pleasant but we were surprised and not prepared to find no towels, no sheets, pillowcases, bath soap, shampoo or conditioner. The beds were comfortable, the cottage nicely decorated and the location was really nice. Breakfast down at the marina was delicious and gave you a slice of the local life. Very nice!

Hello Sage, Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear you were not prepared for your brief stay. As far as linens and toiletries are concerned, the agreement you signed states that renters are to supply their own linens, towels, paper products and personal hygiene items. The only items owners supply are pillows, pillow covers, blankets, mattress pads, and bathroom shower mat. I understand that packing all the above items can be difficult. The cottage description on the website suggests that you rent linens through a third party company that is local and very reliable. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the Snug Harbor community!

Owners and sisters, Barbara and Katherine spent their childhood in Albany, NY. Barbara now lives Amherst, NH ; Katherine lives in Davidsonville, MD. Although the cottage has been in the family since the late 1960’s, they took sole ownership 16 years ago.

Why they chose this property

The cottage was purchased by our father in the mid 1960's. Originally a small fishing bungalow, it has been refurbished, updated and additions built to accomodate current and future generations of our family. Family members enjoy spending time here when it is not rented especially the July 4th week.

What makes this property unique

The cottage sits on .33 acres which is a rare find in coastal communities of RI. Snug Harbor is a small community of both seasonal and year round homes. Recent land development has seen a boom in large stately homes without compromising the feel of a quaint small community frequented by those who love to antique, boat, fish, swim, soak in the sun and take in the sounds of the beach . Many well known seaside restaurants abound in the area for feasting on fresh local seafood.
