Private paradise organic farm stay with ocean view, nestled in banana grove
This breezy plantation-style home offers beautiful views of our bustling organic farm and the Kona coastline beyond. Tucked way among banana and mango trees, this private custom 2 bedroom/2 bath home boasts comfortable Cal King beds, fresh linens, vibrant plants, vintage island furnishings, a well-appointed kitchen, and welcoming outdoor living spaces. You can sample our organic farm produce in a welcome basket, as well as at nearby stores and restaurants a short walk away in Kealakekua village.
The space This contemporary home built in Hawaii's traditional plantation style provides a central base to explore the dynamic Island of Hawaiʻi. Tucked away on a secluded corner of our family's vibrant 5-acre organic produce and coffee farm, guests enjoy a peaceful private farm stay just minutes away from Kealakekua village.
The sunny plant-filled open living area has bamboo flooring, modern rugs, and large windows that look out on banana forest, farm scape, and sweeping ocean views. Bright and well equipped kitchen and dining areas flow seamlessly with the peaceful living room and lounging area on the front lanai. The kitchen adjoins an outdoor living area with secluded yard and grilling area, surrounded by rustic tropical gardens.
Bedroom 1 has a large walk-in closet and attached full bath, and bedroom 2 includes a modern work space, ample closet area, and adjacent full bath. Both bedrooms have comfortable California king beds, fresh linens, and large windows looking out on lush tropical private exterior spaces.
To accommodate additional guests, the living room can be set up with a queen sofa bed, or arrangements can be made for a portable crib or two folding single futons.
Far from the sounds of traffic and commerce, guests are greeted in the morning by birdsong, wild chickens, and the stirrings of farm life. Sunset is heralded by the sound of birds returning to our nearby bamboo grove, and evenings often include a steady jungle chorus of chirping coqui frogs.
Guest access Private off-street parking adjacent to the house accommodates up to 3 vehicles. Local shops and grocery store, restaurants, bars and other services are less than a mile away. The house is a half a mile from Kona’s main highway and is accessed by a paved one-lane private road that requires polite and careful driving, The road and our short dirt/gravel driveway do not require AWD/4WD but we recommend avoiding rental vehicles with very low clearance.
Other things to note This peaceful restorative space lends itself well to contemplative practices, and yoga mats props are provided for your use. The quiet neighborhood of small farms also lends itself to hill walking and exploring.
Nearby beaches offer stunning views and spectacular snorkeling. The house is well stocked with beach gear (towels, beach umbrella, beach blanket, chairs, cooler…). For ocean adventurers, body boards and snorkel gear are available as well.

We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend for anyone looking for peaceful accomodations in a natural Hawaiian setting. The home was clean, well provisioned, and the host was very helpful with all our needs before and during our stay.
Enjoyed being in a quiet rural setting away from the main tourist areas. It had comfortable rooms and a well equipped kitchen. We made all of our breakfasts and several dinners. Enjoyed the fruit and coffee provided by the host. Would recomend.
The host and her representatives were very welcoming providing a lovely fruit basket on our arrival. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. I especially appreciated the snorkelling equipment we were able to borrow. Although secluded, we were able to explore the local region and enjoyed meeting a few shopkeepers.
This is by far the best VRBO we've ever rented. Its great Kona location is less than 2 hours from both the dizzying heights of Mauna Kea's summit to the north and the tempestuous cauldron of Kilawea to the south. This home is quiet, but not remote; simple, but not austere; clean, but not uninvitingly sterile. There is plenty of room for 4 people to stretch out and relax and a strenuous hike up the hill to visit the neighbor's very sweet goat and pigs when you're done relaxing. The hosts are quick to respond if there's anything you need. The house is surrounded by lush greenery and massive banana plants (of course) and the front deck overlooks the farm and the nightly sunset over the Pacific. BBQ and eat on the well appointed lanai while enjoying the sounds of frogs, crickets, and the occasional wild pig. A short drive in any direction will take you to boating, snorkeling, botanical gardens, great food, and shopping. This is the perfect Kona home away from home.

Thank you Robin! It was lovely to host you and it makes me happy that you appreciated the country feeling of the property. Please come back!
Loved this quiet, peaceful house on a farm in Kealakekua. We only stayed 3 days here as we wanted to experience different parts of the island, but I would have gladly stayed here the entire week. Krista was a great host, the house was clean, comfortable, roomy, and well-appointed. Would definitely stay here again!
Secluded, rustic farmhouse is a comfortable place to rest away from the hubbub of Kona, but with easy access when you want to head into the resort area. Might be just the ticket for a couple with planned hikes and other activities
Loves staying in the farm! Peaceful location with the lots of birds, pigs, cats and chickens! House was just as described and the host was very communicative especially about the steep road down to the house. Thanks Krista.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
The tropical plants , porches , sea view, geckos and airy breezy , open spaces . Nice artwork sprinkled throughout. Comfy and clean
The property was lovely, and well described. They weren't kidding about the road to it being a challenge - super bumpy and on a slope - just go slow! Being in the jungle, there are lots of bugs, and the window screens need to be replaced! You need to keep the windows open to stay cool, and several screens are bent and have gaps. The cooking utensils are minimal. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay in a quiet neighborhood.
This modern farmhouse in Kealakekua was a perfect place to stay for our first visit to the Big Island. When we arrived the house was very clean and the host was very quick to answer any questions we had about the house and the local area. The house is nestled in a very peaceful grove, down a bumpy road from the main highway. It feels like you're way out in the country, but it has easy access to many activities and beaches from there. We were even able to walk around the farm a bit and talk to the workers about it and their process. Plus, there's a coffee farm to tour by walking 5 min down the road! When we come back to Hawaii, we will definitely stay here again.

Thank you Joshua —it was lovely to have you all here! I’m glad you were able to appreciate that feeling of being in the country, while just a short walk from town. Thank you for taking such an interest in the farm and in our local community too. Please come back anytime.!
Wonderful 2 bedroom home in a tropical paradise. Great showers and bathrooms with great water pressure, towels and shampoos, etc… Comfortable king beds in both rooms. Big kitchen and open living room area. Good wi-fi. Lovely view of the farm, plants and ocean in the background from the front porch. House had windows open in all rooms with fans and we didn’t miss A/C. Was nice and cool in the evenings with the fans. The hostess Krista was responsive and very easy to communicate with. She gave us a tour of the organic farm and was easy going. We loved staying in a less touristy area yet still easy access with our rental car to get anywhere on the island and the tourist areas within 10-20 depending on where we wanted to go. The access road to the house is EASY in our jeep and for any car (normal pavement with some speed bumps). We traveled the whole Island on our own and enjoyed coming back to this tranquil place daily. Missing the cute adoptable farm cat that was outside and enjoyed her cuddles on the porch in the morning with my coffee. Thanks again!!

Thank you, Gideon. We really enjoyed sharing the farm with you and your daughter. You felt like familiar neighbors from the start!
The house has a very comfortable layout, with (mostly) screened windows to catch the breeze and cool off at night. The pictures don't do justice to the spaciousness of the common areas. Although we could see the farm and workers from the property, we didn't hear anything and enjoyed the privacy provided by the beautiful plants and slope of the properties. The welcome basket of fruit was wonderful! Coffee and equipment provided, too, but nothing for pour-over. The host was very responsive, however, the broken microwave was not fixed while we were there. Very clean all over, except for the fridge.Be ready to navigate some serious potholes and drive slowly in case of oncoming traffic. The isolated paradise feel of the property is worth the drive! Excellent beaches, attractions and food places very nearby. We would stay here again.
We (42M, 39F) came for a long weekend trip to celebrate my husband's birthday with our son (11y). I really enjoyed this property and can confidently recommend it!
LOCATION: Great if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful place away from it all with an awesome view of the ocean from the living room! There's convenience stores just a couple minutes from the property for any last minute things. It's ~20ish minute drive to all the Kailua-Kona attractions.
ARRIVAL: If you can, arrive during the daylight hours! The property is located down a narrow and winding road (but easily drivable if you go slow) on a secluded area of an active farm. Very easy to find during the day, but the road is dark and the house may be difficult to find for the first time if you're arriving in the evening. For your safety, best to arrive during the day and you won't have any problem!
PARKING: There's adequate parking right in front of the house for two or three cars. We rented a crew-cab pickup truck had no problems maneuvering in and out.
HOUSE: What a well-maintained home!! I loved the wood floors! And my tall husband and son really appreciate the Cal-King beds!! There's more than adequate space in each of the bedrooms, the bathrooms each have a full shower and tub, the kitchen is a good size with everything you would need, and there's good space in the dining room with an adjacent comfy living room. The deck and patio are spacious and relaxing with all of the surrounding greenery. There is a washer

Dionne, it was lovely to host you and your son. Thanks for taking the time to give such a helpful description of the property, and for your thoughtful communication and feedback during your stay. Weʻd love to host you again anytime. A hui you!
Beautiful site in a very comfortable, nicely designed home. Krista was great at communication and we loved the surfboard sign out front that reads: “No Bad Days”
After dealing with the traffic, this was a great home to come back to. I could have just read on the deck the whole time. Everything was in working condition and clean. I had a problem finding the road but I just got on the phone and she guided me to it. My bad. We were parked 6 feet from the road. The home is just half a mile from the hospital. Had to take my husband in for an eye condition. So nice not to have to drive into Kona. The first evening, my son and daughter-in-law came over with their kids to make dinner for us. It was so nice to have room for the six of us at the dining table and all the cooking utensils needed for an elegant meal in the middle of banana trees. I loved this little get away.

We enjoyed hosting Joyce and her husband, and love that you appreciated the quite of being outside the main town of Kona, but still in the heart of Kealakekua village, with a hospital and other services close by.
Your hosts produce vibrant organic vegetables and fruit for top island restaurants and local grocery stores. Guests are welcomed with a sampling of local farm bounty, and our produce is available at nearby restaurants and markets as well. While this quiet home enjoys its own secluded corner of the property, guests can also enjoy a birds-eye view as our beautifully-maintained farm bustles with planting and harvest activities, visits from local restaurateurs, and conservation and community efforts.
