The house was super clean, as advertised and exactly what we were hoping for. The creek out back allowed our dog to swim and we jumped in some lazy tubing! The charcoal grill delivered as well!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
The driveway was very rough a private drive with a lot of pot holes to start off with. Then once we got the key and checked in that was pretty simple but once inside tried taking a shower very low water pressure. A very small trickle of water, and not very much hot water. Got cold very quickly. Messaged host and he recommended turning off breaker to the pump to which I did. Nothing happened. Just ask for reimbursement for the rest of the week had to wait until the next day for an answer which he replied he could only do 417 out of 627. I thought was unacceptable so after being on the phone with VRBO rep for almost 1.5 hours they gave me an additional 127 in credit towards another stay. So to say the least wasn’t very pleasant stay. Could be a cute place to stay but definitely needs road maintenance and some serious upkeep of the water conditions.
Overall good, beds very comfortable. Good amenities, adequate kitchen and entertainment center. Hot water was not working well sometimes, always recovered. Would have been nice to have the gas fireplace. Heat distribution from the regular heating system seemed to favor the bedrooms. Overall good, met our needs
Host is very communicative and place is well decorated. The satellite/ weather vein is very loud, it moves with the wind it woke me up several times and was kinda scary until we figured out what it was. The hot water didn’t work while we were there and the water pressure in general was very low. But with all that said we’d still come back. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay.

This was a nice getaway for the time that we stayed Beds were super comfortable and just the right amount of space for us. Wish the road driving in was better, potholes that could swallow a car tire and create some real damage. Only disappointment was the access to the river. It was really not accessible with the steps in their current condition. That was one of the reasons for booking near a creek...steps need a landing or something at the bottom instead of 2x4s. My husband was worried once we got down, we wouldn't be able to get back out and up to the property.Weather was super hot and river access would have been the perfect touch to our stay. All in all, good communication with Tony...may stay again, would just not bank on the expectation of water access.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – Mountain River Cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
