Secluded and lavish 6BDR lakehouse in private cove with outdoor (year round) hot tub & steam sauna
The Lakehouse of Braeloch is a one of a kind classic cedar ranch located 20 minutes from downtown Burlington and 90 minutes from Montreal, with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and a private beach on Mallets Bay (Lake Champlain). Enjoy total privacy in deep ancient forest, miles from civilization yet only minutes from downtown (the big city of Burlington!). Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly place.
The house includes 3,200 SF of natural luxury including a great room that is open to both a modern kitchen as well as to the 400 SF screen porch overlooking the lake. It enjoys douglas fir post and beam architecture with wide-board pine floors throughout and 30 foot vaulted wood-paneled ceilings. The main entry is the upper floor as the house is built into a slope, as are four of the six bedrooms. This is useful for families with members who have trouble navigating stairs as the kitchen, dining room, outdoor decks, great room and four of six bedrooms are on the same level as the entry (the entry is 4 steps from parking grade). The large screen porch can be completely enclosed by a `nana-wall` (5 panel sliding door that completely opens up) during cold months or evenings and is flanked on either side by 350 SF sun-decks overlooking the water and accessed from each of the upstair`s two `dueling` master bedrooms.
There is a year round outdoor hot tub overlooking the lake and a steam-sauna for two in our downstairs marble-lined `rain room` with bluetooth stereo capability.
The entire house is included in any rental, which sits on 3 acres in a secluded area remote from all but two nearby seasonal homes. The meadow located behind the house hosts a community tennis court and a baskeball court that are available for you to use. The tennis court is striped for pickleball, as well.
The house is located within a 300 acre affluent country community known as `Braeloch` which includes 2.5 miles of lake shoreline. Braeloch is a mile from a paved road through old growth forest and is a vestige of old world Vermont. It is, however 20 minutes away from downtown Burlington - a REALLY fun city - and 90 minutes drive from Montreal - A GREAT city - and very accessible to NY upstate via the Ferry on South Hero.
No houses are within sight of the Lakehouse but we have neighbors within the community, almost all are 2nd home owners. We share a tennis court and a basketball court that are for your enjoyment on first come first serve basis.
Parking via a `circle` can accomodate four cars without `blocking` the circle and more if need be.
In summer months - Memorial day to Labor day - we provide one canoe and two paddleboards for your use. We may have more items available but these are minimum however feel free to ask us!
All beds are made and ready for you to sleep upon arrival. We also can help you order groceries and have them stocked in the refridgerator upon arrival. Do not move furniture, however if you do, return it as it was when you arrived.
Do not remove the hot tub cover, use the cover lifter, and do not drink or eat in the hot tub.
Drive slow on Braeloch Road! Especially by the white farm house by the mailboxes, kids play there and it is a blind curve.

We had a wonderful getaway to beautiful Colchester. The lake was frozen solid and our dogs loved running in the open snow. The views from the house were stunning. Our host was very responsive to our communication and checked to see how we were doing. We would definitely like to return an experience the lake in the warmer months.
We used this property for post graduation get togethers, and it was perfect! Weather was great the whole time but even with some rain there were many things to do. Loved how spacious and how open concept it was! Will stay again!
Multi-generational family members traveled for a weekend stay to attend UVM's commencement in Burlington. Excellent location just 20 minutes from campus yet secluded in a beautiful and private community on Lake Champlain. Made a perfect setting for a family get together. The home is charming, well equipped and spacious. Property owner/manager was a pleasure to communicate with and the whole experience was seamless. We highly recommend!
Perfectly situated house with activities and equipment for all. Pontoon boat available (extra), but so much fun. Mallets bay is somewhat sheltered from the main lake so the waves were smaller when the wind picked up. Plenty of rooms and beds for a family of 4 couples and 3 grand kids and dog friendly. Water level was high so the beach had disappeared, but the dock made up for it and there was plenty of water time regardless. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning dehumidified the house and cooled it when we had a couple of hot humid days. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment the screened porch is where we lived when not at the large dining table. The house is a practical place, it has seen many years of great fun, so not pristine, but really who wants that with so many people. Great place. Thanks

Thank you Andreas for your thorough and gracious review.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at this property and it exceeded expectations. It is truly a gem, offering a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and natural beauty.
The house itself is incredibly spacious, easily accommodating our group of 9 with room to spare. The interior is welcoming and we immediately felt right at home. The separate screened in area between the two upper balconies was perfect for socializing and the lower family room was great for our gamers. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare all of our meals and the large dining area allowed us to all eat together. They even offered to put delivered groceries away prior to arrival!
The highlight of our stay was the proximity of the lake. The unobstructed views of the water, created a serene and picturesque setting that we never tired of. A short walk down the hill allowed opportunities to simply enjoy a relaxing moment at the waters edge, or partake in a multitude of activities like fishing, kayaking and other water activities, all thanks to the many toys provided by the hosts.
The multiple outdoor sitting areas, two fire pits (one on the private beach and other just off the back of the property) allowed treasured opportunities for truly engaging with each other, as did the provided games.
This beautiful, spacious property with direct lake access and an array of thoughtful amenities made for an unforgettable family vacation. We look forward to returning soon.
What great time we all had. A beautiful property and location. Checkin was easy and straight forward. Property was clean and well kept. Kitchen was well appointed and had everything you needed to cook. The steam shower and hot tub got a lot of use. There was ample room for everyone to get together or chill in a special place. Highly recommend for family. I must say we enjoyed the entire place and a few small issues we promptly addressed. Rent this place and have fun.
Stephanie had difficulty in "checking in" and was upset that we asked her to sign a simple rental agreement that went over terms not otherwise disclosed or discussed by VRBO. Her family seemed to have a great time however and we really enjoyed hosting them!

Thanks for your review Bo! We loved hosting you over Christmas! Hope the tree was appopriate and enjoyed! It is such an important holiday and means so much to us when a family chooses our home from which to enjoy it!
James and Diane were fine guests though we had small issues that were resolved, they never seemed to get past them. The stove had trouble starting due to a malfunctioning outlet - we switched outlets and it was fine - and they wanted more water which we got them immediately. Other than that we had no other feedback either way. Disappointing about 4 star rating. I think we earned the 5th and/or at least could have been told why.
