About this property
Secluded and lavish 6BDR lakehouse in private cove with outdoor (year round) hot tub & steam sauna
The Lakehouse of Braeloch is a one-of-a-kind cedar post-and-beam lakefront home tucked into 3 private acres of old-growth forest on the shores of Lake Champlain. Located just 20 minutes from Burlington and 90 minutes from Montreal, this 6-bedroom, 4-bath retreat offers complete privacy within Braeloch, a private community.
It was built for large family gatherings, the home features over 3,200 SF of living space and an extraordinary 2,700 SF of outdoor living. At its center is a spectacular great room with soaring 24-foot wood-paneled ceilings, Douglas fir beams, wide-plank pine floors, a Vermont Castings wood stove, and a handcrafted 10-foot barnwood dining table that opens into a modern chef`s kitchen with expansive granite counterspace.
A dramatic five-panel NanaWall transforms the adjoining 400 SF screened porch into either an open-air pavilion or a four-season living space. On either side, two 400 SF sun decks extend from the dual primary suites, while below, a 1,500 SF partially covered patio offers an outdoor living room complete with a wood-burning fire pit and an eight-person hot tub overlooking the lake.
All 6 bedrooms overlook the lake, and 3 open directly onto a private deck or patio through French doors. The home includes four distinctive bathrooms, including a primary ensuite, a clawfoot tub bath, a guest shower bath, and a marble-lined rain room with a steam sauna.
Downstairs, a second `entertainment` gathering room features a 72` TV (cable & movie channels), karaoke machine, Italian leather seating for everyone, a cocktail bar, and a Tornado foosball table.
Our lakefront includes two private swim beaches, a new steel-truss floating dock with built-in swim benches, and a covered pergola overlooking the lake—the perfect place to relax while others swim or paddle. During the summer, guests are welcome to enjoy our canoe, kayaks. and paddleboards.
Community tennis, pickleball, and quarter basketball courts are a short walk from the Lakehouse. Do not move furniture, however if you do, return it as it was when you arrived.
Do not remove the hot tub cover, use the cover lifter, and do not drink or eat in the hot tub.
Drive slow on Braeloch Road! Especially by the white farm house by the mailboxes, kids play there and it is a blind curve.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this property. Spent endless hours on the lake kayaking and swimming. Amenities are fantastic with a great firepit on the beach, hot tub and a wonderful barbecue and smoker. Lots of board games to keep everyone entertained in addition to the tennis and pickleball.Really faultless property and magical stay!
We had a wonderful getaway to beautiful Colchester. The lake was frozen solid and our dogs loved running in the open snow. The views from the house were stunning. Our host was very responsive to our communication and checked to see how we were doing. We would definitely like to return an experience the lake in the warmer months.
We used this property for post graduation get togethers, and it was perfect! Weather was great the whole time but even with some rain there were many things to do. Loved how spacious and how open concept it was! Will stay again!
What great time we all had. A beautiful property and location. Checkin was easy and straight forward. Property was clean and well kept. Kitchen was well appointed and had everything you needed to cook. The steam shower and hot tub got a lot of use. There was ample room for everyone to get together or chill in a special place. Highly recommend for family. I must say we enjoyed the entire place and a few small issues we promptly addressed. Rent this place and have fun.
Multi-generational family members traveled for a weekend stay to attend UVM's commencement in Burlington. Excellent location just 20 minutes from campus yet secluded in a beautiful and private community on Lake Champlain. Made a perfect setting for a family get together. The home is charming, well equipped and spacious. Property owner/manager was a pleasure to communicate with and the whole experience was seamless. We highly recommend!
Perfectly situated house with activities and equipment for all. Pontoon boat available (extra), but so much fun. Mallets bay is somewhat sheltered from the main lake so the waves were smaller when the wind picked up. Plenty of rooms and beds for a family of 4 couples and 3 grand kids and dog friendly. Water level was high so the beach had disappeared, but the dock made up for it and there was plenty of water time regardless. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning dehumidified the house and cooled it when we had a couple of hot humid days. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment the screened porch is where we lived when not at the large dining table. The house is a practical place, it has seen many years of great fun, so not pristine, but really who wants that with so many people. Great place. Thanks

Thank you Andreas for your thorough and gracious review.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at this property and it exceeded expectations. It is truly a gem, offering a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and natural beauty.
The house itself is incredibly spacious, easily accommodating our group of 9 with room to spare. The interior is welcoming and we immediately felt right at home. The separate screened in area between the two upper balconies was perfect for socializing and the lower family room was great for our gamers. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare all of our meals and the large dining area allowed us to all eat together. They even offered to put delivered groceries away prior to arrival!
The highlight of our stay was the proximity of the lake. The unobstructed views of the water, created a serene and picturesque setting that we never tired of. A short walk down the hill allowed opportunities to simply enjoy a relaxing moment at the waters edge, or partake in a multitude of activities like fishing, kayaking and other water activities, all thanks to the many toys provided by the hosts.
The multiple outdoor sitting areas, two fire pits (one on the private beach and other just off the back of the property) allowed treasured opportunities for truly engaging with each other, as did the provided games.
This beautiful, spacious property with direct lake access and an array of thoughtful amenities made for an unforgettable family vacation. We look forward to returning soon.
Stephanie had difficulty in "checking in" and was upset that we asked her to sign a simple rental agreement that went over terms not otherwise disclosed or discussed by VRBO. Her family seemed to have a great time however and we really enjoyed hosting them!

Thanks for your review Bo! We loved hosting you over Christmas! Hope the tree was appopriate and enjoyed! It is such an important holiday and means so much to us when a family chooses our home from which to enjoy it!
James and Diane were fine guests though we had small issues that were resolved, they never seemed to get past them. The stove had trouble starting due to a malfunctioning outlet - we switched outlets and it was fine - and they wanted more water which we got them immediately. Other than that we had no other feedback either way. Disappointing about 4 star rating. I think we earned the 5th and/or at least could have been told why.
